  1. A local shop changing an OEM screen will cost plenty and leave you with 2007 tech. A new android unit will be much cheaper, have a better screen, be much faster and have the ability to run 2021 Android Auto / Apple Carplay with an OEM look.
  2. Fireball have some good products offering more satin finishes: https://www.unitedcarcare.co.nz/products/fireball-tyre-coating https://www.unitedcarcare.co.nz/products/fireball-trim-tyre Si02 which I guess is a fancy way of saying silicone, but the results are good. I've got a container of Meguiars Endurance Gel at the moment which is decent, smells good too - with hand application it needn't be too glossy either - at SCA / Repco and often on special.
  3. Stu, was this at Hampton downs on Sunday?
  4. Sell your Bitcoin and buy E30s https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2946929933?bof=mR1FVzUq
  5. Was this at the BMW Festival Show and Shine yesterday?
  6. I've not used them, but understand you can now get more full featured Bluetooth plugs which do airbags etc as well - makes more sense to me to outsource the screen function to my fancy phone than a $100 LCD...
  7. Yup, my mate has one of these as well - used it to do suspension before I bought my own - grunty as and good buying when on 'special'. @kiwi75 I would grab one of those for $240 TBH
  8. @M3AN maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but it’s not too onerous at all, I’ll time myself on Sunday 🤣
  9. Does it need high pressure? I've tried wheel cleaners (the ones that turn purple) on mine and find while they do help, can't beat 1 minute a wheel and a microfibre towel.
  10. @GorGasm Very nice! Is the Meguiars Ceramic Wax the blue spray stuff? (can be sprayed and rinsed or rubbed in) Have a bottle I got on special at SCA that I have not got around to applying yet - reviews seemed good.
  11. I'm not a jack expert, but after my crappy '1.5 ton' (LOL) jack from supercheap couldn't lift my E46 high enough to get jackstands underneath before sagging out, I got one of these from an outfit on the North Shore: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/tools-repair-kits/other/listing/2937002980?bof=SkHPhXfD Had no issues with it - built like a tank (well over 40kg), lifts my car with minimal pumps like its a feather and has a nice slow release.

    Quick rant thread.

Hahahaha - was driving down Ponsonby road a few weeks back and kept hearing this cracking like thunder a few blocks back, thought it was scaffolding collapsing or something, eventually clicked it was a car - expected to see some riced up AMG but it was a little 100% stock Silver MK6 GTI. Absolute pratt haha
  13. And another, albeit appears to be an exceptional example, just listed at $78K.
  14. Snapped this beautiful Black 635csi in Birkenhead this morning while having breakfast. Plate was ‘SIXBMW’ and looked mint, tastefully lowered on BBS 👌
  15. That beautiful bumper deserves a shiny new Euro Plate now 😎
  16. Wicked car, not sure why you would paint on the checkerboard?
  17. FCP still delivering inside 7 days every time for me. I believe that is due to Fed Ex having an NZ branch - its in their network the whole way - no third parties, especially NZ Post.
  18. If you're not changing the colour, a colour refresh (what I did but way less faffing about) would be pretty easy to DIY...
  19. @Allanw Love it! Even has a bench on top
  20. @sobanoodle a few hours and a custom leather cover will have that wheel looking better than new. Or get a wrecked one like Dave suggests - preferably one of the updated ones.
  21. You can smoke in anything (the Weber Kettles can work well too) but having a little more volume and being well sealed is the main thing (aside from technique and knowing your smoker of course). I've not used them, but you can also get little fans which adapt to an air inlet linked to a thermometer couple so it will control your temp for you by blowing to increase temp whenever it drops below your set point and stopping when it exceeds a set point - good if you want to do an overnight cook or don't want to babysit the fire. I have a very low tech drum but have a fantastic dual (meat and air) probe thermometer with a separate RF receiver which tracks current and high/low temps and find once I get it in its zone I can go to the beach during a cook, come back 3 hours later and temp has only fluctuated 10c. Have not heard of smoking as low as 65c? 105c is generally as low as I go, and keep 6 hour plus cooks in the 105-120c range. My wife doesn't allow thermometer talk anymore haha (I brew as well so I'm always going on about temperature 🤣)
  22. I imagine a shop would charge you minimum $2K - its a huge amount of work. This job was more involved than mine and obviously more thorough, but gives you an idea - now imagine the shop labour...
  23. I have a 200litre drum smoker I built - does an amazing job, incredibly stable temps and just as comfortable with chicken as brisket / short rib etc. But looks like a POS 🤣 We are moving in the next few months though and might retire it and get a Kamado style one.
  24. Charcoal is far more reliable
