Were the owners of the 7/11 making the Bimmer owners feel welcome or was it a coincidence. Also as another coincidence there were 11 7's at the 7/11..

A car I have always wanted. I've had 4 W126s in the past - an Astral Silver II 300SE, A Nautic Blue Brabus 300SE-3.2, a Smoke Silver 560SEC (with Oz rims) and a Blue-black 500SEC. Last week I bought a black 500SE. 1988, ex-Hong Kong (so sadly no cruise control), but it's in pretty good nick. Needs a new thermostat as the engine doesn't come up to temp, a pair of tyres on the front, the drivers seat bolster has worn through, and the surrounds where the seatbelts come through the top of the B-pillar are missing. The odo reset doesn't work (and neither do the dash lights, but same control so probably same problem) and the paint is pretty good unless you look closely. Lots of little scratches and the like. But it doesn't leak anything, there's no rust anywhere, it runs sweet as, and the things that are usually broken, aren't. The electric seat controls are all present and working, and even the centre console wood is perfect. Checking fluids shows oil to not be perfect, but it's obviously been changed in the last 2000km or so, the trans fluid appears to have been changed, and even the PS fluid is the right colour and consistency. Someone has spent some time on servicing. I'm very happy. I initially toyed with the idea of going the AMG-clone route, but have decided not to do that. I'll update the EMS (more power and better economy, although probably not at the same time!), swap the current 15x7 rims for some 16x8/9s (perhaps Lorinser LOs if I can find any), update the suspension and reprogram the gearbox for faster changes. And obviously sort all the little things. It's a great car. I have no plans to spoil it. (This is actually a 300SE, but our 500SE looks pretty much identical.)

You could go to BMworkshop in Grey Lynn and get them to check your wheels on their very expensive and fussy roadforce balancer.

    13. Never heard of a Cadillac Elmiraj!

    10. Most of them were pretty boring cars, or pretty stupid questions. Also they called a mustang a sports car...

Hey guys. I've managed to screw the torque converter in my auto so figure it's time to get that manual I've been craving in. Does anyone know of any gearboxes preferably in the south island? Would still be interested in further north if I can sort out a decent shipping company. The other option would be a parts car with the aforementioned gearbox in it. If anyone knows of anything going let me know! Cheers.

Spoke to the boss about the job, he agreed it was not up to scratch. Turns out one of the guys went on holiday part way through the job and it was finished by someone else... presumably with less skill. Car is going back in next week.... Zzzzzzzzz

If you still have your maf you could write the part number down and see if the pick a part ones match. I know real oem can some times get things wrong (eg giving all e28 drive shafts the same part number)

Hello guys! I'm thinking of selling my beloved E34 540i. Details below, ask if you would like more information. NZ New 190kms Grey leather Electric front seats, memory driver Motorsport bumpers ACS 17" wheels ACS exhaust ACS spoiler M5 mirrors Alpine headunit Full service history Great car, I've owned it coming up two years with many road trips to the Coromandel, Taupo and Hawkes Bay. Boot can fit 3 bags of golf clubs and still overtake with ease when the car is loaded up. Towed our small tin boat with it a couple times too. Performed amazingly. I've recently replaced the drag link, sway bar links and tie rods in the front to fix the infamous 80kph shimmy. Also had her serviced at Jerry Clayton. I am the 5th private owner, previous guy had it for 11 years. Finding it difficult to price so open to offers and discussion but roughly looking for around $7500ono. 021 811 423.

My 560 was gorgeous. Here's a dyno curve from a M117-5.0; I feel power is a bit down on where the euro-spec engines would be, but not enough to worry about. The 5.6 engines would be about 8% higher. Nice torque curve.

I suck. 8 out of 18. The worst one was choosing Commodore when it was a Ford. As a previous Holden owner thats emabarasing. I'm gonna say it's cause I was at work and was rushing it. ha ha

I've reported 2 events to the cops in the last 3 years. One when a guy tried to run me over with his truck, and one after a home break in. On both occasions, the cops couldn't have made more effort! The truck one, the Cop arranged to come to MY house, on Sunday, AFTER Fathers day lunch last year, at a time that suited me - He was making it super easy for me, and I expected it to be what ever suited him. Let the kids play in the car, and turn on the flashing lights and siren, after he radioed in what he was doing. With the break in, they were sympathetic, helpful, sensitive, and answered anything we asked about their procedures and thoughts.. The truck driver was fined, but they never got anyone for the burglary - had $800 of crap stolen from the house (petrol, sausages (!) video camera, etc - nothing big), but about $1800 of damage done getting in!

you would have more luck taking your buyer to small claims court than prising them off John i would say lol.

Already have, Pulled them apart and put them together with new lips. Must have been like 1 hour per wheel, hand tightening all 34, going over with a ratchet, then again with a torque wrench. Anyways enough thread jackin'

Just wait till you have to lock tight and torque them! That's a fun filled evening!

Already talked to SJ, Out of price range I'll lay it out here anyway, If anyone wants them $2900 takes em - Brand new lips, tyres. Just need them gone before I split them and sell in parts (Oh how I f*cking hate undoing 34 x 4 bolts)

It seems the 740 is getting a bit of a make over. Did a bit more today replacing the cracked wood trim in the front doors and center console. Out with the old. In with the new. Pulled this out of the spare parts car. A bit scratched but still in better shape the the original. Sanded to 2000 grit then went looking for my small buffing wheel and couldn't find it so out with the brasso then a fine cutting compund and this was the result.

Stick it in raewyns car, and buy one of those supercharger covers that Hyde was making out of Perspex. No one will know.

silver is such a weird colour. with the right options/bodykit/tidiness it looks absolutely amazing, on the other hand it can look absolutely sh*t. obviously this car is the former.
