On older ibus versions its more of a electrical conversion that a software plus hardware plus coding affair. Its largely plug and play. What I'd recommend is that you check out http://www.info.org.nz/?download=e39_jap_2_euro_nav_conversion_mar09.pdf and also take your time to understand the WDS wiring information and cross check the wiring colours. http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/release/en/ In my e46 both the japan nav and telephony module have been swapped out for mk4 and Bluetooth Ulf. I needed up buying the factory.loom for TV to mk4 module and found that a few wiring colour codes where different in the telephone module. The nice thing about the mk4 module is it only needs a subset of the jap nav wiring to work. The gps Trimble stage is built in you can get away with not needing wheel pulse feeds as it estimates average speed reasonably well. In the telephone module I use the shark fin aerial instead of installing a factory BT aerial and the coverage works in my lounge with the car parked in the garage. If the car was a late model Merc which runs basic encryption between modules then your posting link is quite valid. Its easier to turn one of these into a teapot than people think . A few stories of performance remaps which render the car useless with the only fix is to re-issue a new factory id and only at the dealers discretion. $9k later .....

Btw, with the tv tuner module you can plug your phone video out into the BMW screen for the life's of google maps. Use voice commands to control the app for hads free.. It's a bit clunky and mono audio but does work.

Reminds me, voice turn instructions are nicely mixed into factory audio system at a volume level of your choice . Basic distance before turn shows up on dash display as well so . Can also run split screen with radio on one side and intructions on other. There is a choice of voices with the Nav software version cd.

Mine was a Jap import and has the annoying infrared system Thinking of getting the rf keys and having the Dwa led use the clown nose. Photo would be useful

Brain scan clear (MRI) Eye surgery successful and loss of vision halted for the time being 9 months of reflection and contemplation over and feeling fortunate. And a couple sneaky glasses of wine on a Friday evening reading bimmersport posts. Life is good .......... actually very good........

I remember peanut butter sandwich lunches and 60km commuting two up a 250cc motorcycle to save money.4 years. Not owning a TV for 5 years, no going out unless birthday or similar. Wife did degree over 10 years in evenings and weekends. I did whatever overtime I could and pushed myself at work.I Had the same e30 for 15 years /330,000kms. First house paid off in late 30s. Apart from the Auckland market I tend to smile at people b$tching and moaning about getting into the housing market yet will have $1k cellphones , $40-60k tied up in a cars and spend a few hundred on a Friday entertaining themselves. It's a matter of choices and some hard work.

The maps are basic and arrival time is over optimistic. Points of interests are useful such as nearest gas station etc. Interface is easy to use. Voice commands can be used if a Ulf telephone module is installed. these have day and night mode and night mode is easy on the eye without too much glare. has an odb display as well.

Even in 2005 $5k gbp seemed to be the norm for doer uppers. I tried for about 6 months to find a reasonable one but ran out of time ( needed to own one for 3 months before you could import a LHD) . Ironically an evolution (2.3) came up for sale for $11k GBP or around $27k NZ about 3 weeks before I came home. Too late for me to export it under rules of the time.

Was in a Chrysler 350c , Owner was a reformed legacy turbo owner Ron. Perfect passenger car.

Your car had factory JDM Nav. The bm53 tuner, video TV module and cd stacker and amp is reusable.it would require a 16/9 board monitor for the front of the car and give control to these components. You could also get a mk4 Nav unit to complete the setup but it's not really needed.. Alternatively you need to get an antenna power from your current head unit and run a wire and connect it to the white wire that is in the large square connector in the boot. This will power the aerial amp and give you fm reception .

I run pss at the moment, the car has had Bridgestone re11, yoko v103 and conti sports. The PSS has been the quietest tyre with contis second. Maybe a Perrili p7 ? Mate had these on his Luxo cruiser and the car was extremely quiet.

This one pulled dyno figures that suggests BMW have understated both kW and Nms to avoid upsetting e90 m3 owners. If my memory serves me right it's not far off current M3 numbers and this one is standard. Was highest numbers for the day .

Just double check the e21 2.3 engine first. These where prone to head cracking. Any use of water and be weary. Personally I thought the e21 efi had better midrange going by butt dyno. I had both a e21 & e30 323i , The e21 used plenty more gas though.

The aerial amp in the left hand c pillar gets its power via the white wire. Muke sure your seeing 12 volts when your head unit is turned on. If not this will likely be the cause of poor fm reception.

Porsche parts on a Bimmer ? "Ruff"

Just noticed your speedo only goes to 260 kmh. I think you need more numbers for that engine of yours

This is the issue with disruptive technology. That the Internet has brought. A company can carve out a neche area and compete on a global scale. The generalist business owner can't compete and even lost money trying to bid for a slice of 90 dollar part. How much did your gasket query cost the small business owner in time and lost opportunity . Sure he could of googled / Amazon / aliexoressed it. Then he's got to make a quality call, ship and sell it. Any issues and it's back one him for maybe 10 points of margin to get the sale. Mean while he has a brand new carb that he knows will work and could sell you. He'll likely go out of business and let go of the people that he employees. Not good for that community. He should have been upfront realising that your a DIY'r , a low margin customer and it wasn't worth either persons time. He wants a volume customer or a customer that will pay for the repair where he has more flexibility and margin. I think the person using the shoe shop for a fitting service and buying online is off . What service did they get for free in return ?

Had same issue with clear coat lifting on polished Lip on ACS type ones a few years back. Very strong wheel wash at JGBMW -
When you find out your car isn't the model year you thought...

Didn't the m3 v8 get a performance update between 2008 and 2010 ? Read somewhere that the later ones were slightly quicker . I'd be annoyed if I was looking for something closer to an lci to find out it was an earlier example. Mental note, always get chassis number when buying a BMW -
Not quite an m10 but love this m12 resto / rebuild video

Storm water ends up in the inlet where I live. Driveway drainage ends up in it. I'm thinking of getting some kind of water boom or washing sump system. Unfortunately I have no grass areas and the only way to create one is to cut down well established native trees which is ironic. I typically only wash the car with water , car bush and shammy.

I like the evolution of the BMW, refinement with performance comes to mind. I quite liked the f series 320i touring the dealer lent me. It actually reminded me more of my old e30 than the e36 & e46. Come to think of it I also set a faster slalom time in a f 320d than my e46 M3. I think BMW just gets better.

What happens to all that foam after ? Just asking , does it break down ? Live in a suburb where it's now illegal to wash your car if any of the runoff gets to storm water drains
