  1. i dont know why so many try to jam it down low or down the back with all the room up front its easy for both the headers and exhaust outlet you also reduce engine bay temps as theres tons of air flow over it sitting up front
  2. cheers brent it pulls well below 3k and even without boost its very torquey as such its surprising how well it goes even off boost up to "0" atmo full boost is around 3300 depending on where you stand on it in forth or running through the gears which then it comes on sooner, i have to say its just a real fun car to drive it drops its butt and just goes
  3. why thankyou kind sir im not expecting many replies cause for the most many don't understand nor want to " white man's black magic" lol
  4. opps forgot that its an billet flywheel with a m30 535 pressure plate and clutch plate it just holds at the topend i have a OSGIKEN single plate to put in when i get time
  5. For those who maybe interested and those who are not feel free to pass on by. This is my workshop hack 91 m42b18 its now done 4500km on a fresh engine and it gets a hard time this is to prove the skeptics wrong ( why i bother is another question ) anyway the motor runs mitsi JE pistons "H" beam rods, stock crank, cap screwed mains, cap screw head bolts, modified oil pump and pickup and sump, stock head and cams, STOCK HEAD GASKET !!!, modified stock intake manifold, m50 throttle body, heads made by myself, 38mm tial gate, KKK26/27 turbo rated to 400kw, stock injectors, extra x2 360cc injectors, upgraded fuel pump, front mount cooler, 2 1/2" piping, 8" intake, MAPECU3 piggy back computer, runs a low 10psi. Uses stock DME controlled by the mapecu which also maps the extra injectors the stock lucas 240cc injectors allow it to run 5psi, the mapecu also controls the ignition, i tuned the car and it was road tuned using the data logger the mapecu has plus a dyno spec a/f meter and knock senor. It took around 2 hrs to tune on 91 and no theres no need to break the speed limit if you know what your doing and find lots of nice hills End result, it uses the stock back half exhaust so is nice and quiet, very smooth and has better economy than the stock motor did without a turbo and no detonation...until you put your leg up it as for how that goes? If sam from HELLBM happens to read this ill let him tell what he thinks but a m3 would have issue keeping up, it has tons left in it and 25plus psi isnt an issue but ill save that for my e34 turbo this is after all the workshop hack.

  7. if theres enough fall from the turbo it can work but if you over fill the sump if you were going to have a play at a track day it could cause and issue you can also tee into the oil pickup itll act as a scavenge i still think an external scavenge pump would be the answer being that low, but no harm in trying the worst itll do is smoke all the time
  8. nice thought but it still causes issues
  9. im well aware of what can be done i help with dan slatter and mike delmount all very much within the rules its about what and who you know makes for a great outcome and reading the class rules theres no limitation to what type of turbo is used nor power output can only run one unit where the alpina based car ran one one fit one if it ran two, no limits on motor mods or ecu the rules are pretty wide open really
  10. hollow out if you need help its my 24/7 job
  11. great stuff look forward to seeing how you go
  12. its not really enough fall mines two inches further up which you cant fit in i would look into a scavenge pump then theres never going to be an issue
  13. i helped design the mapecu many years ago with a good mate i went to school with and i still help out with it, i just finished tuning a mapecu3 in my turbo e36 318 using extra injectors runs great pulls like a school boy for a very low 10psi
  14. +1 as andrew has pointed out the other thing to do is run it up on the old injectors to get it running then swap them over when your tuner does his thing wont hurt to do it, also you need to select the scope you want as far as the table goes when going turbo -24 + 15psi suits most then copy and past the turn you have now up to "0" in the table makes life a little easier for the tuner.
  15. man theres a lot of tubing there
  16. really? you sure their from me cant remember buying them
  17. it needs to be an inch above the oil level line you can if theres enough fall run it around to the other side
  18. spoke to the tuner today it came up nice with the mapecu plus no afm it also had a big cam in it made just over 200hp motor
  19. correct torque is divide by the diff ratio so if it makes 700nm 3.9 diff = 179.48nm motor as long as the run was doing with a 1-1 drive ratio as for power the TCF factor should be between .98-1.00. i did a rb25 on monday 15psi made 367kw wheel and 360nm motor im sure everyone gets the picture

    ITB M42

You can also run the headers forward then back under leaves tons of room to work with
  21. To be honest with you...... Your doing great for very low budget the biggest issue is the oil return unfortunately you've already positioned the turbo an easy place of oil return is the front cover but the turbo needs to be higher up, the next way is build a small catch tank under the turbo then use a vacuum pump off an diesel alternator run it off the main fan belt then suck the oil out and pump it back into the rocker cover. The other way is a lot more work you weld a pipe to the oil pickup in the sump run it to the front of the sump then run the turbo return into it, it acts as a scavenge and doesn't hurt oil supply to the motor i do this on turbo bikes works well but a fair bit of work is needed.
