  1. Hot. The cabby is the only new 3-er that suits the new rear end.
  2. Your best bet is to find something at a price you can afford and then ask what we think. If you decide to go H&R or vogtland I'll give you the details of the nz distributor. Tell him your from bimmersport and he'll look after you.

Sorry I don't follow - fogging the light?
  4. At the moment I'm being looked after quite well by H&R so I'll recommend them. Also, Vogtland, Eibach etc are good. Jamex and King Springs are one step down (generally speaking) but many find them fine. Shocks - Koni's, and Bilsteins are pretty good. There are lots of brands. As with most things you get what you pay for.

Never seen that before. Might be custom. Not sure I like it. Looks OK, but putting the plate down by the bumper looks dumb, and unless you move your number plate lights into your bumper you'll fail a WOF, plus if you start cutting up your bumpers you may be in hot water regarding a WOF them too (not sure on this one).
  6. Would like to talk to the previous owner about the conversion. Can you give me contact details, or pass mine on to him?

Not sure what you mean - post up a picture.
  8. Thats exactly what I did on my car before the current springs. Looked like this on 17's: I can't guarantee you won't have problems without knowing the offset of your wheels. Also, the ride is harsh even on 17's. My springs were quite soft (you can get harder ones) and used to bottom out alot = BAD. Firmer springs would be better as they probably wouldn't bottom out - it'd just be a harser ride again (but bottoming out is pretty f**ken rough on your car and ride too) Also, that low not good for your shocks unlss you have them shortened, and preferrably buy new shocks to match your springs. Its up to you, but that's my advice (and most people's on here). I now have 40mm front and back and still looks good. Plus new springs are H&R Sports with firmer rate. i can't recommend them enough. They have transformed my car. Edit: removed coment about pre-f/l. Your car is facelift - same as mine.
  9. e36 is better design (except for 318ti which shares much of e30 suspension), but I prefer to drive an e30 - more tactile. Also cheaper to do a manual swap.

    clutch

New clutch kit OEM is around $250-300 includes release bearing, friction disc and pressure plate. That is assuming you want to put it in yourself. Don't waste your time with secondhand.
  11. I don't like any BMW made after the e46/e39 generation except the new 6 series. TBH they could make a 3 wheeled car to rival the Reliant for all I care. When they start making good cars again, maybe. Like you say Gus, they are too mainstream. Audi is so rocking their face right now.
  12. Looks black in side-view pick. Also looks like its on bottlecaps in side-on pic.
  13. There is a newer book on turbocharging than corky's with alot of people on other forums of the opinion that corky's book although good for basics is now well out of date with current technology and developments/knowledge, and is in many areas wrong. It explains the basics in very easy to understand language though, and this is other peoples opinion, not mine - I am not qualified to comment. I have read some of Maximum Boost, but not these others that have been recommended: Forced Induction - Alexander Graham Bell (Not the telephone inventor). Turbochargers - Hugh MacAinnes Edit: P.S. Do you want mtech I or mtech II skirts for 2 or 4 door? I don't have any, but you need to specify. How much do you want to spend on lowering sprins? Do you want to "sack it out" or to lower it just enough to improve handling and looks?
  14. Was watching that auction. Looked to be a good car. I wasn't a motorsport bu sounds like it has the motorsport seats out of another BMW (AFAIK e30 motorsport seats never got the m-striping but the m5 and m6 did?? I'll stand corrected though).

    Closet cleanout

No but my stuff is. Why, would that make your day? Hah. BTW portable handheld colour LCD TV added.
  16. It will depend on how wide and what offset your wheels are - offset is how far they stick in or out from the car. But if they are the correct offset then a 40mm drop will look low enough, handle quite well and not cause rubbing issues (or at least easy to fix ones). If you know the width and offset of your wheels it would help. You can drop and e30 around 40-50mm at the front and 60 at the back without needing a cert 90% of the time. The other 10% is for cars that for some reason sit lower due to worn components or other anomalies.
  17. I have a 2.5" drve in a case wih the 2 USB cables as described. Was about a year ago and is an 80GB drive and all up cost was around $250. Hasn't faulted so far. Fujitsu I think - its at work and I can't remember. Really nice Brushed Aluminium case with power switch and leds, and leather wallet to transprot it in.

    Bad press for the M3

I prefer the Audi styling. Jock, I think you'll agree that the better of the e46 M3 and the RS4 isn't really a valid test for the current m3 vs RS4 as they could be totaly different cars (as the e36 was over the e30, the e46 over the e36).

You mean the rear plastic panel that goes between the tail lights? I have one for NZ sized plate. There is a different one for euro szed plates. Make an offer its worth whatever you want to pay for it.
  21. **shakes head** that's a case of open mouth - empty brain lol. I was only looking over one about 5 weeks ago too. And there was one they featured in Classsic Car a few months ago. Even remember the article - Paraphrased: "the corvette engineers hurridley finished assembling the first car and hooked everything up. Unfortunately the car wouldn't start. Diagnosis quickly revealed that it was electrical - they had forgotten that fibreglass doesn't conduct electricity and had hooked all the ground straps up to the body as normal. Metal straps were quickly installed..." Don't know how much truth is in that but that's what the article said. So I should have known.
  22. haha. Know what you mean. Friend: "Bro, you need to put a body kit on your car, and it needs to be lower." Me: "It has one, and it is pretty low - been lower and was sh*t ride and handling - this is optimum street height for these cars" Friend: "BMW body kits look so.... factory. Can't tell that you put that on." Me: "Uhh thanks. That's kind of the point." He didn't realise that telling me that the job I did of fitting tech II myself looked factory was actually a pretty big compliment lol.
  23. I know, but some guys do the same thing for the e30 box.
  24. There are other jap wagons that are alot better reliability wise than a legacy. There are low-capacity holden Acclaim wagons.
  25. Find one yet?? Buy this.
