4 pointsPeople who think putting thier hazards on automatically exempts them from all road rules and courteous driving/parking

4 pointsPulled the M52B28 and ZF 5 speed out of my 328i Motorsport coupe donor car Deleted the aircon but otherwise leaving engine as is. will leave the clutch and fly wheel upgrades for later down the track. Deleted all the 4 cylinder brackets in the engine bay of the compact, pulled off the front of it to let the M52 through the towers. Deleted the bonnet release on the nose and also on the bonnet it self while i was at it, will be running old school style pins. Put the M52 in the hole, bolted it down, connected power steering lines so they didnt leak any more. had to use the 6 cylinder type lines from the donor car, compact steering rack is unknown condition but will find out soon enough. Put nose back on, and put a M3/318iS type bumper on (not just regular M sport) i had lying around. Still to connect everything up, run battery cable to mount the battery in the cabin some where, swap fuel pumps etc. May put the dash from the coupe into it as well i havent decided yet. At this stage will be keeping it 100% M52 untill the car is running etc just to keep the vairables down, later on will take the manifold off and put an M50 one on i have here, delete the ASC, reroute oil seperator etc. Its a track toy so hence the M50 manifold swap, its a waste of time on a road car. will take some pictures at some stage, but there are some on Euro Car Club page for those that want to look now!

3 pointsI wonder what the cops will dream up to say about the horrible death toll over the weekend and the abject failure of their decision to fine people who travel 4km over posted speed limits. There are so many things that contribute to accidents and doing 4km over the speed limit is likely to be at the bottom of any list. No doubt their spin doctors have their little minds whirring and pens running hot. Fatigue, poor driving regardless of speed they drive at, weather conditions and not driving to those conditions, poor concentration, etc etc all make a big difference yet the cops target the one that gets them revenue. Now why is that.

3 pointsThe cops actually increase the danger by hiding at the end of passing lanes as people will try and pass those drivers doing 85 kmh in other areas.
-
3 pointsAnd when you think about it, if they're spending all weekend pulling Hickory and Dickory for doing +4, there's less eyes watching out for Dock doing +20 through some nice twisties.

3 pointsSadly my car wasn't fitted with the harmon kardon speakers and lacked abit of bass. So i installed this fusion 8" low profile sub. This was the perfect unit for the job, small enough that it wouldn't effect the boot space and would be difficult to see Really happy with the result sounds much better not too much but just enough.

3 pointsSince the BMW series were at Hampton today I took the liberty to have a corner weight done twice. You will see on the below table the E30 actually has a better F/R split, but it doesn't matter as the longer wheel base of the E36 chassis shits on E30 for handling and braking. The 316ti had next to no fuel, so given that the majority of the fuel sits on the right rear side, it should even out the F/R and L/R splits a bit when full. Following the first weigh, I tried a slight adjustment on the front coilvers to see how weight would more around, was quite surprised by the result as I ended up doing the opposite of what was intended. All weights done with driver in car (102KG), without driver the cars were both pretty square. Also worth noting the E36 is full interior minus passenger seat and rear seat backings.

2 pointsCrossing the center line is what it's all about. I see lazy drivers doing it quite often, through blind corners too. Just terrifying. There needs to be massive penalties in place for such, evidence like in car cameras for insurance purposes should stand as a way to prosecute these pricks - given the vehicle following has such fitted. Cops are too few and far between to do anything about it.

2 pointsWent up to Auckland yesterday and gathered a bunch of parts. Having a wagon is really handy. Was a long day (Left at 9AM, and got back around 6PM). Got some sports seats, in not too bad condition Some spare bumpers (just in case) E34 Sump and pickup for the swap, plus a spare oil filter housing (I've not had a good experience previously with these) A spare M52B28 manifold (mine made a nice crack noise while I was pulling the engine out) And a period looking head unit

2 pointsYeah ain't that annoying when they bring this stupid threshold down, everybody is driving 90kmh and riding their brakes at every bend. Can imagine the frustration that adds to some people to pull some risky maneuvers and get past.

1 pointG'day everyone, I just came across this on trademe. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-993156120.htm I am pretty sure this would be a beautiful car to drive. Great investment too!

1 pointWhat about the other end of the speed scale i.e followed a person doing 30 in a 50k area although some flashing lights saw that solved.

1 pointGot a ticket doing 106 last week just north of Kaikora. I don't care about the $$ but could really do without the points on my licence

1 pointMate who had a 550i just got a ticket for 56kph in Johnsonville, the cop said you were in a school zone, my mate said it's 9 o'clock on a Saturday night, who's at school?

1 pointHaven't seen a dual pipe E36 AC Schnitzer / Remus backbox since Micheal sold the one off his coupe years ago, but there is an E39 540i one thats just been listed. I reckon it's too expensive for a nearly 20 year old used part but it's a sellers market I guess. Might be too wide to fit in the E36 but worth a look

1 pointI got a little beepy thing on the bike that let's me know when rozza are around. They've been hiding at the end of passing lanes all weekend, nabbing people trying to pass that a**hole doing 85kph the whole time then speeds up to 100kph soon as there is a passing lane.

1 pointYou would be unwise not to take out a mechanical warranty on your 135i, done 60k, especially if it is an import. Some of what has been previously said is not correct. Give me a call next week if you like. There are good policies & bad
