2 pointsSo, as some of you already know (through my coffee meet chats) I had a Mercedes E class for quite some time and it finally sold this week. Unfortunately I wasn't able to surprise everyone at the meet today but I just picked up an E36 328i Coupe M Sport and thus I am finally back into a BMW where I belong. Its quite rough as it is, but the plan is to tidy it up as much as I can and keep it as a daily driver! Stay tuned! - engine oil and filter change - some basic paint touch ups and bodywork - clean and refit door cards - replace door handle rubber seal - replace headunit and wire up a aux line - install armrest - smoked side indicators - clear or smoked rear lights - paint black kidney grills - apply sunstike tint to top of front windscreen - replace gearknob with the newer round shape - repair left front guard - repaint rear bumper - replace all four tyres with some proper ones soon - replace all speakers - replace key fob batteries and reprogram the central locking - spoiler delete and replace with a lip spoiler - replace front windscreen rubber seal - retrim rear parcel tray from faded grey to black - tint rear windscreen - wheel alignment and balancing - check all suspension components and bushings - front lip - trans fluid change - manual conversion

1 pointComing home from picking up some tea and had this happen , took me a few seconds of the on coming lights to realise they were on my side of the road and what was going on, gave me a bit of a scare. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tmt_9Rx_skg&feature=youtu.be

1 pointLuving that interior color. And having an E91 335i MSport, E39 530i MSport & E30 325i MSport up the drive is only a problem to those who are envious. Like ME!

1 pointgod damn i was gunna post before but didnt coz i cant pick up lol. my cabby needs to get the new sony out of it, looks ugly

1 pointLol @ $500. $5k should get you something sweet. At least maintained to a reasonable standard, tidy interior with minor flaws, maybe a pocket of headlining coming unstuck. Tidy body with regular stone-chipping up front, otherwise pretty straight and square. I actually picked mine up for $2.5K and it's a $5k car. A year later and it needs work though. Definitely needs some new bushings up front and back. Clearcoat has failed impressively on the boot lid and bonnet is going too, headlining needs work. I Park it on the street though and use it daily. I imagine I'll sink $2K a year into it replacing/maintaining stuff. $500 will get me some e31 control arms and maybe some powerflex subframe bushings if I'm lucky and shop around.

1 pointNice. Welcome back to the BMW. Looking forward to seeing pics.

1 pointHaha mike, I kind of knew I would be getting this today but wasnt 100% until i saw it and drove it. The chat did help confirm my initial thoughts. I still quite like the E36 looks wise and its just a great cheap runabout car with plenty of hands on work that can be done. Looking forward to it. I will still keep my eyes open for a nice E46 330ci but thats another story

1 pointNo won't be able to get the plate. Glad it was just me in the car and not the missus as well or I would have been deaf in one ear from the scream.

1 pointNeighbours got a e34 540i he wants to sell. Flaking paint and sent on front drivers fender above light. Besides that it's in original spec with original BMW wheels. Only issue is lapsed rego. Still got a warrant, and then when he took it for rego they said he couldn't... Can get pics and more details if anyone interested. His thinking $1600. Oh, it starts and runs... Any advise from you guys on price would also be appreciated... Thanks...

1 pointLots of aftermarket kits for e34s. If you compress check with a proper spring fabricator as results can be mixed. It's also illegal without a cert. in most cases a custom spring will be best but I am compressing my rear springs as the e31 options are limited. Only a small change (less than 20mm). More than that can adversely affect performance. That said, OE bimmer springs are v. good and minor compression can sometimes yield better results than aftermarket springs. Do your research and check with your certifier!!
-
1 pointDepends how much lower you want to go. H&R do two spring kits suitable for a 525i - p/n 29672-1 and 60672-1.

1 pointColin if it is anything like the one on the E46 welcome. Once you have removed one bet the next one is a whole lot easier chuckle, chuckle

1 pointThe anticipation is killing me. Really want to see this with color on it. I can only imagine how impatient your feeling.

1 pointYour comments are all very generous fellas but after having seen Boris' cars over the years I can't believe mine is comparable to this. Having said that, it wouldn't take much coin to bring it to close and certainly a lot less than the $16k price difference. However, after having been dicked about by TM tyre-kickers mine is back in the garage. It's just too good a car to let go. I've done nearly 4000 klms in it over the last six weeks. It's been absolutely faultless, is still great fun over the Paekakariki Hill and still turns heads. What could I possibly buy to replace it ? [e] Whether this car is worth $25k or not I don't know. But if I was asking that sort of money I would be taking some decent photos. These are shocking.

1 pointAn LSD... drive it before making judgment... an auto 525i will be lucky to get one wheel going in the ice. If its NZ new it probably has an LSD anyway. Happy to be corrected.

1 pointCollected my new wheels yesterday 2mths after ordering - happy days! VMR 710 in hyper silver with Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2's. Will fit them Saturday morning hoping that the sun is shining so I can go for a bit of a cruise afterwards! Is there a break-in period with new tyres that I should be aware of?
