I think the pricing is fair, neither of the kiwi new 3.8 M5’s could be bought for less than $100k now.

E30 chassis restoration in Auckland recommendations
leichtbau replied to leichtbau's topic in Appearance
Would you rate them above German Kollision Jon? Purely from a personal perspective. -
Those RE's are filth! Looks so good with the big yellows reds behind them. Did you change the pistons when you rebuilt the brakes?

As the title states, I'm looking for a panel beater familiar with the idiosyncrasies of the E30 shell to do some restoration work. I'm after rust removal with butt welding and invisible blending rather than simple lap weld repair. The car in all likelihood won't ever be for sale, but there's enough rarity involved that any repairs would need to be of a standard commensurate with the vehicle's worth. Experience with sectioned panels is preferred, as BMW don't supply some areas that will need to be attended to. In a perfect world I'd stroke a cheque and send the shell off to get the same treatment Conrad's M3s' got, but I would prefer to be able to eat more than just rice and beans for a year. Happy to travel from Pukekohe to Orewa, but the closer to the bridge the better.

Red E30 318iS and an E24 on Alpinas at the wof station.

Very nice!! I do love old cars that are still on 2 letter plates.

Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?
leichtbau replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in TradeMe discussions
The biggest f**k up might have been making the series cars coupes and not four doors. -
Five M2’s in the space of 400m on the motorway today, is there a cool kids club for these?
-
It's ex Japan, so probably AK03 spec with the overdrive box instead of the dogleg. This will have a major effect on value going forward (like E30 M3's weren't overpriced enough). Another consideration would be that Max Fletcher is selling it, go into the deal with your eyes open.

I’ve seen that bloke taking pics of various cars down in the Orakei marina before. I’m gonna go with $7840, because it’s the right colour with the right wheels.

BBS Germany though, BBS Japan is where all the fancy forged wheels come from and they're trucking along just fine.

I was playing along at home up until it got above 40K euros! The 4.7 v8 E36/5 hartge in the same auction went fairly cheap did it not?
-
The cast 24's are lighter than the forged 24's. Not by very much, but enough to make a point of it.

That driver's seat has had an absolute thrashing

I just keep an eye on the TM market and see what's for sale - NZTA broke down the registrations as 11 in 2011, 28 in 2012 and 8 in 2013 (and the UK import that's been for sale forever), but I've only ever seen 25 for sale. Implies that people are hanging onto them or they're being traded behind closed doors. It's the same cars that constantly pop up for sale as well. I don't see much value in tracking their pricing - they're a car entirely dependent on condition, modifications, and what side of the bed the seller woke up that morning. I think there's probably another $15-20K to come out of their market value, but in saying that your orange one was a bargain imho! In South Africa they're down around $60K NZD for a driven one and $90K NZD for a sub 5000km example. The pricing in Australia is also roughly similar. UK slightly higher, but that's always been the case when cross shopping due to numerous factors.

Is the blackline E30 fitment?
-
That’s bloody cheap for a 1M, but it’s interesting that of the 47 that came into NZ, barely half of them have ever been openly traded. Implies that there’s two markets - one for collectors and one for people who want to drive them. No bad thing, just an observation.
-
O-ring end fittings and 8 of them are constantly sitting underwater (salt). Yea no drama with the cost overall, the labour and travel to see us was more than reasonable. Wasn’t braid, plastic(?) coated.

$5K +gst bill for some custom hydraulic lines, of which $2800 was for 28 stainless hose ends. I’m in the wrong trade it would seem!

Got a set out of a 318iS in Auckland if you get stuck.
