Even though I haven't lived in NZ for a few years, and haven't owned a BMW for the same length of time, it was great to catch up with one of the other original Bimmersporters in San Francisco. Here is a photo of Ollie and me at the top of Twin Peaks in San Francisco. This ordinarily gives a great view of the city from the top of a hill, but unfortunately the fog rolled in and we saw a sea of white (the second photo shows what the view is actually like on a good day).

I notice that many are fine with the errors made. I have 365 days in most years and have quite a few things to do every day. Lets say 5 things a day for a total of 1825 things to do. If I don't relicence my car that's only 0.0547945% of all the things I have to do. So if my error rate is so low why do they fine me. My error factor is way lower than theirs.

That touring will have far more rust than just surface rust. There is no such thing as surface rust with an e30 these days, especially spots 1,2 and 3 they are very common spots to rust right through. If you can see it on the surface it's too late. If you plan on looking at it, check under the battery tray, and down the firewall under the tray. I'm guessing it has spent alot of it's life outside. Also "second hand tyres"... shows how well and how willing the owner is for maintanence.

Like I said. Not safe ... yet I pay $68. Mine has a Ford Transit engine (they all have since about 2008), so its underpowered and semi-reliable rather than underpowered and unreliable. Plus looking a 6-7 year old ones for sale (and guessing what they'll sell for, not asking price), I am on track for sub 10% depreciation from new. Find me another vehicle that does that, seats 7, manual gearbox and leaks in heavy rain.

Im not so sure. It specifically specifies Polyurethane in its example, its dubious whether they would consider aluminium as an "appropriate material". Either way, as mentioned, its unlikely anyone would notice or care.

12.25 years in the E39 I'd normally change it, just to be safe, but I'm really keen to see how long it goes for! Plus manual means I can probably roll start it if required

I take it you are referring to the older E82 / E88 1-series models, not the newer F20 M135i? Both the 135i Coupe and Convertible were specced with an auto as standard, if you term the DCT as an auto, so the vast majority of the cars officially brought in and sold NZ new are autos. A quick search shows that there were 5 coupes brought in as manual, but no convertibles.

That's about 70% of the population though... I think they actually have NO IDEA what's going on around them, or what they are doing.

Very true. Yet it still feels fast and slightly dangerous. Because I am on safari. In Mt Eden.

This one beats all of the above. No douchey black grilles, no silly stance / camber, balanced ride height, classic wheel styles not pasta drainers = win.
