  1. Level was about a half inch below cold mark whilst engine still hot. topped back up full, opened bleeder screw yada yada. Just ran motor back up to operating temp, needle now sitting rock steady at usual half point. oddly, heater still doesn't blow hot air unless revs at 2k or higher. Am now thinking a possible blockage in heater hoses? Can't get arm in to have a feel (spatial co-ordination isn't my strong point and I'm really sick of burnt hands) but given the amount of sh*t that came out of the motor and hoses when I replaced the radiator it kinda seems like it might be part of the problem? Further to the point, I haven't noticed any green drips under the car, so how the hell could I have needed to put in nearly 2.2 litres of water. Oil is clear of water and vice versa.Edit: Check coolant level is still showing on the check unit. Given the overflow bottle is totally opaque how does one know if it's overfilled?
  2. Hey all, noticed the temp gauge on the 325i rapidly climb over 3/4 at the bottom of my driveway this arvo. Had just driven through typical peak hour Auckland motorway traffic with no apparent issues (bout 40 min transit home), and did about 500 ks open road over the weekend without showing any signs of trouble. Water pump, thermostat, thermo housing, radiator, fan and viscous coupling were all replaced less than 12 months ago so I'd be pretty surprised if there's any issues there. What would be the likelihood of an airlock causing the problem? as always all constructive suggestions welcome Edit: have noticed the heater hasn't been pumping the hot air at the same rate as usual, put it down to the heater tap being full of gunge - another job I've been procrastinating over.
  3. Just laughed a mouthful of coffee all over my shirt Win!!

  8. were money to be no object, this: Eagle E-Type In reality land, a B8 Alpina touring. Technically it isn't a BMW. Win!
  9. +1 It's a 22 year old car with 210+ km on the clock. Yeah it's straight but 5k is beyond a laughing matter for it. Offer $1750 off the bat, go to 2k if you're feeling generous. Pretty pictures usually hide ugly truths.
  10. Sorry man. not trying to bag anyone for their choice in vehicle. Am still astounded that such a high priced, supposedly well-specced SUV could be such a stinking pile of crap. Might have been that the old fella bought a lemon but have heard similar stories from other former owners supporting my experiences. Granted his was an '01 so very much a different vehicle to yours but I did always find it interesting that Ford discontinued the line after only two incarnations ( 'scuse the pun) Old school Land Rover is always cool. Could be a real arse finding parts but hell, how much worse can it be than a Bimmer?
  11. My old man had an Exploder for about 7 months before he got rid of it. His 4l V6 used twice the fuel as my 5.7l V8, trans blew itself to bits trying to leave our cul-de-sac, steering and suspension were scarily sloppy and bit of interior trim used to part company with their fixings on a regular basis. Ended up taking it back to the dealer principal and demanded a refund on good faith - they replaced it with a Hilux. SUV had only done 80k when purchased, did less than 8k in the time he had it. Biggest, thirstiest, ugliest POS I've ever driven in my life. Toyota FTW
  12. Selling the 28?? Whats next in the pipeline then. or is that a big secret??
  13. This makes me jealous on more levels than I care to admit!!
  14. +1. Any car with a market value of <5k would have a max realistic worth of 1k with a buggered head. However going by the photos he'd possibly make back more $ by selling wheels, bumper, seats then scrapping the rest. Just my 5c
  15. 552 bhp & 479 lbf·ft of torque and somehow they put an interior like that with it? Life has a cruel sense of humour sometimes
  16. Cos it's BMW. And nothing is simple or straightforward with ze Germans. Undeniably logical, frequently clever, but never simple
  17. Cleaned all the gunge out of the trunk drain channel and siliconed the tears in the trunk seal, bailed out the new water feature in the spare tyre well. Stupid weather bomb
  18. Runs so bloody smooth, the body is totally gonna fall apart first. Which hole do you tip the Red Bull into??

Bloody hell, they didn't leave much behind for you to work with!!!
  20. Have got a used metal impeller M50 pump here if it's any use to you. Removed from the 325i as a precaution when I rebuilt the cooling system 12 months back. Far as I can tell it seems to be in ok condition, not sure if I have a spare O-ring though. PM if interested
  21. Finally replaced rocker cover gasket and took the grinder to the manky flaking paint on the cover. Now can't stop myself humming Rammstein when I open the hood
