euroriffic 607 Report post Posted May 27, 2014 So you pulled out the tuffer, lsd diff for a smaller non lsd? Does not compute!
kiwi535 538 Report post Posted May 27, 2014 And how do more ponies become available?
Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted May 27, 2014 Less parasitic loss through less mass in 188mm diff vs 210mm. Comes at the sacrifice of strength but I don't imagine he'll be looking to feed 750hp & 650lb/ft of torque through it so it shouldn't matter

BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted May 27, 2014 So you pulled out the tuffer, lsd diff for a smaller non lsd? Does not compute! both are lsd's 3.91 ratio's ^ He used a LSD but I don't understand why medium case is better than large case... ? e28's e24' e34's etc used both large and medium case diffs depending on the market , engine power etc the large one weighs heaps about 45kg vs 37kg And how do more ponies become available? less rotating mass , like having smaller wheels etc Less parasitic loss through less mass in 188mm diff vs 210mm. Comes at the sacrifice of strength but I don't imagine he'll be looking to feed 750hp & 650lb/ft of torque through it so it shouldn't matter my thoughts too, seen plenty of v8 and turbo powered e30's still using med case diffs. might be pushing it a bit but kayne barrie reckons they can take quite a bit upto 400hp etc so will see how this one survives i mean the old school v8 guys rave on about a ford 9" diff , well a bmw large case diff is 8.5" and the medium case are 7.5" and have you seen the stupid small diffs they fit in turbo subaru's , nissans etc
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted May 27, 2014 Made a sound generating device inside the cabin from a feed tapped into the intake resonator box. Needs refining but I could see it been a cool feature to switch on and off for a sportier experience.

sonic_attack 89 Report post Posted June 1, 2014 Waterpump and new alt/air-con belts while I was in there. I empathize with anyone else having to undertake this task on an M60 by themselves as well. I don't think I've owned another car whereby your tools are so easily lost down the nooks and crannies of the engine bay. The 2" 3/8 drive extension with 10mm socket lost under the engine management/computer/electronics box at left rear of an e34 engine bay had me howling some filthy language. I mastered the two fingered long-nose pliers operation like a brain surgeon in the end though... :-/
