  1. Maybe im just annoyed at spending over $2k, but when the E30 section has a VW as its picture, it doesnt install a lot of faith! if you look at the pictures, and assuming thats what your getting, the spring rate appears to change with the ride height instead of being independently adjustable, and also there are helper springs which i think are not allowed for cert in NZ. i may be mislead on this point tho, my coil overs do not have them so didnt need to look into it. http://www.jomcoilovers.co.uk/JOM-Coilover...Series-E30.html
  2. Volante here, sorry Ray! if i had to pick a BM it would be the E38 anyways!

you can get 4 and 4S for around $600 if your a smart and aggressive shopper. If this weeks unveiling is a 4GS instead of the 5, then the prices ail stay, otherwise may fall again. 1-day.co.nz had them at this price i think on friday or saturday, but any telecom/vodaphone shop will do this. Im a Mac fan, but i honestly view iOS products differently, on the whole i think they are overpriced junk, (the viewpoint of Windows lovers on the entire Apple brand i know!) i do not own an iPod, and i dont use my iPad ever. but faced with the alternative android i had for quite some time, i found myself choosing an iPhone 4S anyways. so my input is that the iPhones are the lesser of two evils, and i only have a smart phone at all because i needed to choose one for work. apart from Xero accounting and email, its just another phone to me. No experience with the Windows ones, but minimal market share combined with the fact i think their desktop OS is unstable made my mind up on those.
  4. nice, not a huge fan of non-BMW powered swaps, but an SR20 would be good. there used to be a white one rolling around wellington, owner used to be on here too, but havent seen it for a while, pretty sure there was a build thread here too. was a white sedan with a front mount behind the front valance not sticking out, i sold him a few bits back in the day
  5. $450 for a set of coil overs? are you sure???? are they adjustable for that coin other than height? ground control do a bolt in 30 way E30 setup for around $1800US, then you have to get it here, and you almost definately will be hit with GST etc too. but they are supposedly the best money can buy.
  6. your not alone, i sold my M318i to a crowd in Akaroa, did all my part and so fourth, but still kept receiving letters and eventually got listed with ECC (basically the same as Baycorp everyones heard of). Have only just sorted it out now, i think..... if its not sorted ill just get a set of europlates with the combination on them and hand those in to the AA instead, like you suggest, thats not a bad idea. I guess why bother with rego when you live in Akaroa lol
  7. that must be a common question, apparently all late model BMWs don't have any dipsticks except maybe thier owners
  8. M5 one is 120 + GST brand new from BMW, just a heads up
  9. plates.co.nz have just annouced small form factor plates, they are the same width as normal NZ plates, but 25mm shorter
  10. I thought alomg the same lines!!
  11. you cant go much faster in one empty
  12. really too heavy for serious offroading. Me and My dad used to go 4x4ing a lot (we had a purpose built Nissan powered Suzuki SJ410), from memory there was only one LandRover i ever saw that left the park up fields and got mucky. Same as LandCruisers. Though if you were meaning more along the lines of taking to the beach or on a farm light duty 4x4 stuff they are good, and as you say towing a trailer, they are good. as said above the Rover engines arent the most bullet proof. Talk to Jon at JKS hes got a bit more experience with them etc.
  13. sorry bud, not for me either!
  14. I have that as one of my saved searches on Trademe. interestingly the vast majority of them coming through are in the south island. there was a 2107 which is the "luxury" version which appeared immaculate garaged its whole life etc on there about 4 months ago. i would have gone to see it if i was closer to home!
  15. one M40B16 in the driveway is enough for a lifetime!
  16. picking it up on saturday week. she wont be any M52 318ti, but should be good enough.
  17. you might be looking at ebay just because its an E31 unfortunately. NZ is a small place
  18. nothing wrong with a Lada mate, id take a 2104 in a heartbeat if i could find one with minimal rust. Pity my old one one was too rusty to do anything with, would be my fourth favourite car ive owned after my M52 E30, the M70 E34 and the tech2 318i in that order.
  19. obviously im not on SNZ forum, but is there any group accommodation arrangements etc sorted? I have free accommodation in National Park which i will use if there isn't, (its only 40 minutes or so to Taupo from there) but if there is a "casual few beverages" etc afterwards somewhere or anything like that......?
  20. quite happy for this to go off topic clint, makes for interesting discussion! I didn't realise my dish washer is a dollar a load, i thought it would be less than that. and no wonder my power bill has gone up over winter, my "energy efficient" heatpump uses 50c an hour! works about right by my rough calculation, i dont use electric blankets etc or anything else any different between summer and winter! certainly a "look after the pennys and the pounds will look after themselves" situation huh!
  21. could try this crowd too, sounds like its "Greg."s work maybe. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/wrecked-ca...n-510537352.htm
  22. lot of good suggestions in here. Im considering the V1 and the beltronics STi, moreso the former. My question is, while they are better than the competition from cobra etc, are they worth the extra cost? i plan to buy another soon, I have had two cobras now, the first one i blew up hardwiring, and the second i gave to a mate of mine that "needs it more than I do at the moment" please dont derail this controversial thread and keep that sort of comment to yourself..
  23. different brands have reacted differently i think. BMWs have certainly gone up, while Mercs from the 90s have gone way below what they used to be. Hard to find cars worth buying to fixup and sell these days, so ive pretty much stopped this past year.
