6 pointsThat was a rude answer yes , but to be fair - it was a fkn dumb question and you would have got a similar answer from me. It's like asking some one selling a wrecked car shell if they would throw in the engine, gearbox and wheels because you would find them much more useful in your endeavour to repair the car and get it back to its former glory. It is what it is.

4 pointsbloody litterbugs. Why do people find it so difficult to take the sh*t home and put it in the bin there instead of just tossing it out the window.Ussually Macdonalds bags or Plastic drink bottles. Now that i travel every back road i can find,i was astounded to find at the top of Strathmore Saddle on SH43 a whole lot of litter only a few metres from a rubbish bin!

3 pointsSuspension's finally complete. All new front and rear. Sport shocks, csi bump stops and rear reinforcement plates and Eibach springs. What a difference! The old girl feels like new, so much grip in the corners. She's pretty low so the ride's a bit harsher than the floaty EDC but not much different to the mtech II suspension in my old E39 540i. She earned herself some new rubber on the fronts too. Resulting issues... Not sure I'll be able to navigate my steep drive if I fit my csi front spoiler... Too much low!! And on the odd hard bump thanks to our crappy roads, I get a bong like a check engine. Happened prior to overhaul too. No light so possibly just a loose electrical connection. Any ideas?

2 pointsPulled the seat out and opened up the little gearbox. One of the plastic cogs had a crack in it so wouldnt turn the main gear. There were two sets of these in the gearbox so i switched it over. Now i regained the tilting movement and moving front and back works too. Lost the ability to move rhe seat up and down but no biggie. Also some pics of the retrimmed headliner and properly attached door cards Yay!

2 pointsThe plans for a car for Miss M continue to be developed. Her latest idea? A Porsche 924. Handles well and in 2.0 guise, doesn't have too much power for a new driver. She's planning ahead, y'see - in 30 years time she wants to be able to say she learned to drive in a Porsche, and never drove anything else.

1 pointStill there, need the 19s on the Merc just to keep up. LolFact is the bimmer smokes the Merc so much it occasionally feels negleted and needs some love

1 pointI know the original owner of this car here in Singapore. One of only 3 E39 M5's sold in Singa's. The original owner is a very successful watch dealer who purchased this car in his mid 20's. Now moved onto high-end Italian exotics. Still misses his M5 dearly though. According to him, another example was shipped to NZ too.

1 pointI lived and drove in LHD countries for three years, with only a month in an RHD country in that time. I *never* drove on the left in a left hand drive country, and *never* drove on the right on return to Australasia. The only challenge I had was in car-parks; for the first year, I naturally turned to the left to avoid cars heading toward me. furthermore, when I lived in UK and drove in France, Spain, or back in the USA, I had no issues driving on the correct side of the road, no matter if I was driving a RHD or LHD vehicle. One simply needs to *think*. I think it's simply brain laziness - or being accustomed to not being switched on when driving (eg disengaging 50% of concentration behind the wheel), as the significant contributing factor to driving on wrong side of road.

1 pointthey will be, and can be certed, but they are a very poor design. basically they lower the vehicle by decreasing the spring rate, the exact opposite of what you want with a lowered car. they are strictly for looks only. cert is $500ish regardless of what coilovers you use, so you might as well put some good ones in there watch the Mighty Car Mods episode on the VW Golf they built they explain them all there. I run fully XYZ adjustable coilovers in the Touring and very pleased with them. they ranked well in reviews, above BC etc, i took the plunge at lucky it paid off. PM David Collier thru BMW/ECC Page, he imports Yellowspeed which are made in the same factory as XYZ just remarketed.

1 pointGraham, great progress. Agreed, those style 73s look dead classy - especially they're now all cleaned up. I should've bought them from you when they were for sale! Still, wasn't in a position to then, or now even. keep rackin' up those miles! best regards from the windy city.

1 pointThis one is remaining in stealth mode. Tweaking all of the hidden options available. Coded in M-track mode today. It`s controlled entirely through the DSC button. Single press = m-track. Press + hold = DSC off.

