page 9 and 10 of this. http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/suplementary_information/LVVTA_LVV_Cert_Threshold.pdf looks to be a bit of a grey area, but would take it to mean aslong as they are built for the car, that would be fine. However you would need the setup that matches your car, eg you couldnt put a 523i system into a 540i as spring rates would be different etc. You will also get errors come up on the dash, unless Josh can flash it out for ya

That is much more comprehensive than the one I used, and looks really good. However, the last one i used was also by Shogun, so i suspect this link is a revision. The brushes were my biggest trip up point, though the one i used also said nothing about syncronisation either, though thats built into the EML unit anyways, and constantly adjusting When you are searching on the M70 V12 engine, you will see the name Shogun pop up a lot, he is the go to guy for not only the M70 engine, but E32 750iL, and can tell you anything you want to know of the top of his head, seemingly down to particular wire colours to particular places etc. I dont know if he knows the E31 850Ci to the same level of detail, but the M70 engine is the same between the 850i/Ci and 750i/iL. When typing stuff into google, i tend to include his name as a keyword.

yep, no E30s came like that, even M3

3.91 is a very high ratio for V12. you will be reving the tits out. I have a LSD in my 750iL you are most welcome to, havent got it out to check the ratio yet, but will be lower than 3.91
-
i should hope so now you run BMWCCNZ Wellington
-
E46 M3s just dont look the same anymore with thier lowly I6s

Brent can probably help, but have a E34 here for bits if he doesnt

Lol Id say. E21 = meh, but the combis!

Yes M70 run fine on 91 It makes no difference if you put 91 or 95 in it Reference: have tried on runs to AKL and back on several ocassions on both
-
Yep thats worse than mine, best i have seen is 10.7L/100km and that was on a run to coromandle with my great grandma in the car..... usually 12 on the trip too or from Auckland, including passing every oppertunity, and a good bit of fun through the Ohakune National Park Road. But 25L/100km around town is very achievable. I have had mine in the 30s hahaha

quite a few running round now, i gues the prices on the M3 donor is nothing now think yours will be first in New Zealand though

Aftermarket / Performance M60B40 ECU chipping.
_ethrty-Andy_ replied to sonic_attack's topic in Performance
wouldnt you be better off getting your current DME remapped to your exact car, diff setup, trans set up etc rather than using a jack-of-all-trades chip? Put it this way, personally i would be much more comfortable spending $1k and KNOWING i have the best tune possible for my car, than buying an unknown chip for half that and crossing my fingers there is a gain. -
Cute that you are complaining about lack of room around the V12 in your enourmous engine bay on the earlier type M70 there are three sensors on the back of the head on right hand bank (drivers side on your car, between the head and the firewall), cant remember what they all do, but they are there, and i know one is for the cluster. one is probably DME and the other Fan or something like that. Im not sure if they are on the later M70/M73 but i can check tomorrow, its pouring with rain here so im not about to go check!! If you want me to take pictures I will of the 750iL thats here, the 550 Touring has no room, and is the earlier type engine anyways.

ok. DK throttle motors are a very common fail point on these motors, i guess that comes with the electronic throttle system ten years before its time. there is a crowd in the UK that refurbish them professionally, I have a few pairs here I am considering sending over, even though one pair is known perfect, and the other pair one or both faulty. Interestinly, this is a case of higher milage cars actually being better, they seem to fail due to lack of use. For example, the ones that came on my engine did only 90,000 before dying, the set in it now are ok not quite perfect, not sure how many KMs, but Brent (BM World) sent that engine to wellington, he may know. and the perfect set i have have done 250,000km Wouldnt really want to send the good pair up to you in case they get banged up or dropped in transit etc, but i could bring them next time I am up. There is really nothing in them that you can service yourself, i followed a write up on the net, and made them even worse, and i like to think i know what I am doing, so probably a job for professionals????

what V12 bits do you need? i just picked up a 750iL parts car
-
looks good! engine was about 200,000 plus whatever you have done in it. so getting on a bit i guess, and its had a pretty heavy life. missed the post on the brakes???? have you posted about that??

Having said all this, I have just driven all round the North Island in my Toyota Hiace which wont go over 90km/h and not a single hairy situation. Are we all under 100km/h when we are analysing the roads??? Yes some of it is pretty bad, but on the whole i think the standard they are is fine. The decision making on how the money is spent is the poor condition factor here. Do it once, do it right. But having said that, if you had the government as a client with infinite money (which it is), why would you do it right when you know they will just ask you to do it again if its not done, charge them twice etc. Yep i know where you mean, i just did it in a 7 series and still shaking all over the place. My E34 on its coilovers, i wont go any quicker than 70-80 through there. Yep Id agree to that. Yep i know all about that too..

Hiace looks good, wish i could drive it. E46 is fun! sorry for putting it over 170,000!

All M70s run rich. in the DME box there is a temperature sensor that communicates with a fan in the box. Some markets the fan is wired to run all the time so no sensor. That would be my best guess. If its anything directly critically related to the running of the engine, there will be one exactly the same on the other side of the engine bay. so if there is only one, it wont be anything like inlet air temperature etc etc

dont show everyone it!!!!
