euroriffic 607 Report post Posted August 23, 2012 Have you done an oil filter housing seal? Can't say I have but I'm sure my Haynes manual can give good advice
euroriffic 607 Report post Posted August 23, 2012 Discovered the drivers side rear door seal has failed with the ton of rain we've had this week and has absolutely soaked the carpet on that side. Pulled drivers seat out, squeezed about 2l of water out the underlay and now have a dehumidifier going in it. God damn it! Just noticed today that the passengers side rear floor is also wet. OHHH BOB SAGET!!!!

huff3r 347 Report post Posted August 24, 2012 Finally fixed the boot. Turns out the circlip holding the spring in the lock barrel had popped out. Now works a treat. Also washed both car and bike, nice and shiny now.
jeffbebe 1559 Report post Posted August 26, 2012 Gave it the VIP wash and wax. Even used the clay bar so she's very, very shiny right now... Until it rains again. Oh how I wish we could afford to build a garage under the house!

Guest Ari Gold Report post Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) Ignition Barrel? Very close. Starter fires but no spark? No, the starter solenoid doesn't click at all when ignition turned. If it's a starter/solenoid issue I assume the starter won't be doing jack. Indeed. Your right .. shame on me for not reading. Was going to suggest the 80amp inline blade fuse in the boot which is part of where the cme gets supply. mine went once, couldnt figure it out for ages. In the end replaced it with a circuit breaker instead. It's a 318i for a start Josh, so there is no fuse in the boot Spent Saturday with a multimeter and some think juice. Have pretty well nailed it down to the ignition switch not talking to the starter solenoid. The only way we diagnosed this was if the key was turned normally, nothing would happen, but if the key was pushed in tight and turned the car would fire first time. Suggests the area where the barrel sits against the ignition switch is on the way out. Edited August 26, 2012 by Ari Gold

Allanw 1071 Report post Posted August 31, 2012 Sorted out my new garage... That looks an awful lot like mine... all you'd have to do is dump a skipful of crap in it, so there is only enough floor showing to drive the 1 car in and out I used to have 4 cars in mine, but now have so much sh*t that 2 is a struggle! Lucky I have a barn too!
Lucan 196 Report post Posted August 31, 2012 I removed my busted sump, didn't need to drop subframe, lifted engine and slid it right out!
Allanw 1071 Report post Posted August 31, 2012 I fitted the new driver door lock, then used the neighbours hoist to do some more of my front suspension overhaul. Fitted some powerflex bushes to the E39, new drop links etc, still have to do tie rods and the entire rear end. And drive belts/tensioners. And the power steering leak. And the rear door membranes. And recode the PDC for 4 sensors instead of 8. I'm getting VERY handy at coding mods too. The software is at least familiar to me now, so I have indicators set for double blink, optical lock.\/unlock confirmation, coded a used LCM from an X5 to not strobe the LED angeleye bulbs, changed the service interval from 2350 Litres to 1800 Litres (don't like long service intervals!) I have a new addiction now
