I may be biased, but once the tempo picks up, the girls do a better job. More practised and smooth. I love daft punk. Not that song though - they've done alot better. Sounds like something JT would release.

F/l to f/l doesn't need sensors - your sensor is on the front of the motor, so you'll be fine. There are a couple of different boxes - some have a 1:1 final drive, but most have an overdrive 5th. But as far as shifting and usage goes, I've driven both and can't really tell the difference. It depends more on the quality of the bushes between the box and your hand. The 260 I think is just stronger - longer actual gears so less prone to stripping etc as I understand it. Box design is much the same - one is just bigger/beefier.

The towie stories remind me of this tool I used to flat with in Dunedin. Woke up one morning after a really really drunk night out and his car was gone. Keys were where they always were. Asked all the flatties if they had borrowed it and parked it somewhere different - no. Reported it stolen. He found it 2 weeks later in a public carpark near town with 2 weeks worth of parking tickets. That was when he remembered driving it drunk into town and forgetting he left it there. Got out of the parking tickets as he'd reported it stolen.

They're quite different cars. The 540 is heavier, has more torque and power, but as with all larger cars, the chuckability is compromised. The 330 would most likely be a more engaging drive. You really need to test drive both to see what suits you. I havn't driven a 330 yet (even though I looked at buying one a few months back - never got past the looking stage). The 540's are very quick, but in a kind of detached way - they sound awesome, but they are so smooth, you don't get the sensation of going fast until you are going very fast. I imagine the 330 would be more fun, and you'd be using more of the rev range.

All 6 cyl e30 boxes are interchangeable. The only thing to remember is that if the motor is pre f/l then you need the crankangle and position sensors on the gearbox bellhousing. So in short. All pre f/l boxes for 6 cyl cars can go on any 6 cyl motor. f/l boxes can only go on f/l cars unless you plan to drill and tap holes for the sensors. The larger getrag 260 from the 325's is stronger, but the 240 from the 320's isn't bad. And they aren't that expensive really - as little as $400-500 if you wait for a cheapie. A year or two ago I bought 240 manual conversion for my 325. A week later I found a 260 for even less on TM, so I bought it. Sold the 240 slightly cheaper than I paid for it and broke even on the swap.

I think if you go in expecting close-up action such as that delivered on the show, you'll be dissappointed. If you go in after and action packed show with a motorsport theme with lots of stunts, laughs noise and fire/explosions, I bet its an awesome show - I can't imagine them doing it "bad".

e39's themselves are excellent cars. The problem as Apex says is unmaintained examples. They are more costly to maintain than your average jappa, and hence, now they are cheap enough for all and sundry to own, maintenance is often skimped on. Get a pre-purchase inspection from a BMW specialist and you should end up with a great car. Welcome to the forum.

You'd have to really stretching the imagination there! They don't make a non-AMG SL65. The non-AMG car is called a SL600 (v12) or SL500 (v8). The SL55 SL63 and SL65 are the AMG models. The SL63 didn't have a v12. So unless they are trying to say the motor without the turbos is the lower figure, but then I don't read it that way. Or maybe the "black" version is the higher figure, but then again it doesn't say that either. In retrospect this is probably what they meant, but I've had to read it a few times to get that. Still utter rubbish.

My g/f is an ambo, and Dad was for 16 years. Same applies to running reds - they are allowed with lights and siren, but if they hit someone (or someone hits them) they are in the wrong and will be prosecuted. I'd say similar would happen with the speeding.

OK, Powerflex ones go in very easily. They have a bevelled flange (sharks tooth) at each end which makes them go in easily, but very hard to get out - thus don't need friction caused by a very tight fit to hold them in place. They are 2-piece bushes with supplied grease and the inner part rotates within the outer. So I guess it depends on the bushes.

CHEAP CAR! good luck with the sale. If it was close to home I'd buy it for the paddock track.
