how good an idea is this thread?

My cousin currently has 3 kids, both her and her husband/Partner are on the dole - she gets the DBP and other benefits due to them stating he's a flatmate or something. She earns more than her brother who works 40+ hours a week as an engine reconditioner. Its disgusting. She has never worked, she was joking around last time i saw her about 8 years ago, saying if she worked it out she would be on about 55 - 60k a year.

Dan - flick me your CV... It might be lower than what you want - but i think we are looking for some more helpdesk staff.. (it's what i'd call a 1.5 level roll....)

here is your loop-hole: NOTE: Until (generally speaking) the 1980s, motor vehicle floor-pans were never built with the necessary under-body space (floor-pan height in particular) to provide sufficient room and air-space for catalytic converters. Therefore, if a production vehicle was not originally equipped with catalytic converters, it is most likely there will not be sufficient space in the floor-pan area to enable the retro-fitting of ‘cats’, whilst still maintaining a safe amount of airspace (necessary because of the heat generated by the ‘cats’) around them.

I've heard mixed things about king springs... some very very good (mainly race springs) other very bad (mainly road springs), the biggest complaint from the guys i know that complained about them was different settling heights.

Karl - not just this comment 'WRC Peugeot cup cars" was misleading... they are basically a caged, stripped, 1.6ltr. Got to say he did damm well... again love people that drive with no regard for the car. Most people back off as it's a massive investment and don't want to kill it.
-
got to love people that drive with no regard for the car... the 206's he was against where the xs cup cars (1.6ltr) and group n evo's/wrx's... he had the e30 m3 engine in the car.
-
Why they are not fun to work on... Hate how cramped the engine bays are...

307 HDI wagon - manual... full glass roof... then talk to Keith about the H&R springs he's got in stock for them

Maybe it's changed... But it seams like everyone i've spoken too still lives by that rule... If it's changed it's changed... thats all good... still i need new lines in the rear to clear the body work...
-
as far as i'm aware it hasn't changed... I was even told this when i took the car in for a WOF. The little asian dude dueing the inspection let it go as they where in good condition... same guy that didn't pull me up for having no auth card, but failed me on my targa windscreen banner

I'll keep looking on the LTSA site, but on page 8: http://www.racebrakes.co.nz/pdf/brake_upgrade.pdf "For a long time, virtually any type of braided brake hose was O.K, but they needed to be signed off by a low volume vehicle certifier, which meant that the car had to have a low volume certificate. Now the LTSA requires the braided hose itself to meet an approved standard, which is marked on the hose so the testing station guys can pass them, and does away with the need to certify the vehicle."
-
I was informed that they all need certification tags now.

haha this is not a standard car... non-standard = $$$

Update: 16 March So after the drive day last month and having the rear brakes seize on me figured it would be a good idea to sort that out this month... I thought the problem was with the rear calipers needing a rebuild but it turns out they are perfectly fine, BUT the master cylinder for the handbrake was completely seized! Thats now been replaced but has led us to another problem... The pistons in the factory rear brakes are too small, and are doing jack sh*t... We are getting 20 bar to the caliper but with a 5/8's master on the hydro handbrake it will not lock the rear brakes. Also means the rear brakes when using the foot pedal are doing crap all... grrrrr Found this to confirm what I've been told about the master size. I'm now going to be hunting around for new rear brakes or seeing if we can put a new brake on my carrier so we don't need to run spacers or adapters... I've also been thinking that as I've increased the master size for the foot pedal to compensate for the front brakes being larger to get a better feeling pedal I've adversely effected the rear brakes now. yes all the compensators/factory bias valves have been removed... I dropped off my 1.6 gti calipers to see if they could be used on the rear and the pad carrier from 1.6 gti front calipers fits perfectly as a replacement for the pad carrier on the factory rear 1.9 gti/306 calipers. So i've now got the option of larger vented rear discs if i want. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 19 March Ok... hate the car again... i am sick of soooooooo many things... Current bill = roughly $1500.... Rear brakes now WORK! with the 1.6 gti front pad carriers on the rear. They will lock up with the foot brake and the handbrake so now the bias valve will actually do something! Better to have too much force in the rear which you can dial out with the bias valve than not have any force, i think... could be wrong... Bad news: All the braided lines need to be replaced as they do not have the lovely tag on them to make the legal in nz = new lines to be made for all 4 wheels which = $$$ The elbow on the caliper to where the brake line fits the rear brakes now hits the body work on full compression = either mod the body work or see about when the new lines are made to see if something can be done to fix this. = $$$$$$ do the problems ever end? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 19 March - lunch time Bill now expected to be $2500. =;-( Estimated cost for new bango fitted brake lines = $850, that includes a bled nipple being added to the handbrake master. The brake lines will be run on the rear brakes down the caliper and along the trailing arms so they do no interfere with the body work anymore. I hate how much this is costing me....

306's don't fall apart it was the easly 205/309's that did that... =;-) my 306 was bullet proof...

hopefully the sounds better this time

it's really funny so much of the looks of the cars change with lowering and wheels. I'll more than happly say most e30's ae ugly to me. The nice ones all have work done to them. I know so many people that will forgive the looks of a car once they drive them. I'd say test drive as manY different cars as you can to experance a range of cars.

anouther frenchie! Greg. My 306 didn't cost me much at all... just regular maintenance and things you would expect with wear and tear... i.e. control arm bushes, harmonic balancer (170,000km). Give how much abuse the car got it was much more reliable then people thought. Also, Auckland to taupo with a full car load of GF's crap, spare race tyres, tools, etc.. then 20 laps on the full track, and still had 1/4 of a tank in the car...

get a 306 xsi for a daily... Pug
