  1. This is a good question. Seems to be limited info on whether the change from Jeff Gray to Winger has changed the service at the main dealer (taking mine there for brake fluid / WOF later in the month though). However it seems a little odd that there's no one else doing newer <10 yr old BMW's. Have heard good things from @Olaf and others about Auto 38 and it's conveniently located to me, however seems perhaps better for the >10 year old models.
  2. Only the three most expensive are LCI model.
  3. I like this - probably as much as an F10 M5 and more than a 535D. Seems reasonably priced given the performance and km. I wouldn't get the deco-set stripes or the fussy front lip if I were ordering new though. I wonder where it's come from - RHD but kph speedo and diesel is an unusual combo - Singapore perhaps? https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1945379589
  4. @Young Thrash Driver @Olaf was referring to the E60 generation which has the N62 (actually Alpina H1) in it - the E39 pictured above does have the M62TU.
  5. For those of us who don't mind diesel and / or tourings, they're a godsend (still hoping G81 M3 touring might be a thing)
  6. interesting comparison to the following E60 generation, the E39 M5 IMO is more desirable (especially with manual box) but given the reputation of the V10, i think I'd rather have the supercharged V8 in the E60 B5.
  7. Yeah the microfilter is absurdly expensive ($150 + GST) for a part that costs $20 USD on ebay.
  8. I'm the fool paying dealer prices for my oil change! My first change (last year) was ~$350 from Coombes Johnston. I am intending to keep the car for a while but I like having the electronic service record updated and I haven't found any indies to do that here in Wellington.
  9. very nice. I think I prefer that to the clown shoe.
  10. @sobanoodle yes - we're 10ppm sulfur for diesel and petrol since mid 2017. basically equivalent to Europe. Australia still allowed 150ppm in 91 atm. Also, unless you're tracking your diesel, 5000k oil change interval is way OTT.
  11. or even put an NA S62 in there. would be awesome with a manual gearbox and 400hp
  12. shame. can't be more than a few of these left now. not sure that many ever made it here new.
  13. This looks like a nice low km example - don't see too many 540i tourings around https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1929465959.htm?rsqid=73dac6a0a4f34130b8ad84fc723760cb
  14. Random query - are BMW Alpina vehicles available to order through BMW NZ?
  15. Coming along nicely. Any pics on the Style 24 wheels?
  16. No photos - but an CS 2002 on the Terrace (blue / black colour?) and a white 340i Touring near Parliament.
  17. I like this a lot. The other reason there aren't any here is because the E81 wasn't sold in Japan - only the E87 (of which there are now plenty in NZ, generally poorly specced compared to the Singapore versions).
  18. Nice E30 325i Cabby in Island Bay this evening...
  19. NZ currently legislates 10ppm sulfur for diesel and petrol. Australia has 150ppm for 91 and 50ppm for 95/98, not sure about their diesel. I believe our 98 Octane (not the Gull stuff with ethanol in it) is imported refined from Singapore (which has very exacting specifications.
  20. Guess that's why we get a better range of tourings than AU? they're stuck with 520d/530i in the G31 and nothing bigger than a 330i in the F31.
  21. Don't have firm info but the NZ/AU 40i B58 engines have a lower compression option (S858) c.f. the euro market ones (due to poorer quality fuel - mainly in Australia) - so they may continue to omit it?
  22. 1 series can’t be had with individual colours
  23. Presumably a profit driven approach. Most people don't know / care about which wheels are driven. They can use the same platform as Mini / X1 and minimise their development costs. Agree it produces a watered down drivers car c.f. RWD straigh 6 hatch, but the Golf R certainly gets decent reviews. I would guess they can't shoehorn a straight 6 into transverse layout so it'll be an inline 4 with a big turbo.
