I hope the seller makes all the scummy car dealers fight in driveway to see who gets to list it at double that price for the next 2 years.

I’d be a happy man with that in that colour sitting in the garage for weekends.

Wondered what happened to this one. Would see it now and again but not for the last few years.

Great car in a great colour, I almost bought one 15 years ago (LHD).  But...

-it's missing the factory radio

-has a LOT of kms

-has EDC, not a plus in my book as it will definitely need replacing/removing at some point, if it even works now.

The 91 was on TM for along time at $45k... no sure if it sold. It only had 160k kms.

Mileage is steady and appears to have had decent life being 1 owner and imported in NZ early on. K's mean very little in regards to engine health but you'd do the relevant tests on it anyway. Suspension is stuffed on most old BMW's regardless so you'd likely be replacing most of it if not already done.

Stunning car.

I remember having a great chat with the owner after a visit to the Paraparaumu pool. Lovely guy and a real enthusiast. Condolances to the family if they end up reading here.

If you're going to get one, get it in the right colour.

This is the right colour.

Saw the video when he posted it and remembered the car when it was for sale.

Bit of a shame it sold overseas really. Really lovely spec, e34 m5 is on my car bucket list to own and that one would've been the one to get.

I live in the USA so I was initially confused why he would make this purchase. Doing a little due diligence looking at the cars sold/available in the USA- there is a shortage of E34 M5’s in the iconic, eye-catching M colours like Daytona violet. Everything seems to be in white or black with the standard leather interiors. This ex-Christchurch car spent the majority of its time near Wellington. I had heard of this car for years - people talked about this purple M5 with m cloth interior- a spec I similarly coveted. My buddy owns a white ex-UK M5 that was brought into NZ and has black leather with M cloth inserts. So insanely cool too! So I get it. This cat in Illinois was not going to find one like this in the USA very easily - despite the population. Awesome spec.
