  1. I was seriously considering putting in my post hah
  2. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3089902382 Not something you see every day! H/K audio and cloth, great spec.
  3. Wise decision by the owner. Might have to get some popcorn ready for 10:30pm tonight.

LED tails next, in case you're running out of ideas to spend money on 😂
  5. TBF Mark Gilbert did have some awesome BMW’s during this era, the family had some cracking BMW’s in addition to whatever range topping car he would have had that week as CEO.
  6. Stroking doesn't really affect idle in any meaningful way. M20's don't get lumpy at idle until at least a 280+ degree cam setup, speaking from experience with my Alpina 272 degree cam and a friends Hartge 280 degree cam in his 2.6. I've attached a decade old potato quality video of my Alpina 2.7 at idle - it's rock solid. You can't really "know" that a stroker has been well executed unless you've first hand knowledge of the build / or can be provided evidence of what was used, there's simply too many ways to skin the cat when stroking an M20. 2.7 is obviously the simplest with either the crank from the eta or the forged crank from the M21 diesel. 2.8 and above uses an M5x series crank but then you've got to have a spacer machined up for the nose (simple enough) but anything larger than 2.8 you're going to have to clearance the gallery for the crank counter weights to spin freely inside the block. The other route to 2.8+ litres is boring the block, but there isn't a heap of meat between the cylinders to start with, as a 2.5 M20 is oversquare to start with with a ratio of 1.12. Some of the larger cranks really throw this ratio out the window, and there's a tonne of people over the years who have been disappointed with their 3.0L M20's. Not nearly enough attention is paid to head flow, as there's no point in going larger displacement if you're not going to address the main M20 weak point which is the combustion chamber shape and how little the ports (particularly the exhaust) in the head flow. For example, at 10" of test pressure the Alpina head flows some 10cfm more than stock at 0.40" valve lift, and almost 20cfm at 0.60" Anyway, could go on for hours, might post some ramblings in the performance section. yt1s.com - E30 325iS Evo 1 at idle_360p.mp4
  7. Yep for the most part stroker M20's run just fine on the stock motronic, they just don't make the power they should. You really need a custom map to get the most benefit from each individual application.
  8. Counterpoint, do what Milan did with the last caged m325i for sale...
  9. Was a pair of blue leather fronts for $1200 on TM, think Auto38 might have snagged them? Edit: sold https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/interior/listing/3076358316?archive=1&bof=QysGm7wV
  10. Can confirm, my Standard 2 books are still looking mint, some 28 years later.
  11. Another mt1 out of the woodwork... https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/specialist-cars/competition-cars/listing/3091182680
  12. @M3AN did you ever mock up those M cloth centres with the white leather? Would have looked porn.

What size are the wheels? Interior swap or retrim?
  15. Someone really knew what they were doing when they specced that through Individual! 👏
  16. @Ghost Chip @Olaf the motor in question is now a 2.8 is it not? The first question that should be asked is what management its running.
  17. Yep smileys fitted at a later date, it's a very simple mod and a huge improvement over the prefacelift sealed beams.
  18. 100 total might be a good ball park figure if you factor attrition in, there's 60+ definitely still on the road, probably not too far from the truth! open source Mt1 data; of the cars not written off: 4 Polaris '86 cars as I've detailed previously (which didn't have the 333 option mtechnic package - just the relevant options individually) 9 085xxxx chassis number cars 5 286xxxx chassis number cars There's also at least 6 UK 325i Sport's here as well, all of which are 085xxxx cars - the crucial difference between them and the kiwi new cars is that they got the 206 option 260/5 close ratio gearbox with 3rd and 4th being different ratios to the standard 260. There's now more E30 M3's in NZ than there are mt1's. The early mt2 cars were also 286xxxx chassis numbers before they shifted to 358xxxx and AE5xxxx. South Africa and Australia didn't get the mt1 as an mtechnic car, and neither did Japan - it was really a New Zealand / Great Britain only car, so 298 RHD mt1 cars might not be too far from the truth. The UK has howmanyleft which lists models still registered or SORNed, but is susceptible to the foibles of how the registration data is entered, but some ballpark figures can be inferred from the below link https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/bmw_325_i_sport
  19. Jeez those goal posts were moved so fast I'm starting to suspect you handled Eden Park's transformation for the Six60 gig.
  20. I get that you're lampooning me, but seeing as the 130i/6 was literally the last atmo inline 6 with a manual gearbox that bmw produced, I don't think I'm wrong in saying that kiwi new versions of the format will be highly prized in future.
  21. I raised the NZ new point because there were only so many kiwi new manual 130i's (17? Ask Jacko), so it stands to reason that they're going to follow the stratospheric rise of similar cars as they age - may as well get in early. Bimmersport members in 2040 will be shitting themselves that they didn't pick up this bargain before they were worth 64K 😂
  22. You've got the wrong attitude when it comes to the stuff comments section. Roleplaying a former Gloriavale church member in the comments section got me through a deskjob 2009-2013.
