Thought it might be one of those one eyed posted like us e46 SMG M3 owners do all the time ? Perhaps the original 3.0 m3 will shoot up in value soon. Starting to become a rare sight these days.

Eh ? Flimsy body compared to e46 platform. No wonder it's 100kg lighter..... lower power to and tourqe weight ratio. Narrow track, smaller brakes ... / Who let Trump in here ?

Need a replacement insurer for E60 2009 BMW 550i
Neal replied to Benoire's topic in General Discussion
Used a broker for my motorcycle. JB insurance which are now ion. Was a race kitted Ducati and got quoted $2800 for $34,000 cover from State and a few others. JB was like $1200 . Had a great conversation with JB. Policy was also great as it cover items such as getting home , gear cover and funeral cover. Saw them replace a mates bike ( MV Augusta ) that was a couple years old at the time .$39k payout quickly settled. -
Need a replacement insurer for E60 2009 BMW 550i

To counter this my wife had a 318 e36 that we brought fior $12500 a number of years back. The car got rear ended and shunted into car in front . Wife suffered neck injuries as did the driver in the car she hit. Damage was extensive to the point of the tyrewell being buckled and rear door gaps had closed up. aurgued car should be written off. Policy was to repair the car even if it came to 80% of market value. They repaired the car and it went back a couple of times for overheating and sir con radiator According to the smash repairer the total bill ended being $11,800. I wasn't happy with the outcome as to me the rear crumple zone was now weaker. Car was put on a chassis straightener and crumpled boot area was pulled out by welding a block and tackle method. Wasn't convinced the car still had its full strength restored. A combo of new and second hand parts were used. -
Had one of those in my 1985 323i ran the gear posted earlier as not a lot of output from factory unit. if adding an aftermarket amp check that it has enough gain as the early pre out Din plug Alpines put out 500 millivolt. These do have 4 channel out.

That's a serious performance differential ! When I first competed in the Cliffhanger hill climb (748r)I was humbled by a 16 y/o on a RS125 who put the same time down. At this event you can enter on a road registered bike. Ironically the Rossi weekend look alikes on 1000 il4s where never to be seen at this event, Too busy sipping soy latees at some alfresco cafe navel gassing at their chicken strips and exchanging bus ticket bitch slapping tales of how fast they are. then you get a pro on a il4 doing it !

I reckon. I've had more favourable nods and waves from the fairer sex on the Duc than any other bike I've owned bike put together. Should have been the gsxr1000 from a performance pov . No wait... I'm off topic . Agree on opperator. Quite humbling when you thing think your a good road rider and attend a session where the Bernard team fly passed and are at the point of getting elbows down. anyway, thread is reminding me that my a series turbo project needs dusting of. Not a performance engine, but certainly built to push the power to double the factory tags.

That's at the top of my ugly bike list and just because people can doesn't mean they should !

Is this where I say... i wish my wife was this dirty ? Car overdue for a clay bar and three stage wax session.

There are also kits similar to Bavsound using Dayton Rs drivers on eBay. But focal / morel in different league . Bavsound have used a number of branded drivers over the years. Issue going that way is it still uses lower power factory amp. Won't meeting the dynamics wanted above

I like what you've done with that

Merry Christmas Been great to meet some of you in person in Wgtn and Auckland this year. hope Santa has treated you all well

