  1. WebRep currentVote noRating noWeight yeap depends on why you want to do it, on a road car its really not worth it, yes you will be chewing out tyres quicker without it, but depending what tyres you use, you really need to travel about 160,000kms before you break even = chances are you would have sold it or otherwise moved on by that point…. cost to buy the brackets cost to buy E39 M5 offsets welding and fitting costs certification (yes you need this as its a suspension modification) of course, on a track car, its bit different, but then you wouldn't be using and E34 for that most likely. if your subframe is bent etc just replace with a known good one
  2. highlights were one of those Renovator Multi tools that are advertised on TV every 3 seconds Also one person brought all the blokes of my family a trip to Boomrock at some stage so that should be great fun. If you don't know what it is click link below http://www.boomrock.co.nz
  3. yes i attempted the warehouse too which is inside the mall here, luckily they had a cash only lane (this day in age), and i just so happened to have cash on me which is like never, one side of the family had christmas on sunday. so everyone using the new pay and go cards or whatever they are called they were the slow ones! forgot to get one thing, but same as you, i aint going back i swear i spent more time driving there and looking for a park than actually shopping too, ordinarily it would be 5-10 minutes tops to get there and be inside.
  4. I'm about to step out the door and battle it, this may be my last post ever and its been great knowing you all
  5. are you sure its not a/the charchoal canister you are looking at? but i guess its possible it has both
  6. +1 Cheers all, been great meeting a lot more of you this year, the Auckland guys at Brian's memorial at the start of the year, and the Brewery Run particular highlights for me All the best
  7. did you take the screw out of the thermostat? an e30 is easy to bleed whether M20 or M40 engine, if air is still coming into the system there will be a leak somewhere maybe small head gasket failure or pinhole in a hose etc
  8. looks like a lot of car for less than $12k, id rock one for sure, and probably will some day
  9. the car is in auckland, swap before you come back
  10. haven't seen it in the back doors before (probably because less use) but front doors get it quite often, the cable does stretch in these cars. check the screw behind the handle inside the car is nice and snug, you might need to take off a little plastic disk cover if it is still there. also check that at the base of the grab handle there is a clip inside the door, just give the base of the grab handle a few hits make sure it is still clipped on, you will feel it move if it has popped off. If that doesn't help, take the door card off and where the cable should go into a gold coloured clip, check that is still present and hasn't slipped if it still doesn't solve, new cable time, don't get second hand. Thankfully i haven't got to that stage yet so i can't tell you a price or procedure but shouldn't be too hard to swallow. The USA guys on my other forum are always complaining about the cables on all 4 doors and its the same setup as our cars here. The other two problems sway bars and radiator also major, one will overheat the car other can help you loose control either without much effort. but both not too expensive to fix, but definitely not a good idea to drive the car
  11. one of my very good mates brother has been toying with this idea, his mini hasn't seen the road for 4 or 5 years since I've known him, probably longer. definitely would be putting it in the back if it was me too, the rear seats are pretty pointless anyways, mind you I am 6'3"
  12. not interested in an E34 Touring are you? have one that will be for sale very soon
  13. my "girl" got a new viscous fan clutch and a fuel filter. forever alone.
  14. Towing probably but most will still be driven by mom dropping kids to school. Anyone wanting an off roader would still get a new hilux with a backpack.
  15. ahh you didn't specify car trailer. worst comes to the worst Hirepool is good, and all staff have the authority to discount the price should you be assertive enough...
  16. hahaha, we have had some real winners this last week, thank goodness its over!
  17. almost any Service station, $35/5hours, can't get much better than that
  18. i just get pissed off having to buy presents they don't want, for people i don't like with money i don't have (for them anyways)
  19. Got your private message. its probably going to perish anyways, they all do and expensive to fix "properly" just swap some normal E34 suspension in and away you go. Sedan and Touring are the same so all cross compatible.
  20. many people post on the topic before, seems to be fresh brake fluid essential and fresh transmission oil if automatic, any thing else well depends how hard you want to push the car Maybe we could make a sticky on it, it does get asked enough…?
  21. yes I have crashed one of my E34s in the past, very minor damage to my car and the other car (Honda 4 door, Integra i think) was C-shaped, same thing, pulling across my lane i would have been in his blind spot. Might be 18 or 20 year old car, but they are built like tanks.
  22. I have plenty here, how many do you need? can't remember how many the E30s have
  23. WebRep currentVote noRating noWeight yeah its good stuff. spray it on and leave it to penetrate for a bit. every bit helps when you have a bitch nut. I have one of these in 17mm and 10mm, for the two types of transmission plugs i have come across on BMWs so far. put my power bar on it sometimes with an extension too, and it will pop out. if you are going to buy a socket like that, make sure you get a one piece socket 1/2" drive, not the cheaper two piece type
  24. I know where one is in wellington, parks just down the road from my friends old house, might even be the same car, see hardly any around though. Best turbo diesel engine though? i think not. maybe for the early 2000's
