Of course it's extreme. But I think a 2-300% mark up on the retail price of an item overseas is extreme too and that's commonplace.

So you'd be comfortable with a key at say, $7,500+ GST?

I think your weights are a bit off Allan, I'm sure the manual said our e30 was 1190? And an EA Falcon around 1500, I think a Commodore was lighter though. Here's an interesting link, shows cars as they actually perform, E34 gets 4 stars, 850 gets 3, EA gets 2. https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/baby-used-cars-fare-poorly-in-safety-ratings-20623

You're comparing a compact hatch with a 5 series?
-
Merc. All day. 8 series is interesting looking, but motor is dull and barely better than the BMW V8.

If you are 6'6, nobody will be sitting behind you and I would think you'd find it tight for yourself. Try a Mazda SP25 if room is a criteria. The 1 series are nice to drive, but not if you don't fit.

A more apt name might be Little Odessa.

Make sure you get the paint from an approved reseller in case it doesn't meet your expectations.

That's fine, but that could be true of any car, it's called doing your due diligence or checks before buying. if you checked the car and didn't identify those faults, I doubt you'd get far with a dealer bringing it back either. With less than 1000kms on it, I wouldn't expect any faults.

So a BMW international warranty is worthless? Because there are lots of things it doesn't cover? If a car is under warranty, why would you have first recourse with an issue to the seller? Are you saying I buy a NZ new BMW and then decide to sell it whilst still under warranty, the new owners recourse is through me for any issues arising with the car that should be covered under warranty anyway? I don't think so.

Apart from the 2 year international warranty?

President of the BMWCC told me E30 cabs were top 5 collectible according to BMW History or whatever they call themselves. Was a few years ago though.

Try some lubricant around the handle/door lock etc. Mine used to jam up every 6 months or so, this fixed it.

19 inch tyres cost a lot more than 17's and 18's

You never disappoint me. How is a range from 116-210 price banding? And surely biggest bang for buck is just another expression for best value? -

No airbag?

Have a decent read indeed Ron. It was just under 2 tenth of a second slower, half of which was made up by full tank vs half tank. How you'd lap a car on a 1.23 lap within 15 laps on a 1/10th of a second advantage is beyond my maths. More tech doesn't automatically equal better, esp when you factor in price and servicing.

Thanks, I'll try explaining it to dad and see how he goes. I think it's constant draw to drain the battery the way it is. Maybe a faulty aerial too?