http://stores.ebay.com/WoofersEtc/_i.html?_nkw=Morel&submit=Search&_sid=709899467 ive brought speakers via these guys and they are good to deal with (woofersetc) the space behind the door card and door metal is the limiting factor for some of the choices. If you will to cut an opening then more of the morel range will fit. sail area is better location for tweeters than m3 door location. Makes the distance between right tweeter and midbass more equal to the right ear. Consider going active on your speaker by getting two 4 channel amps. 4 channel upfront ( just use amp high and low pass filters) use another 4 channel in tri mode .2 channels for rear fill and two channels bridged for sub. Put a y rca lead in so the sub gets its rca feed from the front speaker amp. That will keep volume in check. back to the morels. So check the morel car series prices with the individual drivers available parts-express.com.By buying from parts express you may find you can go the range for a similar price by dropping the crossovers. eg tweeter http://www.parts-express.com/morel-mdt-12-1-1-8-neodymium-tweeter--277-060 mid bass if these can be made to fit ( see Zeros door build) note, one of these look to be the drivers in NZ image speakers http://www.parts-express.com/cat/midrange-midbass-drivers-full-range-speakers/16?N=21631+4294967118+4294965095+4294965077+4294964893+4294964980&Ne=10166&Nrs=collection()%2Frecord[endeca%3Amatches(.%2C"P_PortalID"%2C"1")+and+endeca%3Amatches(.%2C"P_Searchable"%2C"1")]&PortalID=1 sub wise I'm guessing a hidden box . There is a new 8 inch sub on the market that might fit the bill. http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-um8-22-8-ultimax-dvc-subwoofer-2-ohms-per-coil--295-508 Speaker wiring. looking at wds the midbass wiring is 1.5mm2 or roughly 15 gauge. You can run new wiring via the door connector but u found this to be a high labour low reward experience. BMWs tyco / amp connector is licensed hence you don't see many aftermarket looms. i did come across this guy who mad the amplifier connector from scratch. He offers a range of plug in harnesses for BMW audio https://technicpnp.com/shop/

Sub'd.. I'd also do a few things differently if I'd started over. Keeping the factory HU does limit the sound. I did trace it down to the last "output stage" as the sound quality taken straight from the op amps after the Dac is quite good. speaker wise I'd either find a better off axis Tweeter or pillar mount the tweeters. I'd also get morel drivers via parts express as my $k plus PPIs dont deliver sq to the price paid. I'd also go 6.5 or 8s on mid bass. cabling wise I'd use factory speaker wiring via technic harness adaptor as not convinced that my single run 14 gauge wiring has delivered. Sources are fickle. Sq in my car is best by raspberry Pi with $60 optical USB dongle, then iPhone 5s or 6 via analogue and last the factory system. All of these sources connect to a dsp / preamp. Some of the top comp car systems are iPad based now with optical into dsp so iOS streaming can be done well. Dsp wise, time alignment seems to have given good gains but I've had issues with two brands of dsp having some kind of failure. Id also check out some newer class d Amos as they run cold and are smaller for the install.

Interesting view on blue printing in my car I'm picturing a series engine where the manufacturing process leaves plenty of room for improvement in pistons, rods and crank and breathing comes via porting. i guessing manufacturing tolerances these days are so close it's not needed unless you want that 10000 rpm plus s14

Anything that's been ported and polished, balanced and blueprinted, has bigger carbs, headers or extractors, raised compression ratio with 1/2 race cam or better. or modern stuff where most of this is in base build... or anything with a Honda badge simple !

Went to replace rear left fog light bulb on m3. Slight problem....see photo. Also added analogue lighting adaptor to 3D printed iPhone ashtray dock.

Stunning project. Post more pictures please.

The USA video on the SS was very complimentary . Mentioned a few of the design engineers were also across the e39 M5. Sounding like a very good car.

Car park buildings in wgtn that are open then closed then open again. Did they actually check the building when I asked if it had been checked and safe ..... yes sir , people are parking in it now ....only to be closed 2 days later for "48 hour inspection" Wft, don't lie upfront , instead say something like , looks ok but park at your own risk , inspection later in the week.

What are your biggest pleasures of owning a BMW?

Tunnels and s54 engines. ? -
Remember reading an article about him and his personal engine dyno in his basement at home. Shows the level of dedication.

Don't get a tiltadoor unless it's sectional.Made that mistake with my first one. It occasionally would hit a car or guest car if parked to close. Not good with kids either. also limits how much height you have to play with an engine when using an engine hoist if door open.

Slightly off your topic but this was my favourite garage in terms of ideas for a garage workshop. Has really well planned spaces and I like the drop down wall benches. http://www.12-gaugegarage.com/photos/index.html
