  1. Well, I think we have a solution. We swapped the style 68 wheels (17 x 8.5 et50 255/40/17 rears) with the style 18 wheels (17 x 8.5 et41 245/40/17 rears) from my wifes e46. This seemed to solve the inner tyre rubbing, but outer guards will still need rolling (was going to do this anyway). The fronts on the style 68 and style 18 are identical (17 x 7.5 et41 225/45/17) so no problems there. Weirdly, the style 68s on the rear of my wifes car are now incredibly close to the inner part of the car - can only just fit my pinky through the gap? These wheels were stock on the sport e46 (albeit with 245's instead of 255's) yet seem a very tight fit. Her car is a non sport - is there something else different with the non sports that make the rear wheels so close?   2. Out for a cruise with Conor and we spotted an i8. We turned around and followed it for a bit and Conor got a couple of pics.
  3. On holiday in Bali I spotted this new model and took secret photos specially for bimmersport members. It features a new design, on a lighter weight chassis with special racing wheels. Even the badges have been replaced with a painted on version all in a quest to save weight. Teaser photos below;
  4. Nice looking car. Just make sure they use the correct oil, as beemers are very picky on the oils they use.
  5. Ok, so today we took the wheels off the back of my mates e36. The wheels are style 68's http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/bmw/68 The rubbing was pretty easy to spot; It probably looks worse in the pictures, but does need to be sorted. Can this area be 'persuaded' to move inwards a few mms? Also, the car has a very small amount of extra camber (guessing half a degree) on the rear - if that is removed will that possibly solve the problem? The good news is its not hitting the shock - I can easily fit my hand between the tyre and the shock.

  7. I will be rolling the guards anyway, but sounds like its best to change the wheels.
  8. Is a cert expensive, and does it effect insurance? Is it possible to hammer the inner guard back a few mm?

  11. Wanting to fit spacers to the rear of an e36 coupe, but want to know if they are legal first. Will they void insurance? Rear tyres are rubbing inner guard - alternately can the inner guard be hammered back a few mm? Rears are 255/40/17 on 17 x 8.5 offset 50 msport wheels.

  14. omg omg omg! You can see why Ferrari avoided this test for so long. On a side note, mclaren is working with bmw to make a bmw hypercar with four turbos and minimum 750 hp. Wont be ready for two years though.
  15. BNZ for the win. 13.45% (most other banks are over 20%) and flybuys. Our mortgage is with BNZ also so we get heaps of flybuy points each month.   17. Not to be negative, but I just did a manual seat to electric seat conversion in my wifes e46 and the wiring was a real bastard. If I had known I would not have attempted it - the entire fusebox had to be completely dismantled just so I could tap into the back of it. Hopefully its not as mad on a e34, but my advice would be to read up on it first.

    Maybe work out what you will get if you sold off the m3 parts that are not going to be used, like the m3 suspension, m3 interior, m3 wheels and tyres. However I suspect you wont get as much as you would selling the m3, and then buying a 318i, plus m3 diff, plus engine and box of your choice. Also if you scrape a 318i on the track, it wont be as bad as doing the same to a m3.

  20. I'm enjoying Fantomworks on discovery turbo. The guy is a grumpy bugger, but he is a perfectionist and every car is absolutely perfect.
