  1. Agreed, if you wanted a 130i that would be ticking the boxes. At that price though you are getting very close to early F20 M135i money, which is a tough call.
  2. ^^This. The 320d in standard tune (no need to map it and screw all the emissions kit) has plenty of torque and does the 80-120kph overtakes easily even when we’ll loaded up. 330d / 335d would be nice, but obviously more $$$, but not necessary. The F31 really is a leap ahead of the E91 in most aspects.
  3. Should be fixed now, seems to be ok for me. Please let me know if you are still seeing warning messages or issues. Hi
  4. IIRC most of the aspects of a Police vehicle are covered under the relevant sections of the VIRM - for example lights, having blue lights forward facing on a vehicle, etc. I have seen a few vehicles that replicate overseas law enforcement vehicles - mostly USA style. Mike from the Surgery in Wellington used to bring a Mustang to Manfield that had a big sheriff's badge on the doors and bonnet and was in the classic black and white style, quite cool.
  5. Yup, that's where the holder for the "snap in adapter" or Eject box as it was referenced above, should be sitting. Unfortunately it looks like it has been removed for some reason, as this is where the button for pairing is fitted. I wonder if it has been removed to have the cup holders put back in, as they take up the same space. Did the car definately have the factory bluetooth option fitted?
  6. @_ethrty-Andy_ lots of generations of X5s, lots of different models, and lots of different suspension set ups. One X5 is not necessarily like another. Inner rear shoulder wear is usually the first point of wear on the later E70 / F15 models, especially when they have staggered fitment wheels and tyres which prevents you from rotating them around. A lot of it also comes down to driving style, there are many that drive an X5 like a sports sedan and as a result see short life spans for tyres, brake pads and rotors.
  7. Yup, I will see if one of the technical gurus can help...
  8. What brand and type? Are they a “performance” tyre, or a hard wearing style? How quickly would you do the 18,000kms? If they have not been mounted and stored correctly then that’s a big difference to sitting on a rim supporting a car for all that time.
  9. Drove the hybrid on its first long trip, Akl to Napier, total of about 415kms. Didn’t manage to get it fully charged before leaving but still managed to travel over 75kms of the journey on full electric (range at the start was showing 26km). Overall consumption was 5.9 ltr / 100kms. I was pretty impressed as it wasn’t an economy run by any stretch - 4 people, luggage and some spirited over-taking.
  10. Found an awesome 2nd hand book in Napier today, Bathurst 1985, loads of great BMW photos included such as this one.
  11. You might want to read up on what’s new in the automotive world, things have moved on quite a bit, especially in the world of interior finishes and technology. Sustainability is a big thing now and 90s plastics are no longer in vogue. The problem with changing things as radically as the iX is that it will always be very divisive, give it a few years and then see. Whilst the iX is not my favourite style of vehicle (ie large SAV) the ride, the drive and the tech are mighty impressive and I can’t wait to see them transposed into my favourite, the sports sedan in the shape of an i4. Here’s hoping that BMW have hit the right spot with the market, so they can sell cars and stay in business, which then maintains the supply of spare parts for our older models.
  12. If you can put up the prices you are looking for on the major items, wheels, seats, diff, suspension, body kit, etc and pictures if not already up, that would meet the forum rules. Any smaller bits and bobs people can pm or ask on here.
  13. The sent from address shows up as “New Zealand Transport Agency” on the Mail but when you look at the properties it shows it’s not (can’t remember exact e-mail sorry). Didnt try the links to see where they went, just deleted them.
  14. My wife has just shown me two e-mails she has received today, pretending to be from NZTA for a rego renewal. Luckily she told me about it and showed me, as I know I have just renewed her car. Pretty convincing e-mail: Posting up here as you are all likely to have cars needing rego and I’d hate anyone to be caught out by it.
  15. GBP68k for a 2021 D3 Touring - newer G21 based generation to boot, landed for about the same as he’s asking.
  16. 99% sure it’s completely separate, can’t find any Alpina models in ETK and the chassis number doesn’t pull come up. Most Alpina dealers are also BMW so usually wouldn’t be an issue, but with no official Alpina distributor in NZ, it might be interesting.
  17. The “base” car is built on the standard production line, only because it isn’t going to be built anywhere else. Plus the car that comes off the line looks nothing like the finished Alpina vehicle. Lots of the “Alpina” bits are swapped over at their factory, the BMW production line is planned and designed to run at a very strict speed - you cannot stop the whole thing whilst assembly station 28b fiddles about with the extra tricky Alpina bit. Partly why it has a non-BMW chassis number, it is NOT a BMW. As your parts catalogue shows there are very many parts which differ, apart from the obvious wheels, interior, badges, bodykit, etc. In terms of parts support these are also outside the BMW network, and I wonder what supply and pricing is like compared to the normal 335d equivalents. Very different cars to “M” cars, but I would argue not better, more a very rapid luxury cruiser than a track oriented, sharp vehicle. The modern Alpinas are very well suited to long distance driving on smooth Euro highways, but both they and the M cars suffer on harsh NZ surfaces. Would I buy an old model Alpina - yes, a modern one like this, probably not - and definitely not at that price premium..
  18. You might be surprised how much you can pull with a 1-Series! Whether it is safe (or legal) to do so, is another matter.
  19. I wouldn’t blame the seller too much on that, and the other errors, on their listing. Most of it is regurgitating the yarns he was spun by the non-BMW dealer that brought these into NZ. I can’t remember what they were selling for when they came in, but yeah, he’s a bit optimistic on pricing.
  20. Is it worse than you thought? Yes. Is it still a good project but at what you paid? Still yes. look in the bright side, it’s a good long term project for you. Every project car has hidden gremlins in it, so don’t beat yourself up over it. Lesson is: never, ever inspect a car in the rain. It hides too many possible issues and getting wet makes you rush and miss things.
  21. There is a code of practice for Sex Workers, that might cover it? As mentioned above, an undertaking is intended to cover situations where there is no monetary payment involved, so there is no employer-employee relationship. So yes, it covers volunteers, etc. and not just in charity work but also the likes of volunteer Marshalls at a Motorsport event, or similar. It might even cover the case where you get a mate round to help you do something on your house…
  22. It’s an E30, he obviously lost the back end and went down the bank backwards!! 😩
  23. Used a six-figure plus BMW to take a selfie whilst stuck in the Newmarket Mall car park traffic jam… Isn’t technology great..?
  24. There are a number of web-sites dedicated to the build quality of Tesla…
