  1. Can you measure the gap between the two mounting points behind the seats? I've found one, but can't see a part number anywhere on it.
  2. Last one I know of was the RHD SE from Wellington, before that was the mint Auckland based SE that went off to the states. SE is a whole different market from other E30 M3s though, and there again can be huge variations depending on what model, spec, colour, etc. That's before you even worry about age, kms and condition. If you're in the right place at the right time there are "bargains" to be had, but that now is very much a relative term!
  3. Aah, I think I see an explanation..You know how many Dutchmen it takes to have an argument..?
  4. Duct tape FTW !! And flash new racing gloves, must be getting serious.
  5. I've been told to avoid the brushless / touch less car washes, because they use much stronger chemicals to shift the dirt and grime to make up for the lack of brushes?
  6. The blue accent is the default on interior trim inserts for the Motorsport pack. Not linked to the exterior colour. You also need the alcantara M-Performance steering wheel with shift lights!!
  7. What E30.. 318 / 320 / 325, etc. Auto / manual, Pre-facelift / facelift..? Might make it easier to tell.
  8. I tow my race car on an A Frame, like the ute behind the grader. Have had a couple of people try to merge between my tow car and the race car..! The guy that turned to get angry with the driver of the driver-less car was quite confused..
  9. A good one doesn't have a project list, ever. It's looked after and maintained, not repaired and restored.
  10. Lots of E53s out there many gone to the great wreckers yard in the Sky, not so many E91s and most still alive and well. So big difference in supply of used parts. So many people take them out and leave then in garage then forget to put them back in... Might be able to find one, will have a rummage.
  11. Haha Andy, might just as well have been! They were registered as NEW cars.Nothing dodgy about it, all within the letter of the law. Lots of cars sit around in storage for a looking time before they get sold. It's not the first owner, a dealer must register the car when it is sold to a customer. Remember all the pictures of cars parked in rows when the GFC hit? Think how long some of those would have sat around before they found a home and were registered. There is now an unofficial gentleman's agreement amongst importers that anything over 2 years old at first registration will have the build date clearly identified to the customer.
  12. The owner is a member on here, one of the race series guys. It is a great car, in exceptional condition. It's been well loved and looked after.
  13. Wow, so much wtf in one thread! There are actually laws and regulations that cover this stuff you know.. The sale of motor vehicles act or something, plus a couple of others. JFGI And just for the record there were a couple of Mercs that sat in a warehouse in Singapore for nine years unregistered, then brought to NZ. Guess what they were sold as...
  14. Going back to somewhere near the original topic.. In my book the 'soul' of most Euro / Asian cars has gradually been killed by a combination of emissions / fuel consumption controls and safety / impact protection. When I started in the industry there were groups of crazy car people trying to make things that would scare you half to death. Now it's all bean counters, risk assessments and computer geeks. Even the M dudes have all their toys kept under control by the joy germs.
  15. I love both 24hours and Adrenalin, the two BMW Motorsport documentaries. But then I a very biased. Lots of good interviews and behind the scenes actions mixed in with the on-track stuff, a great balance.
  16. Those uneven surface signs crack me up! Have they seen the state of the roads in NZ??Would be easier to put "even surface" on the bits that are smooth and flat.
  17. Aha!! I have a full wiring kit for an e46 Touring... which could go well with the towbar above!! A proper Westphalia one, not a cheapy couple of relays, etc..
  18. I've told him many times they aren't M3 wheels, but he keeps putting that back up!!
  19. Really? I'd love to know where these independents are, never been to any mechanic that has done that. What sort of guarantee / warranty do they put on the work, especially with the used parts?
  20. Was with AA for everything, car, house and contents. Then had a nightmare with a claim on the wife's car, long story that I will share when I can be bothered to type it all up. As a result, decided to swap, tried Youi and got some aggressive South African salesman on the phone talking down to me so he got told to do one. Ended up with State, same cover, car much cheaper - house and contents about the same. No claims yet, touch wood.

    M2

Yes, the M235i Racing is a very good deal as it's basically a marketing tool from BMW M Gmbh. The only downside is the limitations to its use, ie having to race in the VLN or the BMW backed series or be a "customer team". All the cars were "spoken for" before they were even planned into production, they were allocated to certain markets only, and tightly controlled as to who they ended up with. There was a lot of discussion over getting a quota for NZ, but the numbers required couldn't be made to stack up unfortunately. There will most likely be another production run at the back end of this year so you never know! Bit of a different proposition to the M2 though, not even sure you would be able to make it road-legal in the UK? Certainly not a "daily driver" type of vehicle like the M2.
  22. Ash, forgot about looking for that, will have a rummage for you!!
  23. Weight reduction to the extreme... If it still works without them, then sweet! The diff that is, not the spanner, you popped another photo up.
  24. ^^that is the ex-Mike Delmont car that sold at auction. It was bought from Turners by the guy Varney who ran it in the BMW series for a year or two, he then swapped it for Hayden Mackenzie's TLX V8 Bottom of the info board it says it's owned by Mackenzie.
