E36, E46 or E90? If its an E36 be aware that the jap imports have terrible autos that will result in the "jatco jerk" where they jerk and thump into second gear. The E46 seems to be better and the e90 is all good. Ill second what Richard says though, the 323i in either chassis is underpowered. Youre better off getting a higher spec model, a 328i or 330i. Not only will you get more power, but the fuel consumption wont be that different as the engine wont have to work as hard to lug the car around.

The RE002s i had on a previous car handled OK, but were unreliable. When i got the car it needed the RE002s on the front replaced as they delaminated (despite being almost new), and apparently thats really common.

dont even get me started on dealers changing cambelts as cheap as possible and not doing waterpump and tensioners.... :|

Where to purchase the tool that undoes an E36 (M44) Oil filter?

oh, a quick google says it might look like this? In that case, pass. Maybe an oil filter wrench or strap? -

It takes Ron ages because his abacus is inefficient.

Harman Kardon amp/sound processor died - Mini Cooper S - Help!
KwS replied to potzman's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Im a bit late, but Mark, the M3 doesnt have the Harmon Kardon system, only the Hifi system so AFAIK no standalone amp. I know the crackling you mean, it didnt happen with the old headunit and i never had a chance to investigate further. I did note that turning the bass down lessened it enough to not bother me. Might be worth checking the power and ground wiring to the headunit, and maybe running a new ground (i think i just used the one in the loom from memory, i was running low on time). -
Very common. I had one thread on my old M3 cover that would probably need a helicoil next time the cover is off. It held this time but it was soft. Well done on getting stuck in and fixing it yourself. Certainly drilling into that very expensive head must be daunting. I heard of one guy on another forum that had to helicoil the whole lot after a shady mechanic over torqued the lot!

Contact the forum user Ethirty Andy, he is the owner, and seller of the V12 E34. Its an amazing car, and far too much car for the little money.

i understand im not a potential buyer for this car, so might be biased, but im not convinced on the "set price super high and let market set value" idea. IMO if i see a car that is well over priced, i dont tend to even waste my time contacting them, ill just move onto someone who is realistic. If hes going to play that game, he better not get insulted if someone offers him 10k less than asking price. cant have it both ways. Im more of a "set price at a little over what i want but still realistic" kinda guy.

baaaarrrrrpp *fart* baaarrrrpppp
-
hardly "slagging his car off" imo. Mostly kind words about its looks and condition, but quite rightly stating its over priced (and mentioning its slightly dubious history). Its a beautiful car, no doubt.
-
not to mention prefect rev matched downshifts in the DCT The one i dont like is the VW Golf GTI DSG exhaust note on up shift. It sounds like the car is farting.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-859383575.htm This is a members car, would be worth a look if you can stretch a bit?
-
but is there really a need for a manual on the open road? You arent changing gears often and when you do, a DCT will do it quicker, smoother and with less effort.
-
bet it does mean skids.... from redline, with a clutch dump, in the wet
-
pah, 540i... get an E34 518i! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-854409952.htm

Each to their own. I think its cool in all the cars ive used it on. After the novelty wears off you probably wont use it, but at least you have the option to.
-
you wanted reasons for going DCT or not, that right there is a difference. DCT has LC, manual doesnt. Also, im sure the M3 has enough power to do skids no matter if its DCT, if you heathens are that way inclined.
-
i also have a skyline, so well versed in the art of skids.... but i'd trade the lack of traction for launch control any day. Makes traffic light drags way more exciting.
