  1. Agreed. I'm excited. It's a Soarer video tape from Japan. Absolute gold for an enthusiast like me, extremely hard to find. Once it arrives I eventually upload the material to youtube for my other Soarer associates to watch - yes copyright issues but this is so niche market no one would care.
  2. There is always going to be a better engine choice. Heck I'd love an LF-A V10 engine, but its not going to happen! Plenty of cheap good engines from the 90s to use, and because they're cheap at least it's achievable I say go for a M73 V12 5.4 It will be unique in a 3 series and go beautifully with over 320hp / 490nm. Mount it far back as possible and you'll have a great setup. To keep costs down the stock 5 speed auto will do the trick nicely too.
  3. Finding treasures like this!
  4. BUT........ 180kph speedos are better because the needle moves faster on the smaller sacle range so you feel like you're going quicker! Of course I loose this feature with my digital number style dash
  5. HA! Are you going to help him with the cost? An old M7X engine is one thing to use... the S85 V10 is on another cost level & some.... Once again another of your irrational suggestions.
  6. Actually. Please do this so you can buy my Aston Martin muffler that will sound good with a V12 exhaust note. Here it was fitted to my E36. Just delete the rear tyre well and bingo!
  7. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperCat/BE36/BMW_BE36_BDYBMP_pg1.htm# $37 USD
  8. The fact the advert doesn't state clearly the history of the car makes it seem suspect. Especially when you can quickly realise that with a simple plate search. Besides, 124k kms in 2003, dropped down to 51k kms with the M5s dash cluster... this makes the chassis a 215-220k kms car. If I was buying an M5 I'd never bother with such a sample, get a genuine article and it will make your life all the more simple down the road.
  9. Hey lads, A friend of mine has a beautiful R32 GTR for sale at the moment. Genuine low kms, and all completely original, it's an impressive example. Looking at $35,000, but is open to offers. PM me if you have any questions or interest. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/nissan/auction-903796324.htm He's bought an M3 V8 so it really needs to go as storage space is at a premium.
  10. Nice car Lee it's looking very sharp! We met briefly towards the end of the meet today.
  11. What of the weight increase vs Iron / Alloy M5X?
  12. Yeah it's quite a ambiguous statement they have made.
  13. Bimmersport. Where new lows are reached daily.
  14. I remember about 7 or 8 years ago Penrite was really hard to find. Repco didn't have it, Supercheap didn't have it, just some obscure small parts stores. Then slowly but surely it's caught onto the mainstream market sellers.
  15. Too true Ray... too true.
  16. Jolly good stuff. This will take shape nicely once the metal work begins! ETA of completion?
  17. It's the Herald... nonsense written by a bunch of inexperienced, detached & starry eyed pen pushers!
  18. Please tell us more Nick, you sound like an oil guru.
  19. Looks very cool. They don't suit high suspension!
  20. I've only bought Penrite stuff since first motoring back in 2005. No issues with their stuff in 10 years. Aussie gurus I knew always recommended the stuff and it comes across like an honest product without the BS.
  21. HPR5 seems to be a pretty well balanced. They call it a 5W-40 extra ten, so a 5W-30 replacement... whatever that means. I'm no expert. My Toyotas are 5w-30 from factory and I've always used HPR5 with 5,000rpm intervals
  22. I emailed them about the same issues. My 1991 Soarer Limited Z30 is lumped in with the out going 1991 Z20 Soarer from the 1980s. Completely different cars. This means it's in the more expensive category because they identified the change over year as 1992. Wrong. Meanwhile my 1996 Soarer Z30 is cheaper because it's simply newer. Yet unlike my 1991 Z30, it has no TRC, no ABS, no Airbags. Go figure
  23. Can't help but think these engines will last a fraction as long as early 90s Japanese turbo engines though. Less stressed, lower boosted, vs highly stressed engines with more cost saving measures in places / environmental considerations.
  24. Saw my old 340i E36, still goes well. But a bit dirty etc Had a chat with the owner and looked under the hood, seems all my conversion aspects looked to be in good working order all these years later.
