  3. What is the current reasonable sale price for an E34 540i , I know it's condition dependent. I was leading the auction on one a week ago that closed for just over $2k , in the final hour I had a work issue to deal with and completely forgot about it. So now I'm back browsing around and at present there doesn't seem to be anything under 8k available. Assume that I'm looking for something that is not a complete basket case but it certainly doesn't need to be a show car either. At present I'm torn between an E34 or an E46 as a run around, and until something turns up that ticks the boxes I may as well keep exploring options. Cheers.

  6. Does anyone know the fitment of a M20 gearbox to a M52b25? Car in question is an E36 323i I've tried searching and I'm sure that its been discussed a lot before however the general consensus from what I have seen online is that an M20 will bolt up to an M52 however will need to have custom mounts made due it it sitting on an angle? I am unsure whether my current clutch or driveshaft would fit. Reason for M20 box (please correct me if I'm wrong {probably am}) is that there seem to be a lot more of them around and they are a lot cheaper than E36 box's which are slightly different? from my understanding. I very much appreciate any responses on here as my current box G220 (If I've identified it correctly) has decided it doesn't really want to be a gearbox anymore and the only box's (or rebuild cost) I have seen is $3500 and up.

  8. I've got a problem with my e34 525i where the fuel gauge is stuck on more or less empty, I've tried taking apart the sender unit and cleaning the resistance wires but no luck. I've also run the cluster test thing and the gauge itself fully moves during the test so think something may be up with the sender unit and thinking about getting a new one. There's a few from repco and supercheap but not sure if they'll actually fit (non oems) but the parts picker says they do. I've got a multi meter if there's any other diagnostics I can do to try narrow it down. Any recommendations on where to pick on up or things to test? In Auckland but don't mind getting one shipped
  9. Hi all my name's Nathan and recently I acquired my first BMW Touring, a 1992 525i. I bought this car after my very nice Mercedes W124 Estate was written off in an accident and I couldn't find a good W124 wagon anywhere. I'd always liked the E34 Touring so I took the plunge and went over to 'the dark side' as the Merc crowd would say! It's in great condition (engine bay is fantastic with a lot of work done) and I just got her back from some panel and paint this week which looks great. Underside is also great with no rust, and the interior is near mint. I need some advice on the SLS as I'm told one of the shocks has gone, but the other is good. I'll get some advice from another area on the forum as I'm sure you'll all have some remedies and plans of action - it rides very hard in the rear at the moment!   18. Hi guys, A little while ago I bought a manual e34 sedan from which I plan to take out the manual transmission and place into my automatic touring. Since I've been driving it, I've noticed that the engagement point is very high up in the pedal (last couple of cms) and that the clutch doesn't bite very hard. Looking though the stack of receipts for the car, it looks like the clutch was replaced by HELLBM fairly recently so I don't think its a worn clutch issue. I'm wondering if this is normal for e34's or if its an issue with the style clutch used, length of the throughout bearing, stack height of the clutch etc. Any thoughts or how I can test further is greatly appreciated! Also worth noting that the manual in the sedan is not original but was previously swapped in. Cheers
  19. Hey guys, So about a year ago I picked up a 1995 525i auto touring with 275,000 kms (now has 302,000 kms) which has been my daily driver and now turning into a project car. The car is in alright condition but does need some love to bring it back to its former glory. It will be getting a manual transmission from a second e34 sedan that I own. I'll also be upgrading suspension, brakes, wheels and eventually tinkering with the motor once I decide what I want to do (m60 v8 vs turbo m50b25 open to opinions). Cosmetically I would like to clean up both the interior and exterior to what should be original condition and maybe some minor upgrades, but nothing too over the top. Exterior paint is in pretty rough condition with the clear coat peeling in many areas. Inside, the leather seats have torn where you sit (already bought replacement seats), headliner is sagging, and steering wheel is fairly worn, instrument cluster lcd has gone out, would like to install factory radio or something similar back in. The goals for this project are; #Do as much myself as I can. #Learn as much as I can in the process. #Teach others what I've learnt in the process. #Build a pretty neat car by the end of it. Obligatory pictures below! Oh and if anyone has any ideas or parts for sale that might help me out, please shout out!

  24. From a manual UK import 535i. The part where the top left screw goes has a chip on it. Worked when removed from car (parted as it was too rusty), but I cannot remember if all the pixels were good. AIWI Located in Wellington. $30 $20
  25. Hi guys ? I'm a bit of a noob here but I was wondering if anybody can give me advice on basic engine upgrades I can do to increase horsepower in my 1993 525i, its got a M50TUB25 engine and I believe with all the stock parts its at 192 HP, its my first Bimmer and I'm looking at basic parts replacements or modifications to get it to around 250 HP, and hopefully look to learn as much as I can along the way ?
