Ok... so got a lil bit carried away with the facelift theme and replaced the cumbersome 4:3 monitor This has got to be the most pointless option you can order for an e39. A boot fully trimmed in Alcantara. Gave it a good brush and vacum anyways.

bit like how 3pedals is known on most occasions to be a negative nancy. Nobody likes a negative nancy. That's why there's only one of him.

Taken out of context... this is an interesting quote.

Hey Team, I want to swap my 4:3 headunit to an aftermarket one (screen has lines, No Radio, Want handsfree etc). Problem comes as there is no adapter for the 2xskinny plugs and i don't like hacking into the harness so i was thinking if i get a stereo harness from a wrecker with the big square plug (the one they do make an adapter for) could i run this through the car and it hook up to factory amp etc and appear factory and work with my aftermarket headunit. HELP ME PLEASE

Can't you just appreciate it for what it is? The thing is 25 years old so will have some limitations due to modern technology being able to improve on it. But if you drive it within those limitations, you can still enjoy and have fun with it.

It's come a long way from Hokitika days! Looks great - a cosy place to be. Great work.

You werent an active buyer anyway Ron, so no one cares.

Not to be picky Ron but I do know my X5's. The pre facelift E53's are 135kw and 410nm torque curves are different, but also, another reason the facelift ones went better than the older 3.0d was because of the 6 speed gearbox. Also, the prefacelift 4.6is came with factory 20" wheels and 315's on the rear as standard and sport suspension settings as standard, self leveling suspension as standard, I'm pretty sure all that was optional across the rest of the range. My old 4.6is would do 10/100km on the open road as mentioned above - and as I said above (current fuel prices) fuel here for premium is under $2 bucks a litre. I also had two E53 facelift 3.0d and both were remapped, I'm well aware of their performance. But what you're suggesting is that a remapped facelift 3.0d will be quicker than a 4.6is??? A factory facelift 3.0d 0-100 claimed is 8.6 seconds with a top speed of 210kph. Factory 4.6is is 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 240kph, even remapping it adding another 100 or so newton meters isn't going to close that gap by more than two seconds. As I said, I'm just looking for a weekend toy. I'm not spending 25k on a 3.0d facelifted one - the 135kw one is not an option. The aero kit/sound/wheels on the X5 above is perfect for a weekend toy. There isn't a lot around for the money that would touch the looks and sound and performance of this X5.

Martin (BreakMyWindow) helped me swap the DK motors for a spare pair of refurb'd ones I had. We turned a 30-45 minute job into an hour and a half job by both breaking the old, hardened vac hoses into the throttle body. Unfortunately, I was totally unprepared and hadn't purchased any spare hose. Luckily they we managed to stretch what was left (just). Tested last night and wow, what a difference. Way better throttle response and less jerky when throttling on and off. Feels faster - but that might be placebo. Looking forward to a longer drive at the weekend. Pleasantly surprised the new ones didn't need syncing either.

Here's a little Teaser Also had quite a few dilemma's with the wheels. My painter discovered they have been repainted several times since being manufactured in 2003 and one previous painter had painted over some brake dust which seemed to underly below the surface. Long story short I ended up getting them soda blasted at CPR Birkenhead by my old mate Matt Brook who is the man

Tom, you don't need to know cars around here, you simply make hatter negative comments and pooh pooh what someone is asking for their car before going on to make negative comments on the car and generally wrecking the thread. Welcome to BS, let us tell you why you are wrong and we are experts. This looks to me a mint car for the money, in the Hero colour, the E36 is appreciating, if looked after this car will not depreciate. Again, good luck with the sale M3Dakar

Glad you like the Dension , IMO they are the best of the single box Iphone / USB integration solutions for factory intergration. Subwoofer amp wise if your not into payment pounding then a small form factor class D AMP would give plenty of mounting options. No doubt something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRECISION-POWER-PPI-A900-1-ATOM-900W-MAX-SPEAKERS-AMP-MOTORCYCLE-MINI-AMPLIFIER-/121378222210?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item1c42b4b082&vxp=mtr it could mount next to the factory amp. It's good for 350 rms into a 4 ohm load which is plenty. In terms of enclosure work out how much room (enclosure volume ) you have and that will help select what subwoofer options you have. Let us know on room and we can suggest some options. Alternatively a small IB setup via your ski hatch will yield excellent results. You'll get the jist from http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=473030 I went a bit further , but can vouch for ski hatch style installs. Give excellent rattle free bass results and helps avoid boot lid rattle. You don't need as much power
