  1. Such work is a must on anything thats 15 years old + let alone 25! A lot of certain people forget this is the kinda work you need to do on such older modern cars. Its not all fun 'n games simply spending ones cash on rims and exhausts Keep up the good work.
  2. Heh good work. I've replaced nearly 250 capacitors in my soarer last month. They are the cause of most electrical issues!
  3. Replaced brake pads Reset brake pad warning light Reset service indicator lights Picked up a rear hub from Brent.
  4. Great looking E36. A nice find!
  5. Almost too easy by the sounds of things. Once again well done.
  6. What kind of turning radius/diameters do these cars have? I gather the long the wheel base the bigger the turning circle size. Mines down at 4.9m Radius / 9.8m turning circle.
  7. I like these technical displays. Very interesting.
  8. Hehe. The LS400 is out their on its own though. I like a lot of it, but they are exceptionally boring. I have great respect for them engineering wise, all the history back in 1989 and beyond. I wouldn't bother buying an early one though, been there and done that. The 1999 models are much better, but to be honest Lexus/Toyota have far more interesting offers in the 2008+ era that are tumbling in price. IS-F, LS460s, GS460s, IS350s, The latest Toyota Crown Athletes and others. Mmmmm While in a similar class the E38 is so vastly different, aesthetically there no doubt its a more handsome car, in fact I think its one of the most handsome 4 door cars of its type, to date! I know I like a car deep down when I can't help but stare at one each time I see a good clean example parked or driving by. Given that they are dirt cheap it wouldnt be surprised if I cave in an buy one to replace my fairly iffy daily 3L red Soarer.
  9. I think this is an acquired skill more than something you can just learn unless sitting along side a professional daily for a while. Having a sound knowledge of electronics, the basics like wiring and sensors to understanding the duty cycle of solenoids etc would be a very helpful starting point if you wanted to get into vehicle tuning.
  10. You make me want to buy an E38 some day.
  11. Wow! That engine is a masterpiece. Very impressive.
  12. Cool M50B25 supercharger setups like this twin screw kit, gotta love the positive displacement units. Torque, power and aesthetics all in one. 190rwkw!
  13. Haha. True. I missed that! But a $500+ manifold is just part of it. I mean you'd know what is possible for what costs given your profession etc However I can't help but think of the following costs Manifold $500.... Then the rest: Custom dump pipe / flange to stock exhaust $200+ Injector upgrade $200+ (or leave as standard?) Fuel regulator / pump? $200-400+ Turbocharger itself $500-$1500+ Oil lines, cooling lines, fittings and modifications to the sump $200++ DME upgrade or flash/dyno $750++ (Although Ive heard some tuning places wont do such on turbo BMWs due to the risk?) Driveshaft hoops ~$100 Certification $450-500 So already off the top of my head it seems you'd need at least $3000 to even get close to have the basics done to get a working setup. I've seen most early TT 1JZs selling for $2000, kept auto which suits the engine characteristics & saves a bunch there. Provided one could do most of the work on their own and had an engineering friend to do any welding... Auto shift kit $400 Custom driveshaft $500 Custom mounts front / rear $500 Brakes $400 (330i fronts?) Custom exhaust from stock dump pipe to factory exhaust $200 Wiring costs $100 Certification $500 Driveshaft hoops $100 Fuel pump relay $50, RPM tach signal $0, factory igniter feed should work with 6 cyl dash. Then theres the basics to worry about like intercoolers and piping, not overly expensive if you used quality used parts. $4750+ Not anything like a 10k setup if you do it economically.
  14. I like the interior seat colour its quite unique. Would be worth investing in the face lift grille / bonnet though. Those early ones are, interesting.
  15. Well it just seems more logical. Use a good chassis then add in a proven & reliable turbo engine with plenty of potential. Far more potential than the overrated M60/M62 engines, if you got to that difficulty an S62 is the better option. That said, sure you could get those gains easily enough with an M50B25 + turbo like Steve said. I just wouldn't go that route. The all BMW route is good, if using M engines in M chassis. Otherwise the rest aren't anything special, people get too caught up with the brand issues. It's all about making a fun car while spending wisely.
  16. Id just slip a 1JZGTE in, easier, straight up and down motor, basic mounts need to be made up front, rear mount is easy. Custom drive shaft. Join some wires up, exhaust, intake/intercooler, maybe upgrade the brakes, throw a couple of driveshaft hoops in and get a cert. Super reliable 300hp/400nm 325i then

    The new CSL

Some people at BMWs design department need to get the sack.
  18. Is this poor car a victim of txting while driving??
  19. Interesting, are they de tuned? Seems carjam says this is an NZ new model.

    1991 E31 850i

Those Lotus Evoras are nice. Run a Toyota 3.5 V6 NA or Supercharged. Such a great engine for that kinda car. Same motor in the Lexus IS350, Camry 3.5 V6 etc.

    1991 E31 850i

I hope you left the traction control on with such unpredictable weather today haha!
  22. Look an E39 528i for a short spin, nothing special but I was pleasantly surprised. Lovely car to drive!
