    E46 330ci Manual

So, went for my cert today for the Coilovers and Manual Swap and failed... Appears the driveshaft in it is not the factory 330ci manual one and as it appeared likely modified to fit (not sure how they could tell as doubt they pulled the heat shields etc off) and had a washer welded on to it (for balancing?) apparently I will need two driveshaft hoops. I did buy the car already swapped so I don't really know too much about the driveline except for what's stamped on the Gearbox (ZF 1053401131and Diff (3.38 auto diff). Cert guy did mentioned it appeared all well done but the law is the law... As an aside the gear selector rod has been lengthened, not sure why that would be. Bit of a nasty surprise as I understood those were only necessary for power increases / engine swaps etc. Anyways, unless I can somehow show it is the correct factory shaft I've got some more time and money to spend 👌 Would be a good time to do a shifter rebuild / short shifter and tranny mounts I suppose.
  2. Not sure what your plans for the car are, but Eurosurgeon was just advertising them pulling 50+ percent power and torque on totally stock F20 116i.'s...
  3. Hey, I've got no problem with VAG 😎 My GTI was perfect

    Quick rant thread.

Ugh, had same thing replacing my fuel filter - had to leave it, go out and buy new line and just cut it off. Is that possible? Not familiar with the intricacies of the fuel pump line - is the other end of the line inaccessible (if you replaced just it that whole line)

    F40 *Fleet* 0_0

    Sorry couldn’t help it
  6. Very cool and 105hp - not bad! I think these 80s jap hatches in good nick have a bit of an upside here in NZ - especially in a rare spec like this. Would have been first cars for so many 40 something kiwis...
  7. What is most likely to be a cause of general driveline lash / slack / slop / looseness in a BMW with 150km on it (E46)? Nothing bad or clunky, but I just want to really tighten things up a bit if possible - at the moment (hard to describe) I can feel a little delay / looseness upon decisive shifting or when accelerating hard. Worn bushings or potentially just the nature of the car? Transmission and / or engine mounts? Guibo? Diff bushings?
  8. Pffft - thats what the 'R' on the gear stick is for
  9. Listed at $8200 I think - can assume it sold for that or extremely close so fast.

    Finally...

Looks good and won't take much to make it even better!
  11. No pics, but just as I was feeling good about my freshly washed E46 , keeping the E30 lust at bay, I saw who I’m pretty sure was @hybrid race by in a stunning silver tech 1 👌🏼 Sunday in Birkenhead.
  12. Seems ridiculous to do that to such an example, at least it became a matchbox toy and was auctioned for charity I guess? Those EAG cars though.... incredible.

    MCM E30

Just caught up on this series - pretty sweet car. An E30 with 700nm must be.... challenging on the street to say the least. Not keen on the black out and tints look on a classic chassis but I guess look was likely heavily driven by the sponsor....
  15. No - accident was simply lower bumper catching on curb while parking at 0.5 kmph. Trans leak is some apparently common gasket around mechatronic? Anyway, its being sorted but yeah... what a great start.
  16. Hey man, I'm just cruising around in the E46 with the windows down smelling the roses 🤣

  18. Hell, no need to hang onto it for a decade, I'll give you a grand for it right now!

    Quick rant thread.

Minor gripe, but the pains of being anal about ones automobile... Been getting quotes to colour match my boot and mirrors (panels are a slightly different colour) and all quotes are about 50% more than I expected (hoped). Then I just noticed this morning (no idea how I didn't realise before?) that my drivers side quarter window has a light tint (rest the of windows are clear as God intended) so gotta source a clear one as well now... So yeah - first world problems haha
  20. This, and I think buying an old manual euro car is already a somewhat of an emotive purchase, so it makes sense presentation and colour can easily command a premium...
  21. Will raise that again pending this diagnosis, but it really depends how hard would have to fight to return it - not keen to drag it through small claims court I mean...
  22. Hopefully not but have definitely being eyeing up Black BMW coupes recently...
  23. Yeah.... odd indeed. It was 100% leaking a LOT of oil beforehand ( I had to top up a litre and it was barely driven) so seems very odd this other leaking issue has now popped up out of the blue and that they offered to cover excess. Positive is its only costing us time and braincells so far...
  24. Another fun update on this sh*t-show: Dealer advised (after having the car another 8 days with almost no progress) that the car is now dumping transmission fluid and the transmission has to come out... He's asked us to file a claim under our MBI as its a new fault but they will cover the excess, which sounded dodgy to me, so I had a pretty frank and honest discussion with the MBI provider who was happy to raise the claim... So its now going to a transmission shop. We do have an F10 535i loaner in the meantime, but its huge and a real boat to be honest. Suffice to say, the Honeymoon period with the Audi was very brief indeed - only positive is we are getting some major service items out of the way 😐
