Finally an E30 update, albeit small. Huge battle with the suspension company. My certifier picked up on the fact that the pictures in the report weren't of my setup. So they sent through a report without pictures, obviously my certifier wasn't happy with that. Literally 2 months later I have a valid report. Now just plodding my way through the rest of the defects. On a happier note! Traded all non-vital organs for these beautiful items. Wheel colour is different but I plan to fix that up by matching the centre cap colour. Apparently there's limited stock worldwide, figured I might as well nab them now.

Intro This is my 1989 BMW E30 coupe project. I've built cars my whole life, and this one is #68 of those I've owned. I'd spent 4 years pursuing a coupe, particularly a non-sunroof facelift version. I finally found this on Facebook and after a quick drive I bought it in December 2018. Prior to this was an E46 coupe that I ZF manual swapped - which was awesome, but plagued me with electrical headaches. So I wanted something simpler to work on, but with the same drivetrain....queue the E30! The Plan Originally it was going to be a facelift M3 body swap. After working out costs (even performing the bodywork myself), I moved to an Mtech2 goal However as this project has now cost way more than originally planned, I've subsequently sold the MTech2 kit to progress finishing it off as is and enjoy it. In a way it suits the original car better. It is / was a 318i base model, with only electric windows, a/c and pop out rear windows - a nice, simple car! I always wanted an M54B30 and ZF to go in it, so that's what's happened. Just, a little more complicatedly than expected.

Time for this to go to new home. It's a solid, shiny car, makes some cool noises. Sadly, I have a car that looks better and makes cooler noises and i have no time to enjoy either of them properly. I have had it for 3 years and 25000km now. It's had a few bit's and pieces done in that time. 2006 BMW M5. $21000. 91000km. H&R lowering springs. Serviced by Burgers Motor Works in June. Aftermarket mufflers. Stock everything else. 8.5-9/10 condition wise. You could get it up to a 9.5 with very little work. Other work done: ABS pump replaced. VANOS ring seals replaced. Spark plugs. Air filters. Diff seal. Wheels completely refurbished and painted in black shadow. Hood struts. Battery. Voltage regulator. 1x idle actuator. New BMW coolant. Thermostat. Front and rear windscreen seals. Outstanding items: Needs new tyres before next winter. Downshift paddle is weak. It's fully functional but needs to be taken apart and glued. Still has japanese radio and nav.

Decided I should probably try my normal insurance, ANZ (Vero), happy do it in current guise for a really fair price.

Brent sorted me out a pump for my M5. Swapped it onto my block and electronics. Saved me 4 grand.

Some progress while I’m waiting on parts Bit of cleaning and painting Used “Rust Kill” paint which was recommended and goes straight on after wire brushing and degreasing. Like the gloss, looks like powder coat. Got the sump off and removed the oil pump. Certainly dark n dank in the bottom of the pan. Plan is to replace big end rod bearings with ACL bearings & APR bolts. A suggestion is to put a dual pick-up pump in or alternatively I could put in a bimmerworld or similar baffle but the sump already is baffled (of sorts). Definitely will replace oil pump nut and tack on. Will also check lower chain tensioner and replace as per sweetm3/ tip. Anything else while I’m here?

Cool. I was interested in that one myself and exchanged a few texts with the dealer, but ended up going NZ new, lower kms, service history etc. I have a bit of a reputation for owning white cars, so I kinda had to get one in a different colour! I did like the look of the wheels on that one though and it's lower than mine. Is it a competition pack, or has someone made those touches to it? Had an interesting intake too, right? And it's LCI ?

One is required, but more are probably appreciated, given the price,by prospective purchasers.

Nice. Is that the one that eurosport were selling earlier in the year?

Expect it would be far cheaper, easier and more HP to buy the VF supercharger kit.

no symptoms really. I felt a shudder every now and again from take off but not often or bad enough to make me worry. At 50-60km/h it would change down a gear...almost like it couldn't make up it's mind what gear it wanted to be in...again, has done it for the 2.5 years I've owned it and never really bothered me...that's why I'm rebuilding the torque converter though. I've never noticed any slipping, or delay in shift or delay when going from drive to reverse etc it's always felt tight ? The failure was immediate. One minute fine, next minute going nowhere.

The registration says it all. In my home language (Afrikaans), "KAK" means "SH*T". ?

Lemforder or Melie HD are fine, I'd use the former if they were available. That subframe looks mint, a job well done.

Back to the engine. Many. many boxes of parts had arrived from FCP including: All new seals, gaskets, timing chain, chain guides, rear main seal, headgasket, oil filter, full PCV replacement and much more. Basically if it was able to be replaced, it was. Even the O-rings on the dipstick weren't missed. Remembering the engine was basically a short block, I hunted around and picked up the other random engine conversion parts needed, namely starter motor, a/c setup, alternator, gearbox shied, all the bolts, e36 engine mount arms, e28 m5 engine mount rubbers, throttle body, DISA valve, ignitiors and loom. I'd also secured an e34 sump, pickup and dipstick. I spent a fair few hours cleaning and painting the block and head, as well as checking, cleaning or replacing everything I could.

Update I ended up picking up the KAP Industries one instead of the VAC due to shipping problems. Glad that I picked up the KAP Industries one and is very happy with it. Cheers Paul
