having to deal with Wellington rush hour traffic on SH2 each day, i would never go back to having a manual daily. Nope.

Really not liking the color matched rub strips, would look so much better with them left black. It needs that contrast to break it up.
-
i actually saw this car yesterday on my way home. Looks better in person than in the photos. Still not a fan of plastidip.

Typical jap rubbish. Generally either cant be, or not worth converting. Better off just buying a new unit (its nothing special, just a normal double-din unit).

All the pinned items in the Maintenance section now take up almost the whole first page (leaves only one actual post visible). Maybe we can condense them down into a sort of FAQ thread?
-
The website also seems to have a glitch whereby it thinks that govt plates with the rego on hold (and some others just randomly) are available. I can buy the plate on my old M3 even though its currently registered.
-
Having to use plates from a "approved agent", when there is only a single "approved agent" is a stupid monopoly anyway. I dont understand why we cant use anyone we want (or at least open it up to a few "approved agents") to make the plates as long as they comply with the requirements (font, size, shape, reflective, color etc). The argument is that anyone would then be able to go out and forge a plate, but dammit, that already happens (or people just take the plates from your car).

Whats with the "Asking price $10,000" and then stating over and over "OFFERS AROUND $15,000 ONLY. "? Looks like a really nice example though, with all the good bits on it.

I like it, its the same software on a lot of other forums im on. Far better than the old one that was on here. No obvious issues on Chrome/OSX El Crapitan.
-
Lol good to see im not the only one that had trouble taking photos of my Hellrot E36. Always looks bloody orange.

92 seconds to load the first page, on 30mbps fiber. I feel sorry for anyone with slower internet than me.

IIRC thats what he did, and it broke the pulley.

+1 on the spanner and hammer method, used that on a couple of cars now with great success. Stick spanner on nut, and strike the end of the spanner sharply with the hammer (in the direction of undoing). It uses the tension of the belts to hold the pulley in place, and the shock from the hammer to crack the nut.

Beautiful Avus Blue E39 M5 for sale in Welly - $27K
KwS replied to TermiPeteNZ's topic in TradeMe discussions
E39 M5 would be cheaper for sure, its a relatively simple car in comparison to the E55. Air shocks on the W211 are getting cheaper, with a factory reman option available now, but still a lot more than the standard shocks in an E39. A well looked after E55 is good, especially with a warranty, but nothing on a decent M5.- 16 replies

In your opinion. Why you such a hater. No wonder i visit here less and less.

Lol, adding arm rests to my E36s was one of the first mods i did. Guess you dont miss it until you have had one, but it was easily one of the best things i did to them. In Christian's case, the recaros clearly cause a conflict with the arm rest so i can understand removal. Love the recaros though, they look very much at home in there.

Good luck doing most manual conversions without changing drive shaft or crossmember... This topic is beaten to death. Just do it properly and cert the damn thing.
-
Also keep in mind that with imports Km on the clock doesnt really mean a damn thing. If its done only 11,000km, its either been sitting around doing nothing (and missing out on a ton of servicing in that time, just wasting away) or been doing lots of short trips/sitting in traffic idling.

Not to mention your insurer. It also mentions adjustable springs, which should be failed on any warrant without a cert.

I dont see how your boot is more practical than a hatchback, hell, i fit my rollcab in the Fit when i bought it; theres no way it would fit in your "far bigger" boot. The fit will do low 5l/100km on the open road, and averages 7l/100km in SH2 start/stop rush hour traffic every day. The 728i has a worse power to weight ratio than my 523i and that thing was tragically slow. Anyway, this isnt meant to be a discussion of my far superior for a daily Fit over a base model 7 series, so ill stop. But keep in mind my original comment, "only 400kg heavier" isnt a good thing.

pfft, hellrot is a pro. Great color for an E36.

He was not a pleasant person and i certainly wouldnt give him my money. In regards to the oil leak, likely coming from valve cover gasket or oil filter housing gasket. Best to clean it all down with brake clean or degreaser, and then try and trace where its coming from.

Thats a terrible comparison. My Fit is slow, its only a small engine, but its also very efficient to run and light enough that its still fun to drive. A 728i gets the same slows without the benefits the Fit has. I know first hand how slow an E36, E46 and E39 3/523i is as i have owned all of them, and its got more torque and similar power to a 320i. A 728i has a good 20hp over an E39 323i, but the curb weight of a 728i is also about 250kg more (1495kg E39 - 1740hp E38) Im bored at work so lets try this too. E39 523i - 114 BHP/TON E38 728i - 111 BHP/TON GE8 Fit - 112 BHP/TON (120HP 1070KG) NC MX5 - 147 BHP/TON

"Only 400kg or so heavier" lolol.
