Are their lungs going to be up to the task though ?

Haha - I'm getting a bit anal now but these have faces that are a bit chrome and want similar style but with silver / brushed faces and polished lips. Or, in my dreams - some ACS Type 2/3 racing. Have had my eye on these (reps) but don't think they are in stock.

Have to say, after a week with the Supersprint on, I'm very happy - I think its just about perfect for the OEM+ thing I'm going for with the car. I swear its a little more vocal than when first put on. Great cruising rumble and manly sounding cold starts, no drone, nice 'smooth' burbles on deceleration and when rev matching for downshifts and sounds good with the induction roar when I boot it. Makes the rear look a little tougher too. To do list for rest of year: Oil / Filter and Oil level sensor - switching from Edge 5w30 to HPR5 5w40 Smoke test Remap Coilovers and good alignment Different Wheels Boot respray (its a slightly darker colour which isn't obvious but bothers me)

@zero nice, going to try this next weekend and saw this nice kiwi approach! Don't think I have an vacuum leak but might as well see

Not sure to be honest - older BMWs values are hard to pin down - usually comes down to how much the buyer wants it. On one hand it's a late model facelift with low km and good service history. On the other hand it's not a sport model and the 2.5 is the less desirable motor (still reliable and sounds good though) and the interior won't be for everyone. Up to you and your budget - don't see it being worth more than $8k though - if it sells there are quite a few nice looking E46 convertibles about, and will be more coming toward summer.
-
Main difference with Facelift is the updated front and rear headlights. If you like the look and don't mind the smaller engine, it looks like a well maintained example, late model, (for an E46) with low kms - I would offer him $7-7500 and see how you go? As it hasn't hit reserve the auction isn't 'live' yet?

Value depends on colour / interior / condition and if Msport or not. Mileage less important than condition and maintenance. I'm guessing its the black 2005 facelift on TM though? EDIT - if it is, that car appears to have most common failure points already sorted and if you don't mind the facelift look or interior colour looks to be a well looked after car. They are good cars, reliable by BMW standards and the convertibles are supposedly less prone to the achilles heel subframe issues. Budget to get the cooling system refreshed if there isn't evidence of it being done preventatively - common failure points are waterpumps / expansion tanks and overheating has disastrous results. Otherwise minor oil leaks are pretty common but not hard to fix. My advice however is to get a 330ci. Quite a bit more power (which you will want in a heavy, auto convertible) and won't really be any worse on fuel. Some decent looking ones available in AKL now as well. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2802642639?bof=K9OuyeuO https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2802642893?bof=bxTkPxEh

Thanks - car dealer is already sorting an initial issue with passenger door not remote unlocking and passenger mirror not adjusting... Do have a 3 year warranty as well so fingers crossed.

Haha, just came here to post about this 318is. Looks SO good. In the context of recent asking prices, not too bad given rarity, desirability and condition IMO -

For some reason I was expecting a Dakar Yellow E36

@EthanJ FYI - wouldn't recommend Takapuna mufflers TBH. My Supersprint is on and sounds good and looks good but once I left my car (and they wouldn't commit to a price up front), shock horror, I got given a million different reasons as to why it didn't fit correctly, how tricky a job it was (was designed for E46 330i) and the extra time they had to spend and ended up getting my pants pulled down on it a bit. Lesson learnt - get a quote before leaving a car with someone / if it looks like a Cowboy, it probably is a Cowboy. Also, what kind of business does not have eftpos in 2020? I suspect one with a healthy disregard for the IRD

@Bandit The ST XA Coilovers are already ordered from Germany ? Kind of want a *little* more from the exhaust but think I'll just quit while i'm ahead as don't want to risk ruining the tone / creating drone etc ?
-
@qube E92 looks stunning!

They could have, although the bumper brackets are moulded into the bumper itself and tore straight off (i.e were weaker than the clips) so would need to be plastic welded and wouldn't sit right. If I knew it was going to take this long I would definitely have got them to do a temporary fix in the meantime...

After sitting in my basement for 2 months, got my Supersprint backbox installed yesterday. Looks great, sounds good, a subtle volume upgrade TBH (compared to stock plus golf tee mod) but feels like it has less drone / boominess and a nicer tone and very subtle burble on deceleration. My intake is pretty loud but now feels reasonably balanced between induction / exhaust now. Will drive it a week or so and see how I feel and whether or not I go ahead and delete the secondary cats or resonator for a little more volume / scream up top.

What's a proper shoe worth? $55k? Aside from the body shape, it's an auto M52, LHD surely not near $35k even if it was all registered?

I saw that one on the FB group, madness! -
Still have her old Mazda Axela and did pick my own panel beater, just surprised at the time for what seemed like such a minor mishap (I've done it myself on my E46 and was able to DIY)
-
So this little kerb vs bumper mishap means car is going to be off the road until 16th October... basically a month after only having the car a week, thanks to Tower taking their time and panel beaters being flat out. I really hope a lesson has been learned!
