  1. Recoding isnt "needed" as such, but when mine was converted it still had the Auto DME, and mine, like others, had a bad rev hang when changing gears. You get used to it, but i would recommend recoding. I wouldnt guarantee it. Mine had the jatco jerk and within a couple of thousand KM, including a trip fully loaded from CHCH to WGTN, the trans decided to give up and slip really badly and the jerk got to a point where i couldnt trust it to change gear crossing an intersection. Anyway, welcome to the club/forum, Charl. The E36 are great cars, and you will love it if/when you convert to manual, it completely transforms the car. Well worth the money.
  2. Great looking car. How does it compare to the 370?
  3. Customer dropped into work in his E46 M3 CSL..... oh my; first time seeing one in person, they are a cool car. This one obviously sees some hard work, wheels caked in brake dust, lowered with stoptech big brakes, harnesses and a big extinguisher on the floor. No photos because privacy and all that.
  4. By the sounds of it, i would be guttered to buy it at that price.
  5. Keep in mind, if its for your E39 the viewing angle is different and may need tweaking.
  6. The Euro is a better car tbh.
  7. Its been forsale on and off a few times that one, as you mentioned. Could be a good car to tidy up, but not at that price and the owner seems to think its more special than it is (dont get me wrong, im a big fan of E36 M3s, but they just arent in the same league as the other cars listed).
  8. Such a shame they have to sell them de-reg. Bye bye black plates
  9. The one in my car (albeit a B30) that was filthy was the inlet cam sensor. The others were spotless, but this one was packed with gunk. I think the B32 has the cam sensor in the same place, and it is possible to get the sensor out without dismantling anything. I used a short allen key and lots of wiggling to get it out.
  10. Might be a silly question, but have you tried removing the cam sensors and checking for debris on the ends of them? One of mine was flithy (they are magnetic) and cleaning it cleared up some issues.
  11. Get a broker, much better deals and they generally work harder to make sure what you get is what you want. All my cars are with NZI now after state cocked my previous insurance up big time. The fact you have claims to your name is going to be a big kick in your premiums, insurers dont like having to pay out. Most insurers will demand the use of PartsTrader for repairs now, so they get the best price for parts, no matter if they are new/2nd hand/aftermarket. Only cars that are less than 4 years old are guaranteed new genuine parts.
  12. Gosh it looks great on those MParallels.
  13. Gosh thats going to be a hard car to shift. At least with a LHD M3 its still an M3. A LHD Z3 is just a..... Well, i wont say it. I wonder what possessed the importer to bring it in? Mirrored auction photos making them think it was RHD? Edit: HAHAHAHA $6K for that. The ONLY thing going for it is that its manual.
  14. Makes my old one look like a steal for the price i sold it for. That white leather is just horrible, it does not wear well at all.

FYI, check the VIN options. Its well specced. Sports suspension, Sports seats, active steering, light package, Monaco blue although fake leather (sensatec). If its been looked after and an inspection clears it, i think its a good buy.

    Quick rant thread.

Its not even girls/women, plenty of guys looking down at their phones in rush hour bumper to bumper traffic. f**kers.
  18. would wider tires even help on the rear? The offset looks weak sauce as fark on the rear. Needs a wider tire for sure though.
  19. Bugger that, nothing like driving a high revving (car) engine hard, like a B18CR. Torque is great and all, but there is still something about an engine that makes all its power way way way up in the rev range. Same with the S50B30 TBH, not much down low, but my god it pulls like a freight train up high.
  20. ill bet the dealer saw the Km in japan and jumped on it whilst rubbing his hands together gleefully.... regardless of the spec.
  21. I concur, you should be very proud of what you have produced. Well done Also, respect for pushing forward despite being shafted by the previous owner of the original shell. That would have turned a lot of people off.
  22. I think the Mitsubishi 4G92 Mivec pre-dated that too with 170hp from a 1.6L, somewhere about 1992.
  23. The B18CR Honda engine was a 1.8L making 200HP in 1996
  24. I would much prefer half leather to full leather.
  25. have you checked the ECU, making sure it hasnt been liquid damaged or the likes?
