Anyone done this? Mine comes with the basic (UK) cluster although speedo dials have been changed to kmh. You may have previously seen my complaint about my cruise control speed still being in mph though. If it's not exorbitantly expensive i'd consider changing to the below model...

You can check the vin on a decoder eg bimmer.work, the seller should be able to give you the VIN

The sport line and m-sport have the red line on the tacho / speedo. Luxury / Modern / SE don't.

Looks from googling as though it is difficult / impossible without removing / dissasembling the Kombi unit. Mine just has new gauge scales rather than a whole new unit, the 6WB head unit does appeal but not really wanting to pay $2k for a new one.

On a vaguely related note, are you aware if it is possible to code the cruise control to display speed in Kph instead of mph (as my UK import does now) - my speedo has been converted to a kph only version but it’s a small bugbear of mine

Yes I used European Car Imports who were excellent to deal with. Would suggest you get a login for British Car Auctions sure and search for VAT qualifying options

That one linked above is a poverty spec UK version with halogens, the pre-facelifts can be found with xenons which are just as good as LED's. I would suggest you look at importing a UK one, as you'll get a better spec with lower k's for same money. I paid 54k for a well specced 2016 m-sport touring 335d with 15k on it at the beginning of year.

Debadged my 335d this afternoon (used hairdryer / dental floss) - however there is still some extremely tenacious adhesive left behind. What is the best strategy to remove this?

This. I was astounded how much bigger an F31 felt than an E46 touring sitting in them back to back (and to park!)

I have the next best thing (335d touring) but would be even better with alpina kit and no 4wd. because everybody needs a wagon that can do 280kph and 4.6s 0-100 as well as 6L/100k

or a B3 biturbo? (more of the diesel floating round in the UK though). Diesel will be fast and reliable, not so much street cred c.f an M3 but the touring is amazing.

lovely looking (and I'm sure sounding!) car. always amazes me how many convertibles are sold new in the UK, i think they represent the highest proportion of new car sales there c.f. anywhere else in the world.

Have been looking at towbar options for my wagon (no serious towing envisaged, but sometimes useful to be able to hook up a trailer). The OEM BMW option seems the best (PDC integration) and it would certainly be nice to stop it hurting my eyes by folding under the bumper when not required, however paying north of $2.5k for the privilege seems a bit OTT. Has anyone used the NZ Manufacturers ( Lockon etc) or alternatively has experience with the UK towbars (Westfalia / Witter) - suspect their ball is different?

just offering a data point for 'performance' diesel. I've recently acquired an F31 335d touring w/ N57B30 engine - 230kw/630Nm. Open road economy ~6L/100km with overtaking etc. best i've seen is 5.1/100 indicated for auckland-hamilton in free flowing traffic with range of 1050km from a 57L tank. My commute is 24k (welly-porirua) and averages ~7L/100k for this in current conditions. My impression is fuel economy is substantially better in warmer weather - tends to be closer to 8L/100k if cold.

sorry to resuscitate an extremely old thread. does anyone have any objective information on the best diesel for use in performance vehicles in NZ? (waiting for the suggestion to switch to a real performance fuel! ?) NZ diesel certainly seems reasonable in quality (low sulfur, cetane number >50). I've been using BP ultimate diesel in my 335d but have no evidence to back that up with. my gut feeling is to steer clear of biodiesel (i.e Gull) for performance applications...

Just take them off. Standard NZ plates shouldn't need any holes drilled to fit when the jap plate holders are off. If the 335i f31 was more readily available I'm sure I would have gone for that in preference to the diesel.

Class. Just needs the japanese plate holders off.
