3 pointsSaw this when you first posted it and first thought was nobody will pay $65K for a 335i. Just checked TradeMe briefly and the most expensive 335i Msport was 45K (Jap Import, LCI, 9,500km) There are numerous for sub-30K, and a number of M3s for less than $65K. I'd suggest looking at the market to get an accurate gauge of what you car is worth. That's why I didn't reply.

1 pointLooks like a good buy, they look great in white. Just a note on the tint, 5% is illegal and may cause you problems in the future.

1 pointIn other words, can we get a m70 to run off a m73 DME? That way you can pair the EGS and DME with their CAN?
-
1 pointEasiest way to make all of this work is to transplant the electronics from a later model car into yours. While it is entirely possible to build up a analogue to CAN signal transceiver it is a hell of a lot of work. The main reason is someone (me cause I don't know anyone else in NZ with the ability to do it) would have to dis-assemble the BMW EGS CAN frames and then protocol to understand what we were turning the analogue signals into. Then cross your fingers that all of the sensors and calculated values are in range for the receiver to accept it. This doesn't count for f**k ups that would require a s**t ton of road testing to get everything in alignment. I would then also say it would only be 70%. As Michael said .. getting it all wired up and working is one thing.... mapping it all properly is where the time is. The way car manufactures get it mapped out is by attaching a mother ton of extra sensors that capture any variance .. they then use that data to to 'smooth out' or in fill the gaps. That gets most of the heavy lifting done as far as tuning it, then the rest is tweaking.

1 pointMany thanks for the warm welcome and comments, appreciated. I'll get a few photos up of the M5 and some background when life gets back to normal. In the meantime......

1 pointAftermarket trans controllers are pretty fiddly. You need to custom tune all the shift points from 0-100% throttle in all the gears, as well as set the line & accumulator pressure to the clutch packs & brake bands which took quite a lot of test drives to achieve in my E36 setup. Even then it was somewhat jerky due to the lack of previsions to fine tune the shift sequence like a factory ECU can offer. A very niche market thing too in NZ so find it unlikely any service person would help. Summary = manual gearbox ftw.

1 pointI got an ACS rep from eBay for under $100 painted including shipping. Fitment was good but a bit of a PITA to stick properly to the glass. Ended out using Sikaflex.

1 pointI use to work for a sound shop it botany a few years ago, so let me know if you need a hand with a custom box. We use to use the upper battery trim cover to build a custom box that looked factor and gave a decent sound note. Then ran the wiring to the amp mounted on the other side where the factory amp sits.

1 pointYep, no idea why the Japs don't think to put oil/coolant check lights in - they are a saviour. The gauge is as good as useless in this situation (unless you catch it on its mommontary rise before dropping off) Ironically the same hose I had blow, it caught me out big time as it had only been off a couple of weeks before & I judged it as good condition - looked/felt perfect, it was infact rotton as it proved. Bear in mind most of these hoses are 20+ yrs old now. Have just replaced every coolant hose with new.

1 pointHave steam cleaned/water blasted many engines/bays of all models over the years without issue, except for water ingress into distributors - an easy fix. A little bit of common sense is all that is required...

1 pointOne part dynamo laundry wash to two parts warm water in squirt bottle. Spray on , leave for 5 mins and rinse off with water. Finish with brake cleaner. I use on my motorcycle frame , wheels and swing arm. Works more effectively than a lot of degreaser products.

1 pointAre you really surprised? You are trying to sell a high value vehicle and can't even be bothered to put up a photo of car. As a member of the forum you have made a grand total of 8 posts, so no-one knows you from a bar of soap. Without any further details price looks to be well above the market value for a UK import. Don't be upset if people aren't queuing up to throw 65k your way.
