3 pointsEven though I haven't lived in NZ for a few years, and haven't owned a BMW for the same length of time, it was great to catch up with one of the other original Bimmersporters in San Francisco. Here is a photo of Ollie and me at the top of Twin Peaks in San Francisco. This ordinarily gives a great view of the city from the top of a hill, but unfortunately the fog rolled in and we saw a sea of white (the second photo shows what the view is actually like on a good day).

2 pointsPeople who slam the bloody brakes on because they see a cop car or speed camera van... ...even though they aren't going over 100kph anyway. This zero tolerance bullshit is doing nothing to improve the piss poor driving standards in NZ!!

1 pointNoooo the mudflaps and towbar must remain! This would make the coolest tow vehicle ever for a rally car. Or race car. Or really any trailer.

1 pointLs conversion is pretty popular plus you can buy pretty much everything needed for a drop, not a bad thing

1 pointinsurance might throw their toys, best ask them first. technically its a VERY modified 528i in their eyes. You would also be well exceeding their book value for a 528i.

1 pointThanks for the timely bump Dave. These sold today - have to admit I was still a little reluctant to let them go as I doubt I'll ever find a set as nice again, but at least they've gone to a good home. Good luck with your search for the centre cap.

1 pointLS1 would be a better swap candidate in my books. V8 340 hp / 350 ft/lb vs. V12 320hp, 360 ft/lb. Being an iron block I'd imagine the V12 to be far heavier over the nose than the LS, plus the V8 requires minimal mods to the subframe. From memory the LS is about the same weight as an iron M50. Better power to weight ratio, massive amount of aftermarket go faster bits for the LS as opposed to none for the M72, far easier conversion as you'll actually have a bit of room around the V8 and the LS is physically a tiny wee engine given capacity and output. Probably fewer if any suspension changes with the LS too, I hate to think what you'd need to counter the M73 with. Brakes will need changing with both conversions. On the other hand, the M73 would have the wow factor for the purists. Cheaper initial costs but i reckon long term the V8 would be more cost effective. Just my ten cents

1 pointYah, I'm pushing my luck getting stuck into this with baby #2 getting closer as it is! But the GSR would bring back a LOT of fond teenage memories......... The missus would kill me, the missus would kill me, the missus would kill me, the missus would kill me..................

1 pointI'll mull it over for a few days and see whether I'm still keen. Any info anyone could share so I'm as informed as possible would be highly appreciated. I'd say a V12 E36 coupe with half decent brakes and suspension would be awesome to drive. Even as an automatic.

1 pointNegative Ghostrider, everyone will think I've got Apex wheels if I run them without caps. I had absolutely no interest from buyers (Like Mpulsive) when I sold them. I guess people are keener on knock off made in Taiwan shite than legitimate brand new in box with valves and nuts BBS wheels. I've never seen a minter set of second-hand wheels, which is why I bought them back!

1 pointWhat I saw in that video was why the English are leaving their own country in droves. Is good for NZ though. Welcome.

1 pointI am not embarrassed at all. Not sure why you think BMW owners will or should be. Just because a couple of morons do something silly why does that embarrass other people with the same brand of car.

1 pointThat's about 70% of the population though... I think they actually have NO IDEA what's going on around them, or what they are doing.
-
1 pointReliable as, just needs oil changes every 5000km, love an attention, a few kind words, 98 Pump gas, your first born child, your wallet, credit card, your wife, your mum, your hot sister, warmed up before thrashing, cooled down after thrashing, then it'll probably still need a new Turbo.
-
1 pointAnyways, not to worry for you, you are still 3 years off registering your E30
