  1. Make sure you get the paint from an approved reseller in case it doesn't meet your expectations.
  2. That's fine, but that could be true of any car, it's called doing your due diligence or checks before buying. if you checked the car and didn't identify those faults, I doubt you'd get far with a dealer bringing it back either. With less than 1000kms on it, I wouldn't expect any faults.
  3. So a BMW international warranty is worthless? Because there are lots of things it doesn't cover? If a car is under warranty, why would you have first recourse with an issue to the seller? Are you saying I buy a NZ new BMW and then decide to sell it whilst still under warranty, the new owners recourse is through me for any issues arising with the car that should be covered under warranty anyway? I don't think so.
  4. Apart from the 2 year international warranty?
  5. 4th Gen 4aGE was quoted at 160hp from 1587cc in '91. '91 B16A Vtec, 125kw/166hp from 1.6 also.
  6. President of the BMWCC told me E30 cabs were top 5 collectible according to BMW History or whatever they call themselves. Was a few years ago though.
  7. 830nm The AMG S65 had 1000nm.
  8. Try some lubricant around the handle/door lock etc. Mine used to jam up every 6 months or so, this fixed it.
  9. You never disappoint me. How is a range from 116-210 price banding? And surely biggest bang for buck is just another expression for best value?

  12. Have a decent read indeed Ron. It was just under 2 tenth of a second slower, half of which was made up by full tank vs half tank. How you'd lap a car on a 1.23 lap within 15 laps on a 1/10th of a second advantage is beyond my maths. More tech doesn't automatically equal better, esp when you factor in price and servicing.
  13. Thanks, I'll try explaining it to dad and see how he goes. I think it's constant draw to drain the battery the way it is. Maybe a faulty aerial too?
  14. First battery was old, second one wasn't. Same sparky that said battery was dead couldn't identify any drain. I know I'm chasing rainbows over the net, but I'm sure it has to be something simple and most likely something related to the aerial, too much coincidence otherwise. Cheers.
  15. My dad has my old M325i, about 18 months ago, it drained the battery and killed it. New battery installed, started going south also, when I was there (it's in Wellington) in January, it would struggle to start the day after being driven, unless it had been for a long drive, in which case it would last 2 days. Now that has been pronounced dead after 15 months. It has never had an issue with this in the previous 9 years we owned it and only two things have changed since he's had it. Rust in roof was repaired and check control panel/lights were disconnected. A new electric aerial was fitted. This coincides with the start of the drain, but a sparky yesterday declared no drain. When the new battery was installed a continuous ticking sound was heard, which dad thought was the cd stacker, but I'm thinking the aerial? There is a slim grey box under the parcel shelf with a cable held in by a knurled steel knob, aerial connection and booster?? When this was undone, the ticking stopped. Am I on the right track, or does someone have another bright idea? Cheers.

  18. Were you at Mitre 10 Wairau yesterday?
  19. Watch the clearance on the brakes.

    Quick rant thread.

Unless you commonly exit the motorway by performing a 180 degree handbrake turn into oncoming traffic or vaulting a 1m high concrete barrier, this on ramp would be near impossible to join the wrong way.

Where is easy. The city bound on ramp at Waterview. Two lanes, was going around a van and once clear of it found a silver Rav4 coming straight at me. Hit brakes/horn/flashed lights, couldn't stop, she went on the grass around me. 30-40m further on was armco where she swerved and we would have just hit. How? Who knows? Even the 7 year old said, "How did she even get there?" If you see a silver Rav4 driven by a blond woman in her 50s, rego starting with BDS, I suggest you give her a wide berth. Or a smack between the eyes.
