  1. The yellow one is supercharged and now sites on Work rims. Tastefull mods and upgrades.
  2. A cab for inspiration. Would drive on any day
  3. added all USB , sata, audio and power cabling Mounted raspberry pi. Used standard PCB header connectors from Jaycar electronics so everything can unplug from pibus board. Bluray player had small m2 screws. Drilled holes in old 3.5 drive bay bracket and mounted player. Re assembly Back Added Molex connector which has input from reverse light and output trigger for BMW video module. Basically the piboard tricks the video module into thinking a reverse cam has been trigger. It will either output camera or media centre to BMW board monitor. Last bit was adding a USB Async sabre audio DAC. Its not normally needed but my aftermarket DSP has a digital input. This means I can go digital audio straight to the processor from music content stored on the Raspberry. It will avoid the audio from going through another three sets of analogue audio stages before hitting the amps. It should in theory provide very low distortion through to the audio amps. http://hifimediy.com/U2-DAC.
  4. Re-used factory connection sockets for changer audio output and power / ibus . System will require about 3 amps at 12 volts when running. Existing cd charger power wire ok at this level. Old alpine pcb Replaced with audio and raspberry pi and USB powered hub power. Pi bus daughter board for raspberry pi. Clever design. Has microcontroller that listens for ibus signals such as infosystem on , boardmointor controls , steering wheel audio buttons etc. It controls start up and shutdown of Raspberry, audiophile grade audio which is feed back into factory stereo replacing cd changer. Also does video switching when selected. Either reverse camera or raspberry pi running openekec OS and xbmc media centre. More detail at http://pibus.info/ Added an old CPU fan to the case. Just in case ......get it ....... Also a couple of RCA sockets for reverse camera input and system video output. EDIT , fan didn't work out , CPU fan far too noisy. Could hear it inside car. Has been disconnected but unit temp ok on PI without it.

    WTB: E46 M3 - Manual

Coupe or Cab ? i know of a cab in Wellington . One of the fussiest car collectos II know.
  6. Was meaning the star badge , but I'm guessing AMGs in the 80s where more like what Alpina is to BMW. Car in question http://www.supercars.net/blog/1988-mercedes-benz-300-e-amg-hammer/
  7. A simple bit of research would have led to amg hammer. Fav car with that badge on it.
  8. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Ban or public flogging
  9. On the manual subject a period car needs to be manual to typify the experience. I'd hate a auto or SMG version in my 60s Mini's. Wouldn't get the best out of the limited power in one of them. The other wouldn't seem right with LSD, straight cut cr box and drop gears and the mechanical raucous that will go on.
  10. Ruined by the PC brigade, Did you notice the double yellow lines bridge to bridge ? Cops hiding in trees during summer. Pinging any biker that dares to overtake the car traveling at 30 kph with half a km of traffic held behind it.
  11. Almost done ..... 400 lossless digital albums all controlled via factory nav and sound via digital audio straight into aftermarket DSP.
  12. Log in not work from drop down (running surface RT 2008) On screen keyboard kept disappearing and the word display would overwrite login field. Might be an issue for other tablets ? Could login via support link as alternative.
  13. http://www.mishimoto.com/bmw-radiator-performance-aluminum.html Plenty of these used in track day BMW M3s Worth a look
  14. car dealer warned me off high km e55 compressors. He had a warranty claim for $20k for a customer to replace the active rear shocks and a couple of suspension bits in the rear. He won't sell them anymore . I do however know two owners that have had theses from new without issues. I think the M5 would be a safer bet in this regard.
  15. After you've reported it stolen to the police make a request for video footage under the official information act. Being a council they have certain responsibilities to provide information. Cc your solicitor Here's how http://www.howtolaw.co/make-an-official-information-request-392288#

    Airbag recalls

Sounding like USA is about to get the first batch of 45000 air bags for the second recall. These are large campaigns to gear up for so I wouldn't expect it to be over night. Local dealer replaced my passenger one during a warrant. No charges where applied.
  17. Great car to have over your way. Castlepoint drive would be excellent as would back roads for a Martinborugh for a coffee. Enjoy !
  18. I think the issue might have been BMW understating the 1m figures as it had similar power and more torque than the more expensive e90 m3s Eitherway the 1m is a fantastic.car . Ironically the USA LHD versions could be brought for Nz$50,000 new from the dealer when I was in San Deigo 2012 . Bargain car at that price.
  19. Dyno run was at a bmwcc event in wellington 1M was highest BMW on the day by a clear margin. Just over 400 hp and 550nm. Second was a SLK32 at 396hp (Had been overdriven and cold air intake) My e46 was 305hp 330nms from memory and another modified e46 m3 did 275hp but run limited to 7000rpm as running too rich There was a 335i but it wouldn't rev out on dyno so we missed out on the differences between turbo engines. BTW 135s jumped to 235kw in some counties. (135is in USA for example)
  20. At a dyno day one of these cleared my e46 m3 by 70 kilowatts / 200nm at the hubs yet both cars are rated around the 250 kW mark . Both cars were standard.
  21. Welcome ! I'm another e46 coupe / etal bike owner.
  22. Would it need one for engine transplant ? 325i and 328i have same power quoted by the factory when standard. Seats would bolt in. Thinking it would be suspension that may need it.
  23. The brand of stacker is on the back of it. NZ new e36s many used Sony units to a certain point. ( my NZ 94 325i) Philips where also used ( wife's 96 328i) Take a picture of the stacker cartridge and post it up. Might be able to tell from that.
  24. I would have done exactly the same thing. I wouldn't waste time or experiment finding a place to do springs. Too many trashed car stories and double visits. It's also ironic that the current dealer mechanics get a bashing , old gen bashing the new gen. Kiwi thing. Had a opportunity to talk with one here locally. Had come out from my fav motorcycle dealer and had probably shimmed more valve trains than the majority of car mechanics. Had been working through the BMW courses etc. I'd have no issue with him doing servicing ( and shims)on my M3 any time but there are quite a number there that I have the same regard for.
