  1. Yes indeedy, mine has rotational speed sensors. Excellent point! I think you've nailed it there, Paul!
  2. @treone would you settle for a V12?
  3. Hiya Tommy, and welcome to Bimmersport. Great to see another e21 in the ranks, and what a great connection having belonged to your grandparents. Plenty of knowledge on here, and helpful folks. Also some parts available from specialist dismantlers resident here too. Love the Colour, and the twin lamp grille. Looks like a 323i with the grille and wheels. ?
  4. I'd be very interested in your pictures and video, Graeme. Well done!
  5. It can be right, and is right. If you take a look at parts prices from reputable motor factors in the UK for vehicles like Ford Mondeos and Vauxhalls, you're paying about 25 quid for an OEM rotor, and 20 quid for a set of pads. Though this may rise as Brexit approaches. Can I suggest you've been conditioned to the very high prices we generally pay for anything in NZ (and I'm not bitching about why things cost more here!), and may be overlooking that there's a useful bit of leverage between the NZD and the Sterling &/or Euro, currently.
  6. welcome, Kaine. that looks like a bunch of fun. do subscribe the the Wellington Meetings room, that way you'll get a notification of any events coming up. There's a bunch of us getting the revitalisation of the BMW Car Club NZ - Wellington chapter - underway; you might consider joining the club also. I'm looking forward to a closer look at all that carbon fibre.
  7. yep. I understand why people buy a Prius; though enjoying driving is not one of those reasons. The nearest one gets - behind the wheel of a Prius - is operating a vehicle. I will concede they're a better drive than a Honda City, though!
  8. ah yes, Polo. I'd forgotten about Polo. I did attend a match not long before we left blighty, lots of rather good NZ Wines and plenty of well-heeled totty. We hoovered a reasonable quantity of wine and canapes in the sunshine and laughed a lot. Don't recall much about the Polo, though.

I like it. dont have a use for it, but hey it looks cool. 70's Bertone futurist meets 2019 leading edge.
  10. $160 incl freight for a pair of rotors and pads, by Mintex? That sounds more like the consumable pricing they should wear, than the 'max out you credit cards, "honey we're going on the Kraft Dinner diet again" plan' that you get with parts prices here. hope they work out well. Got em on already (to be sure)?
  11. fixed that for ya: [BMW Boardroom] ""Mercedes did their R-class... It wasn't a huge success, but I'm sure we should let them think that we're going to do something similar, so they'll keep making their losses on it. We certainly don't need a huge, ugly vehicle that's too big for school mums to drive... Let Mercedes continue to plow that field, we'll work on something that we can *sell* that also *works*"
  12. Interesting tyre wear! shame about the M3, hopefully it's repairable. What happened?
  13. (Slightly off-topic) Man do I have an opportunity for you! Advance directly to go with your own 70-200 2.8 VR lens. Mine's looking for a new home ?. $1450 back in topic - it'd be awesome. Though my wife has asked how often I'm filling up the e60... an M5 would blow her mind ?

    Quick rant thread.

7.9%?? Sod that, they're taking the p!ss I'm about to sell my Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR lens... $1450 incl GST, they'd be netting about $112 from me for the pleasure. Time for eBay to enter the NZ market.

cool man. same company, but the team's based up there?
  16. congrats on the house sale. Nice e39 Msport 530i Touring showed up on face balls yesterday. though you know I'm gonna say 545i is the solution #8 )
  17. that's gold. +1 for Bentley. Had Bentley for my VW GTi A2 16v (clutch job, water pump, suspension, brakes); e30 325i Touring (general maintenance); and my e46 325i Touring (brakes, suspension, general maintenance). The books sell easily when you're done with them. They have a metric sh*t-ton of info in them, excellent wiring diagrams, and put Haynes manuals to shame. If you can't find it locally, Amazon's a good source. HTH
  18. cool! you must let us know which inbuilt beltronics you have, too.
  19. I only just read the bit about blaming the apprentice. "oh, well, that's okay then mate". Not. Does he kick the dog as well? As Nathan says, it's his name above the door, and he's responsible for directing and checking the work of his apprentice. Not worth dealing with. You might consider writing a letter to Mr blame-the-apprentice, detailing your experiences and discussions to date, state you're unhappy with his actions to remedy, ask for your money back. Meanwhile get it done by someone who knows what they're doing... like Glenn! Yes you're paying twice, but you can chalk it up to experience. You can always take Mr blame-the-apprentice to small claims, if you can be bothered spending the time. At least you have the letter if you need material. Brakes no. 1 safety item, get em sorted. HTH
  20. the wooden wheel's a bit gauche; it has an aftermarket stereo (no bad thing)... other than that it looks clean and tidy. It's not an M-sport, the 20th Anniversary is like "all of the luxury options"... You really want a V8, eh.
  21. welcome, Shiman. I'm a big fan of the Z4 coupe, congratulations on your new ride. In terms of finding that wheel or those seats that you want, @BM WORLD is your man. Do update your profile to indicate your location, better for the crew here to help you with advice. Also consider subscribing to the 'meetings' room for your locale. If you're in Auckland, they meet regularly for cars and coffee. Down here in Welly we're meeting more regularly (than we used to), though infrequently. We're also plotting and executing roadies from time to time. Did I mention it before? I dig the Z4 coupe.
  22. Back on topic... Yesterday at 158190kms I had Page European drain my trans and refill with their brand of full synth DexVI (I think they're using Titan, now). Also installed one of my new door seals (acquired from @BM WORLD)... I've been too damned busy to get to that job myself. I asked what the fluid was like that came out of it was like. 'used; brown (not black), not burnt smelling but certainly "used" oil'. Sounds like we're lucky with the timing. When it's black and burnt smelling you've lost friction material from your plates, and it's suspended in your ATF. I've only driven it home, first impression was that it was shifting a little smoother. I'll know better when I've driven it from cold (later this morning). It's the first step in Trans service, in a couple of weeks time it goes back to have: drain drop pan replace mechatronics sleeve seal new pan/filter/magnets/bolts refill with fresh Dex VI. It's gonna take me a couple of weeks to clock up 500kms, I've dropped the big daily commute now
  23. On e46 the auto-dipping Kerr mirror for reverse doesn't work if you've left the adjustment switched to the left mirror. surely you have CD and CD changer??
  24. Yeah, that 540i looks clean and sharp, rather than "off".
