7 pointsJust home from dinner at a friends where a couple of modern hippies where taking everyone to task over the cars we choose to drive. Had a small smile on my face when they asked what type of car I drove there. "A BMW V12" was my response and the hippes where none to happy about that and began grilling me about my excessive use of fossil fuel. I placated them by explaining that my other car has a smaller engine and I dont actually drive the V12 that much. "So whats your other car" they asked. And I proudly announced it was a BMW V8 with a huge smile on my face.. ha ha I got the feeling they thought I was taking the piss out of them. Kinda was. lol I did like the look on their faces when the V8 came out.. Bloody do gooders.

2 pointsIf your car is a genuine 2001 motorsport it will have Msport II suspension. Best way to find part numbers is check against your VIN on realoem.com If you're looking for a drop then you'll have to go aftermarket. Personally, I think Msport II is perfect height on the E39.

1 pointThanks for you input, yea I will definetly have to have a closer look at everything and test drive when the time comes. Out of interest what does a basic mechaincal warranty cost per year, have never bought one before. Is autosure the main one?

1 point^ Such people annoy the sheet out of me to be frank. An individual such as yourself driving a V12 car or not makes literally no difference in the grand scheme of things. While China, Russia, India, particularly and America etc are massive producers of various forms of poorly regulated emissions every day on an idustrial scale, this kind of attack on a relatively clean burning modern car is just absurd. More than anything it's an attack on driving a BMW car because of such imagery associated to that brand.

1 pointLicence disc says 1995 model, so something not quite right there. Apart from that, it looks like a money pit!

1 pointEdit: Removed, I was wrong. I thought 135i had a different trans to 335i but researched and found I was wrong. 135i has ZF auto trans like the 335i.

1 pointIt will be fine, its only counting ignition events in a certain amount of time to calculate RPM.

1 pointMmmmm the smell arrrgh... Had a Jport 13b in an RX4 coupe. A big bugger with 51mm IDA. Was a hell of a laugh till it did it's water seals. Sold it for peanuts about 15 years ago. Stupid given current prices, but house deposits etc.

1 pointMy E31's reasonably cheap for a nearly 25 year old car (but not the cheapest) and way cheaper than it used to be. Not many crashes because not many E31s!

1 pointDon't know if we have DCT versions here, DCT is pretty awesome if you can get one. Shifts as fast as you can click those paddles.

1 pointI bought something for nearly $900 through auction and the seller sent me legitimate looking emails and was very nice about it all and i paid the money plus shipping. few days later i get an email from trademe saying that they have reason to believe the seller isnt genuine (he had around 20 or so good feedback but was only since april this year) and asked me if i had received my item. Obviously I didnt, and seller had stopped replying to emails too. Basically trademe said they cant do sh*t and I need to go to the police and lodge a complaint. I didnt bother because something similar had happened before and police didnt do jack. I didnt wana waste any more time and just took it as a lesson to avoid new users (even with positive feedback) and to try to buy local with pick up rather than shipping. That being said, ive bought lots of things through trademe from people all over nz and i think after 500 or so trades, a couple gone wrong is not too bad, despite the largish amount. Its way too easy to make a new account, buy or sell a few things to build up feedback, even getting address verified is easy with fake addresses, and you could list say 10 iphone 6's for $1 res or $500 buy now and you would have $5000 in your account in a week then gap it. what a shame that not all people rely on good will and ethics edit: regarding original post, the seller said he wants to run it as an auction so i said thats fine. all good

1 pointI think ultimately people just don't take Trade Me that seriously. If it was a live auction house with goods sold under the hammer that would be another story!
-
1 pointAs others have said, It's a legally binding contract to buy. However, in this case both parties obviously understand it was a mistake haha. The thing about Trademe that really pisses me off is they sold their soul when they sold the original company. They literally do not care what happens as long as they get their fee and no one is trying to get around that fee. If they don't get their fee or they find you trying to avoid it, may baby jesus have mercy on your soul. I've had numerous purchases that were legitimately purchased for reasonable amounts, only for the seller to sell it to someone else (after the auction has closed). Trademe just reply with a "tough sh*t" generic answer. I've also had a couple of trades where the seller has done a runner with my money and neither the Police or Trademe really care. Bought a gearbox up north a few years back, had the guys address, two of his car rego numbers, workplace etc only for the officer "investigating" it after months of following up with him to cold shoulder me... but that's a whole 'nother box of frogs. Another is the auctions where reserve is met, numerous bidders, only for a couple of days until bidding closes the auction is withdrawn. Trademe gets their withdrawl fee, they don't care. Bought some AMG Aero 3's last month, paid the guy then after weeks of messing around he refunded me my money and gave me some story about how he couldn't sell them anymore... in other words he sold them to someone else. Basically, unless you have loads of money to take them to small claims and a small team of PI's to locate them... TM is just a place that relies on peoples good will and ethics.

1 pointCheers. I don't have either so that a bonus!! I tell ya. Its liberating to think I can go oversea's for an extended period and if I like somewhere I can just stay there. Awesome. Will come back next year and get a job as so I can go racing and buy a house again... maybe out of Auckland though! Hope it crashes soon.

1 pointCome on, that's pretty trivial isn't it? Do you call the toilet a ' white porcelain excrement collector' so you can get a better understanding of what it is so you can model your poo properly in it? Let's get back to talking about learning how to tune.
