  1. Celebrated the summer weather and Auckland water restrictions being relaxed and gave the gar its first two bucket wash in 6 months. Was so nice outside, decided to slap on a coat of CarPro Elixer while I was at it - so nice holding a hose again haha
  2. @Matth5 criminal how many 911s got specced with tiptronics... problem with being a status symbol and sports car at same time I guess.
  3. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/honda/listing/2879320476?archive=1&bof=dcCFgJNn Saw this 1988 CRX sell for $12500 - had one exactly like it 20 years ago was my first 'quick' car. Thrashed the tits off it for 3 years, bounced it off the 180kmh limiter and don't remember doing any maintenance at all 😐
  4. The highest price I've seen and while it looks nice, it isn't a particularly desirable colour - I think a black one (converted) went for $13k very quickly a few months back.
  5. Up go the E46 asking prices https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2900631865?bof=07dNfaDi Wonder what I could list mine for 🧐

    E46 330ci Manual

Yeah would be a good idea, not sure where it would be printed? While I enjoy a bit of diy, dropping exhaust and driveshaft on jack stands is a little beyond my comfort level 😬
  7. If you're not on there already, E30 Owners New Zealand Car Club on FB is pretty active and not a bad place to put feelers out. I'm possibly going to be in the market for a manual 2 door 325i sometime next year - will take a few $$$ and rust is number one as I'm sure you're aware
  8. Thanks - I had not considered the flywheel to be honest - I do get a clunk 'by my feet' when I depress the clutch quickly at low speed? I did have a gearbox specialist in Auckland do a test drive and hoist check earlier in the year for a whine / chatter I get accelerating in 2nd / 3rd gear (audible only WOT above 3k with windows up) - they seemed to think it was most likely 'gear chatter' coming through from likely a single mass flywheel - they did not seem concerned about it so I stopped worrying.
  9. @nick496 yup was an auto. I imagine a manual driveshaft would be tricky to find and probably similar cost / install wise? sounds like custom hoops are the way to go.
  10. The guibo / Flex disk / donut at front of driveshaft by gearbox? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-drive-shaft-flex-joint-giubo-meylehd-3141523102hd Not sure on flywheel - conversion was done before my ownership - possibly a single mass but no real idea TBH
  11. Thanks - So could be a lot of things! Occasionally do get some vibration at idle on cold start (only every now and then) so might start with engine and tranny mounts and go from there, perhaps a new flex disk at same time 👍 I did have the RTABs checked and were fine but shop mentioned a small crack in the diff bush which could be a factor too.

    E46 330ci Manual

Cheers - yeah, was just chatting to Josh about his - I was thinking more OEM+ (E60 545i shifter) but will see

    E61 Wagon Project

Damnit, now I can't post this meme anymore 🤣

    E61 Wagon Project

Huh, never realised they were an M car thing - have dual slat black grilles but with stock chrome kidneys. I thought it was just a later model thing?
  15. So, went for my cert today for the Coilovers and Manual Swap and failed... Appears the driveshaft in it is not the factory 330ci manual one and as it appeared likely modified to fit (not sure how they could tell as doubt they pulled the heat shields etc off) and had a washer welded on to it (for balancing?) apparently I will need two driveshaft hoops. I did buy the car already swapped so I don't really know too much about the driveline except for what's stamped on the Gearbox (ZF 1053401131)and Diff (3.38 auto diff). Cert guy did mentioned it appeared all well done but the law is the law... I'm guessing the exhaust and driveshaft will need to be removed to fit these? Have messaged NZ Speedshop about some for an E46 but I can't see any real web presence from them for some time?

Bit of a nasty surprise as I understood those were only necessary for power increases / engine swaps etc. Anyways, unless I can somehow show it is the correct factory shaft I've got some more time and money to spend 👌 Would be a good time to do a shifter rebuild / short shifter and tranny mounts I suppose.
  17. Not sure what your plans for the car are, but Eurosurgeon was just advertising them pulling 50+ percent power and torque on totally stock F20 116i.'s...
  18. Hey, I've got no problem with VAG 😎 My GTI was perfect

    Quick rant thread.

Ugh, had same thing replacing my fuel filter - had to leave it, go out and buy new line and just cut it off. Is that possible? Not familiar with the intricacies of the fuel pump line - is the other end of the line inaccessible (if you replaced just it that whole line)

    Sorry couldn’t help it
  21. Very cool and 105hp - not bad! I think these 80s jap hatches in good nick have a bit of an upside here in NZ - especially in a rare spec like this. Would have been first cars for so many 40 something kiwis...
  22. What is most likely to be a cause of general driveline lash / slack / slop / looseness in a BMW with 150km on it (E46)? Nothing bad or clunky, but I just want to really tighten things up a bit if possible - at the moment (hard to describe) I can feel a little delay / looseness upon decisive shifting or when accelerating hard. Worn bushings or potentially just the nature of the car? Transmission and / or engine mounts? Guibo? Diff bushings?
  23. Pffft - thats what the 'R' on the gear stick is for
