I'm bringing an empty van to Auckland this Friday evening. If anyone has anything between Kerikeri and Auckland that they need picked up and brought down, I'll help you out. Just buy me a box or two of beers depending on the size of the item and the amount of trouble I have to go to to pick it up/drop it off. Help fund my alcohol addiction, and get yourself some damn cheap freight! That is all.

Heath - you make some valid points, some of which are similar to my personal view. I think the debate has been explored enough now so I'll close the thread for no other reason than to stop some last-minute Larry/Lara stirring it up again. The official line from the moderation team is: the word is not banned, but prolific use or insensitive use of the word, or any other offensive word in or out of context will be moderated on a case by case basis. If you see language you find offensive, please use the report function. Several members have used this to date and it has worked very well. Thanks for those that had valuable input in this discussion.

^^^^Saw that article. Very unfortunate thing to happen involving a Coastguard vessel. They should know better. It's not clear from the article who was at fault (of course the implication was that it was the Coastguard vessel), but regardless both skippers of both vessels had a responsibility to maintain a constant lookout, and take avoiding action to prevent a collision. Coastguard needs to be setting an example, and as the skier was taking part in an approved event on an approved course, the onus must be on Coastguard to make sure they keep out of the skiers way. Glad the skier wasn't more seriously injured. I don't mind the guys in the video so much - they're on private property, and how they treat their skis is their on business. However, on public waterways it is a good example of what NOT to do. I wasn't aware their were areas set aside for skiers - that is an awesome move by the Council (I presume Regional Council initiative?) The land transport department could take note...

Because now the debate is getting heated, the censorship was actually becoming more offensive than the word itself. That's what happens when people behave like children. The mod team are discussing this at present. Most likely there will be no bad word filter, but anyone using the word inappropriately will be moderated. Will announce details tomorrow. Keep it friendly everyone, you're all entitled to your own opinions.

And I went for a ride in that death trap!!!!! Just joking - man those things are fooked! Were you aware that it was happening? Notice any change in the braking over time? Wonder how much horsepower it was using???

We have rivers up here you know.... In any case, filmed near Helensville. Older members will remember Steve-KB posting this up.... Love the bit at the end!

Jetskis are great fun. Pity so many are owned by tossers. Those particular idiots are the ones that are going to create compulsory boat registration, and licensing for recreational skippers. Which REALLY pisses me off. I'm involved alot with recreational boating through one way or another and clock thousands of hours on the water a year. Occasionally you see some guy in a larger boat being a jackass. Occasionally you see some guy on a jetski being responsible. Note the difference. Ruins it for the rest of us. Night riding is fun, but only if you have some sort of nav lights, and know what you're doing. Not being seen and not knowing EXACTLY where you are in the dark is not cool. Your ski looks like a barrel of laughs - I'd quite confidently say its a tad more powerful than what I'd be happy to handle. I drive boats of 300-600hp at 30-55kts, but they're 8-12m long, so very different to that much power on a ski. I'll dig out an old video of a bimmersport member and friends having some fun on some skis during the 2007 floods....

Looking for some plush accommodation near Auckland Airport. 4-5 stars. Top notch service, decent breakfast, nice, well-appointed rooms a must. Pool, gym, etc a bonus. Spa baths, or spa pool would be really good. Balconies, or good, sunny areas to lounge in would also be good. It'll be in late spring, so weather should be fine by then. Closer to the airport, the better. Anyone stayed near there able to recommend somewhere? We've stayed at Waipuna Lodge, and in the Villas at Formosa Golf Course before, and that is roughly the standard we're after, but they're both too far from the airport.

That's similar to my view. It would be better to educate people about use of language than to "legislate" them into compliance. But changed r aped to vtecd is pretty funny, so for now we've gone with it.

asterisking out letters of swear words has always baffled me. Does the word hurt your eyes and by asterisking it, all of a sudden it is no longer offensive??? Surely a word so offensive as to require censoring from text should be entirely removed? As asterisking a few letters still leaves no doubt as to what word was being said. It's like whispering when you swear - it makes it sound as though you are trying to be in-offensive, but in reality you are still cursing. How is f**ked better than f ucked?

Any suggestions as to what alternative word can be inserted for the auto-censor?
-
I've never found it offensive. Provided it's in the correct context . In my view, moaning about it due to the fact that it also describes a particularly vile type of crime, is a tad PC. However, if enough find it offensive its a 2minute job to add it to the auto-censor list. From my experience it's in fairly common general use in social situations. Should we also stop calling things "gay" and "homo" as they may be offensive to homosexuals? Or the word "murder" i.e. "I got murdered at the strip on the Jag Club Drag day"? I know I'm being picky, but I think we all know that the term isn't being used in an insensitive way, in which case, as adults we can choose not to take offence.

I watched your other vids. You lot are as feral as Northlanders!

Sounds like awesome fun, Heath. Those new brakes should do the trick for avoiding vehicles trying to cut you off on the motorway huh?

Can't Remove Aftermarket Headunit
bravo replied to charles28's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Remove the covers from inside the glovebox, then you can get to the top and that side of the cage and maybe bend the tabs on the cage so you can slide the whole works out, cage and all. Without actually having a look at it from in the car, I can't help more than that. It'll be a fairly simple clip arrangement, but there are 3 or 4 types. -
You can swap the bearings over yourself if you have a few tools and mechanical skills. Or get someone to do it as suggested above. No biggie.

You're on the right track. "Hunting" idle is often a vacuum leak. Check all of the hoses on the intake path after the Air Flow Meter, and on the intake manifold for poor connections, or cracks/leaks. Is it only when cold or warm? or both? Could be a sticky cold start valve?

Check the fuse. Fuse #7 15Amp If it's not that, let us know.
