recomendations for e36 m3 3L front shocks
E30-323ti replied to BM WORLD's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
If you are feeling handy, you can convert your blown struts to take inserts. Plenty of "how to's" on the interweb. If you are keeping it, it may be worth while, as you can get a better insert shock for the same $$ as a replacement strut... food for thought. -
Looks tits!! I wish you had taken a plug off that front end, makes me envious every time I see it. Talk to crunchy, he'll have a turbo solution for you. Something like one of his HRC40's would go well on a high-comp 2.8l. You'll prob' want to run it on some E85 too to good measure. Just be wary, high HP turbo E30's are particularly anti-social I have found
-
Only 'cause you want to hear it rev like an S85 8000cc at +8000rpm would sound pretty sweet, even if it only has 2valves/cyl and pushrods.
-
The cam timing isn't out of whack is it? Don't the M42's have slotted cam gears from factory? Oh, and where is the sound clip!! OR BAN!!!
-
Looking good, and glad to see you rectifying all those 'tasteful' mods by the P.O.

I tried to pull together a group buy years ago for the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 in a 17x9 et22, But got no love. Old Thread Still one of the nicer wheels around IMO

DTM runs a lot of controlled equipment also are limited to ~470-500hp and 4.0l The BTCC ran 8,500 RPM limits and controlled wheels (prob tyres too) They both provide good 'racing' and the new V8 supercars (COTF) are quite a well spec'd chassis & component package. Even the control engine teams can use (carried over from the old platform) are +600hp even though limited to 7,500rpm and 10:1 CR like you say, in a 2valve pushrod motor. Sure, all that is a compromise (hardly neutered), but what would like to see? What ever manufacturer that has the biggest cheque book dominate the field in a free for all.... I can do that on Gran Turismo.
-
I don't know, seeing an old 70's Celica running 2nd in the Improved Production races at bathurst was pretty kewl. But agree demo-derby brUtes is naff...

If you're getting it cert'd, better to run higher offsets + spacers, and get that cert'd. As they don't record the actual wheel offset (or never use to), High offset + spacers = low offset. Then you can still 'poke' it later on low offset + spacer = pokemon ps. What are you really getting it cert'd for anyway??
-
I think you missed the part above, that they aren't based on a production chassis, the exterior body panels are sat on a space frame chassis, albeit not as extreme as a DTM car chassis, which Audi do compete in, and are RWD.....
-
Seriously.... Skip to ~2:30 for the chassis stuff

^what he said^ The 3.0l M3 had the same 'knuckle' geometry as the non-M's (Was done with offset CAB's & Strut tops). The 3.2l M3 had different 'knuckle' geometry. What calipers are you looking at using on the 315mm M3 rotors?
-
Yes they will, but the calipers will not, as the M3 Spindles have more offset for the mounts (something like 3mm diff in offset due to the thicker rotors)
-
BMW also do an 'exchange' complete cylinder head/valve train. Was $1700-ish back in '06

=3 Shows up in the 'Attachments' Down here VVVVV And all the text is blind man spec, I'm not that old....
-
And they put a gopro on anything that moves... which ends up all over the net. All the 'dumb sh*t' from my youth is confined to memories, and certainly would want some of them on the internet.
-
Seriously, the photo evidence is pretty clear, hello, are those her skid marks either side o the middle of the road....
-
This guy is the first thing that came to mind...

+1 on seeing another V8 M3 With having your mits on that many S62's you could have invested in a custom rear sump (per Alpina) so you wouldn't have to swap the whole sub-frame and suspension over.

That's what I thought Rouge do some 10mm spacers, have a look at the pic, the big chamfer bit needs to fit your wheels, if not, your screwed, so just go wide
-
2c. 10mm is a nasty size as most won't be hub-centric, not enough material. IIRC the turner 10mm spacers come with fancy blue anodized hub extenders to locate the wheel. 12mm are pretty common, turner, rouge, H&R. I run 15mm Rouge spacers and are v.good quality.

Thought so, does it ever look like it has a blueish hue to it?? The colour book samples I looked at on the weekend made it look blueish when compared to the Titanium silver I chose. Steel Grey was my 1st choice, hoping I didn't make a wrong call, O'well. Thanks
-
Got the primer on the cage. 2 coats of 1k Etch/epoxy primer. Looks nice, I should just leave it at that...
-
Looks Hawt!! What colour is she?
-
Got Paint. Went for Titanium Silver (Titansilber No.354). Hopefully it's not too light, was going to go Steel Grey Metallic (400) but looked too dark *shrugs* Now the prep' continues *joy*