1 pointFinally resolved. Got INPA running on my laptop, plugged in and checked out the important things: Fuel long term trims were quite high. When running cold / warming up, the ECU was having to dump in quite a large enrichment correction and was running out of adjustment triggering my check engine light. When hot, the ECU was able to compensate. There must be a point when the warmup enrichment has tapered off and the ECU has less room to compensate, causing the problem to only show up at a narrow temperature range. So i checked for vacuum leaks, thought about replacing the CSC valve thing on the back of the manifold....but that looked hard. I eventually kept a good watch on all of the parameters in INPA as the car warmed up a few times and noticed intake air temp was wrong at low air flows. It was showing 40degrees C on a cold engine that hadnt been run that day! Off idle, the air temp would drop to something like 24 but thats still a big jump from the 15 outside. Idle air requirements didnt seem to vary much with A/C or power steering loads...so that was odd. Took a chance and replaced the airflow meter. Didnt want to pay the big tax for a BMW or Range Rover one so ended up slamming in the Volkswagen one. Works great! The internet was right, its a brilliant low cost alternative. $170 compared to $800 for a BMW one or $500ish for a Range Rover one. The car is now running awesome, it drives better even tho i didnt notice anything wrong with the performance. Shifts are smoother and pulling away from intersections is crisper. Idle quality is still only a 9/10 but I'm very picky. Perhaps there is something else going wrong but I'll keep an eye on things and see how we go for now.

1 pointIf they were on an E39 without hub rings they'll need adapters to fit an e38. Cheap but the E38 needs staggered with at least 9s at the back IMO.

1 pointI spose if I had a Mrs who was not interested in vehicles I would get her something beige like a Corolla or swift etc.. I would struggle to care about a car like that at all though.

1 pointYou learn pretty quick on a bike, look where you want to go. Half way through a overcooked corner and if you're looking at the side of the road thinking you're running out of room and not looking through the corner you'll be skidding along on your ass. Sent from my SM-G360G using Tapatalk

1 pointPeople that spit on the footpath for no apparent reason. This doesn't include sports players etc that have a sh*t load of spit. But people that insist on walking down the street and spit like the filthy animals that they are. There seems to be a demographic for them but let's not go there.

1 pointI can't stand them. Though most of my hatred for them comes from the crap race series they had. A modern much more powerful car that was only slightly quicker than a 318i E30. Driven exclusively by cocky "Up and Comers". Taking up a huge amount of track time for only 6 cars that sound and look like sh*t. No passing would take place. Yep that is why I hate them. Plus they are always driven by boring women trying to hang onto their younger days by buying a "sporty" fashion accessory car. Though these women are outnumbered by Mazda 3 and 6 drivers who purchased them for the same reason.

1 pointSuch a mint turn around on that engine bay dude! Well done. So keen to buy a project E30 once I have the E36 all up to my preferred maintenance level.
-
1 pointyou have a very long shopping list, ya still looking to buy the parts we have been discussing too?
-
1 pointSure can Dave, price is as above and I'll even throw in four wheels, valves and centre caps with free delivery since you're in Auckland. +1. Or you could buy these for your track wheels - 17" for the track and 18" for the street...

1 pointI could see no such problem when houses were affordable five years ago. First home buyers wanted the new VW Golf, Hyundai shitbox SUV, latest iPhone/pad/mac with their first home in Parnell Ponsonby, Howick, Takapuna, Devonport etc. They wanted what they moved out of (their parents home) as a result of 30 years of working, saving and climbing up the property ladder. So of course their ideal first house, and everything that comes with it, was out of reach. Prioritising, a foreign concept. Most average suburbs were attainable a few years ago to the normal Kiwi or first home buyer. I suppose an average house in a not so desirable area (most of West, Glenfield, Pakuranga etc (imo)) is still possible on two average incomes but most of that joint income will be servicing the mortgage, that is if they can save enough for the deposit in the first place. I am over reading and hearing about this housing/pricing crisis in Auckland, and how hard it is to 'live' in NZ, most rabid hysterical leftists having a stab at the govt. or anyone with wealth/assets behind them at any opportunity they get. Pack ya sh*t and f. off to another country and see how green the grass is. FFS if ya can't afford a $600k dump on a small section in Auckland look elsewhere. BOP, Waikato, Malborough Canterbury etc. Hamilton and Tauranga, and close surrounds, will benefit greatly from this drama going on in Auckland over the next 5 or so years. A lot of Aucklanders priced out of the market, or cashing in, are already moving south. I suppose when the rest of them see what a higher quality of life, and better value for money is on offer then the domino effect will really start.

1 pointI think the extra track width helps the front end a lot. It's always had a really sharp front on it, even with the six it was more an oversteerer than a sledger. Plenty of power down oversteer in third now ha. Only sticking point with the V8 conversion is getting a box for it. Otherwise it's a bargain really.

1 pointstarted my v8 e30 back in sept 2009, still beavering away at it... time flies when you are having fun.. must do skids with you sometime
