6 pointsbluetooth signal over 100 feet = approx 30 metres. If you can't see your car from 30 metres away then a tile won't help much surely..?

6 pointsI have dogs. I love my dogs. Im not going to eat them. But. An animal is an animal, and if a culture eats dog meat, and that is what they have always done, who am I to question it. Some cultures do not have cheap factory farmed meat available. Most will consume in a month what we do in one sitting. We live in a country where most of the meat we eat is factory farmed, we just turn a blind eye to it. We also consume an unbelievable amount of meat, way more that what we need too. I say watch this and decide if the meat you currently eat comes from animals that have been treated ethically or humanly before passing judgment on other cultures. And maybe ask if what we do is any better than other cultures. I am not a vegan/vegetarian either, I am conscious of what I eat though.

4 pointsIt's all well and good to complain about something thats going on in another country on the other side of the world. Yet generaly the people who are signing these petitions or starting them are still buying good ole Farmer Brown eggs because they're $3 cheaper than Free Range or buying that yummy Pork thats on special without a thought to how these are farmed in our own back yards. As to the capturing of pets. How do you know a dog is a pet when it has no collar and is left to wander around the village at free will and basically has to fend for itself. What defines a animal thats left to free range as a pet? Sorry, but these kind of petitions serve no purpose except to make the people who sign it feel good about themselves for a moment. The Chinese Government has absolutely no regard for what you or I think and they're most certainly not going to take any notice of a petitions signed by a bunch of foreigners. Why would they? They have no regard for what their own citizens think! If you want my signature start a petition to completely stop Battery Farming Chickens or one to stop the factory farming of Pigs in New Zealand. Lets clean up our own backyard before we start pissing in someone elses.
-
4 pointsPetitioning the Chinese?? LOL Sorry dog lover here, but that's going to have zero effect whatsoever. The only way you'll stop Chinese from eating sh*t is if there's a disease that result from it and people start dying. But then again that'll only last as long as the next wave.

2 pointsThey boost really hight.. then catch fire! haha Mk4 has got to be the lamest GTI of them all IMHO, could have been much better with some red stripes and a 2.0T. You can't say that. RWD is best. It has to be RWD, even an Automatic open diff luxo barge is better because its RWD. FWD's can not be fun because most people are drifters and prefer to initiate every corner... when I drive a RWD its sideways everywhere, even at traffic lights I just sit there and swig O's. Also. https://youtu.be/N2IWxqvsSY8

2 pointsPretty sure ACS didn't make any cars with a 1.8 litre engine and automatic box. Could possibly be dealer fitted Schnitzer dress-up bits added to the car, or transplanted later in its life though? Unless it is a really, really rare and obscure ACS then getting rid of the auto and adding some more power will only increase it's value.

2 pointsWell I'm glad i've sparked a debate. The point here is humane treatment of animals. We don't boil up sheep alive. Hell I don't even do that to crayfish. Animals that we have domesticated to be reliant on us are different and should be treated as so. All animals deserve to be treated with respect no matter if they were bred with your dinner plate in mind or as a companion. How it's reported they are treating these animals I wouldn't wish on any living thing. And it needs to stop.

2 pointsThe car has been at BM Workshop all week getting full check over with regular service items as well as spark plugs replaced. Have also had a walnut blasting job done on the intakes (Which were very dirty for 70,000kms!) so looking forward to see if I can feel the difference. Even if I can't, it provides a bit of piece of mind know things can operate a bit cleaner! Will post the after pics tomorrow after I pick her up to show the difference. Should be all ready for a tune now

1 pointNope. I was just swearing at the old people and thankful we were in an awesome car. Anyone who doesn't see merit should do a BMW driver day or similar. It's a great way to learn how much cleverer the car is than you. In one of the tests you race up to about 120kph and swerve aggressively around some cones through standing water. This is a great way to learn how advanced the systems are. It's a simulation of say a cow running out in front of you on an open road in the wet. Recommended. Also. I am a rally driver used to very dangerous speeds in unpredictable roads. And I am still man enough to admit their worth and learned a thing or two about ABS and Stability control. 1 pointI have no doubt that if the driver of that car had it switched off he would have crashed. Fair call on the limits thing, I am guilty of getting complacent at times. It saved me a few weeks back from a certain write off and possibly massive injury. It was 6.30am on my way to a rally and I was driving a bit to fast around a corner over a shaded brow that was very slippery, the car drifted wide off the road, miraculously the car reacted a lot faster than I could have braking individual wheels whilst I steered it back onto the road, narrowly avoiding a concrete power pole and a huge drop off. I like to think I am a reasonable driver, yet I was very thankful for the technology that morning, it is simply amazing how fast it can react, there is no way the car would have got back on the road without it. Another time my ex wife was driving us when an elderly couple pulled out rite in front of us in a 100 zone open road, very similar to the above video, she simply swerved out and went around them, no drama, the elderly couple probably shat themselves... I nearly did. No way we could have done that without stability control. Stability control is much like ABS brakes, there was time when people pooh poohed ABS too stating that its only there for people who can't drive... To me, any passive safety technology is massively worthwhile.

