BMW M5 1999 Silverstone Blue - First sold in NZ apparently
KwS replied to TermiPeteNZ's topic in TradeMe discussions
Its weird what i remember. Cant remember how to do math, but can remember a random E39 that was sold years ago -
wow, low is bit of an understatement for that! Looks good, such a classic shape.

BMW M5 1999 Silverstone Blue - First sold in NZ apparently
KwS replied to TermiPeteNZ's topic in TradeMe discussions
Is this the same E39 im thinking it is? Sold a few years ago in the low 20s, and i seem to recall it had had a mild shunt in the front on a track at some point? Theres not many in this color scheme. -
BP is pure petrol, no corn water there. The smaller stations generally have 95 instead of 98. Z doesnt do 98, only 91 and 95. Looks like Mobil will be bringing in (or has already started) pure 98 instead of their ethanol blend they use currently.
-
Whats the fuss? BP and Z both do 95RON. (except at Featherston St Z, which removed 95 and only does 91/Diesel... which was my tipping point for going exclusively BP) 98 is the way to go anyway, bugger putting that 91 swill into anything.

"VERY RARE FULL BLOWN 2001 AC SCHNITZER S7 BMW S7"
KwS replied to TermiPeteNZ's topic in TradeMe discussions
How odd. Looking at the official S7 brochure, this seems to be missing a lot of stuff that a "full blown" one would have. No ACS wheels, roof spoiler, steering wheel, pedals, strut brace, and ACS stripe decals. In fact, other than the front/rear skirts, exhaust, mirrors and badges..... what makes it an ACS model? Understandably we cant see the suspension or engine mods though. It looks like a tidy MSport E38 with some off the shelf bits thrown on it. -
May want to nuke this thread once you're done, its of dubious legality.
-
Dont then! I regret selling mine, and now i couldnt buy one for anywhere near what i sold it for >_<

What a bloody stunner. Well worth the money, far more so than the other ones on TM recently.

i ran 5w40 in my S50B30 without an issue, but this whole oil issue has been beaten to death. Can you identify where in the engine the noise comes from? Is it in the vanos? My chain tensioner made a weird rattling/whirring noise at about 1800rpm before i replaced it, but the B32 tensioners are a better design than the B30 ones (hence why B32 tensioners are a common replacement on B30)

Lol at Ron saying someone else is making it hard work. Hi Pot, meet Kettle.
-
I wouldnt touch it unless it was a donor for parts, tbh.
-
If you get stuck, your local Merc dealer should carry it (Castrol syntrax limited slip 75w140). #A001989520310 RRP $57 inc gst per 500ml. This is what i used in the plate LSD in my old M3, worked a treat.

i'd LOVE to take it on a project to restomod, but its still a lot of money. Compared to your old one Martin, this one looks like a dog.

Low price, high km.... but what the hell happened to the seats?! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1147414472

according to the link in the OP, $5150, to the current seller.

Looks like the buyer is having some remorse already... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1148226062.htm

Wellington doesnt have a winter either lol, im from Canterbury so im well versed in proper cold. Kinda miss the days of the car doors being frozen shut.
-
Lol, "auckland winters", might as well just use straight water Regardless, water wetter isnt an antifreeze. It can be used by its self in racing situations to improve cooling efficiency, and it does have anti-corrosive properties, but it wont stop freezing. It is really designed to aid traditional antifreeze, but as mentioned above i wouldnt bother.
-
If its such a concern for you Ron, im sure when you go into your local dealer with the money to purchase your new BMW, you will be able to pick the manual option you so dearly want. Not all options will be online or in the brochure. Until then, why bother with this uselessly boring, repetitive rant?
-
im not in touch with the price of those, but isnt that pretty up there in price for one that needs work? Also, $38k, and one photo? Seriously? One bloody photo.

They are a bit more awkward looking than the coupe, but nothing would compare to the aural bliss of hooning with the top down. I'd spend all day doing tunnel runs in an M3 vert