1 pointbeen out driving mine again tonight, runs like bloody clockwork. Love it. Im a bimmer fan for way back, but damn these golfs are a lot of fun for the money.

1 pointShe's a good driver, too. Significantly quicker than any of the (previous) TG team and about 10th fastest ever 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car'. Remember the lap? JC told her she was 0.3s faster than Jay Kay... Pissed Jay Kay off no end - he asked for another go but was turned down. And she drives a Maserati. Which makes her all right in my book.
-
1 pointBut why was he going so fast on such a B road where that is likely to happen?

1 pointExactly right. Killing of animals in a HUMANE fashion. It may just be media BS but I read that they also nick peoples dogs (pets) for this festival?

1 pointAs a pet. Yes. But they are not pets, they are meat, no different than a cow or a pig. I have seen dog farms in Asia first hand BTW. I just think its a bit hypocritical to pass judgment as a meat eater. I also think its very easy to sit back in New Zealand and comment without understanding, seeing or experiencing how other cultures work. Drive though most parts of South East Asia and see how many farms you see.. they don't have an abundance of meat walking around.
-
1 pointI hold a similar view. I have no problem with people eating dog, or any other animal. But for f**ks sake, treat the damn animal responsibly and humanely. It's not hard. My partner and I eat very little meat ( our 1-year old daughter has it most nights however ) for various reasons, but what meat we do eat, always comes from producers who farm responsibly and ethically.

1 pointpeople who ask on trademe "whats your reason for selling?" firstly, its none of your business why im selling it secondly, what do you expect to hear? "im selling it because theres a problem with it but im trying to rip you off so ill just say i got it as a gift so no warranty implied" i mean if you ask anyone that, they will say because i dont need it anymore, upgraded, etc etc how does that help in your decision making in making the purchase? i dont get it..

1 pointI'm confused. Are you in South Auckland or Iran? I took my car off the market after 3 idiots wasted hours and hours of my time having a 28 year old car checked for problems. Then picking at everything I had already told them about, and then trying to offer me over a 3rd less than what I was asking after already dropping the price for them. I find with these sort of cars you need to just keep the sale on the down low. Avoid trademe at all costs.

1 pointDon't get me wrong, I am normally the guy selling the car at 100,000km, and buyers car be a pain in the arse. I literally told one guy to f**k off out of my garage and go to the nearest "new car" dealership if he wants a brand new car after he started pointing out small blemishes on a car that was 4 years old and one third the cost of a new one. Its like hear you go, have my car I have lost $40,000 and cleaned every weekend for the past 4 years, I am sorry I didn't save it for you, perhaps I shouldn't have driven it and brought some seat covers for the times I just sat in and had a cry wank waiting to sell it to you for next to nothing... oh, and BTW, yes, I did do its 100,000km cam belt service for you, that cost me $2,400... can I throw in a box of beer and a reach around, maybe I could service your less than satisfied looking wife while we are at it. So im not being a pedantic buyer, its just frustrating dealing with a lot of these "second owners" who are trying to fob off sh*t they have not spent a dollar on other than some M badges and fake carbon fibre. Oh. Did I mention I am looking at a carrier in car sales?? Can I interest you in a mocha-chino sir?

1 pointI've been looking for suspension for my Merc. I can buy a set of Koni Str.T shocks and H&R springs, shipped from Germany, tax paid, for less than a local supplier can buy them in. The issue is economy of scale. Dealers here will buy from wholesalers in Germany or the US. If we want something even slightly unusual, it'll be a special order, possibly part of a $10k order placed every 2 or 3 months. There are wholesalers in Europe and the US buying up to $100k of parts per week... The discounts go to the big buyers, not to us in NZ. I'm very seriously considering this. KW shocks, Vogtland springs. Good kit but not something I'd considered (being bred on a diet of Koni, Bilstein, Leda and so on). Price is agreeable and being supplied locally, any issues are dealt with locally.

1 pointBuy a set of e30 Lemforder ball joints and get them pressed into your suspension arms. They are a far better design than the e36 ones as they do not have the rubber dampening bit that collapses as yours have and allow play in the suspension. P/N is LEM-1051903. While you are about it, replace the 'lollipop' bushes with the offset e30 M3 ones, P/N LEM-1056001. These make a decent change to steering responsiveness. While you have the arms off, check the inner ball joints and replace them if they show any wear. part number LEM-1051802. Replace the front ARB drop links with the rear drop links from a 2000-2007 Ford Mondeo Estate. These units are rose-jointed, giving a firmer, stronger hold over your anti-roll bar. Much better than the BMW ones. They are available from Lemforder, part number is LMI 2581102.
