3 pointsBeen busy not doing much on the car, but been doing lots around the car . So I pulled the m20b23 out of the rusty 323. It's 4speed which is disappointing. T thought it was but now I know . The motor is going down to Hastings to aid duddly get his stroke on. I also sold the motor that I had sitting on the stand, 2.0l iron has been replaced with 2.8 alloy. I have lots of parts that need to be cleaned. And I have always wanted a media blaster. So I have reclaimed some panels that have been left on the road side. Used an old stainless sink and have started. It's currently riveted, once I get a new liner for my mig and I'm happy I'll make some holes and plug weld it. But my cheap Chinese rivet gun broke. I also need to fold up the top. Need to sort out some 900 long angle stock to make the folds or better a long folding brake. Next up I performed some biopsy so see how bad the cancer was under the paint. Looked in the common spots on one side. Found bog but no reason for it. Will see when I strip it right back That is quite annoying a patch lap joint and not on the entire section so now under the bogg rust holes. Enough for now. Oh and I have also been doing this And allot of time with this one I need new photos. She's got so much more hair now.

2 pointsNevermind, their FB page has been removed. Couldn't handle the pressure of disappointed Euro lovers.

2 pointsBasically I was already frustrated at the costs, and now a new provider has come along bringing hope of a change from the disgusting price-gouging of the past... only to do the same thing. So I am letting them know that I do not appreciate it. Also motorcycle levies have not changed, and the justification for that was the fact the money is used for safety initiatives. Basically if the europlate upgrade was $150 they would have $150 from me. Because it is $450 they will never get a cent from me. I'd probably do it to 2 or 3 of my cars if it was affordable too, but at $450 just to get a plate that fits my car correctly and doesn't require extra holes drilled in my bodywork it's just not a justifiable price. I don't have a brand new expensive car or lots of money, all I want is a plate that fits my car without having to sell my kidney.

2 pointsSad they dropped the ball with the SC430, absolute pig to look at, and a dog to drive. I'd like S54 3.0GT soarer, that be fun Michael!

2 pointsSc430... guy here at work owed one - damn ugly! Still think you should have put a BMW engine in this Michael - fair's fair after all.
-
2 pointsHmm ok will see what turns up lol it's not a massively expensive part, and chances are I'll be able to sell it if need be haha In other news, the guys coated MTOY with Gyeon Mohs+ and Phobic today - looking bloody spectacular curing under our lamps MToyGyeon by Christian Taylor, on Flickr

2 pointsEnded up going down a path I never thought I would with this car! Just finished installing the last generation UZ series V8 engine. It's a 2001 3UZ-FE, 4.3 Litres rather than 4.0 and runs VVT-i, variable intake length, Coil on plug, DBW and various other changes. A considerably better engine with 20% more power and 23% more torque over the standard one. Direct bolt in swap with the 5 speed auto too. Currently runs but have a few gremlins to sort so I can drive it.

2 pointsAs always, Ray and HellBM are awesome. Viscous fan clutch gave up on my E36 and in so doing cracked the water pump. Happened on my way to work and I had just enough coolant (before it leaked away) to drop it at my regular mechanic in Kingsland. Ray had a replacement fan clutch there in a day. Much appreciated. Just wish it happened nearer home so I could have fixed it myself!

1 pointHey, So as previously mentioned in the intro page I'm building an E30 coupe rally car. Basically turning this... Into this... Some of you will notice what I based the livery off. The aim is to have a car that looks like a gravel spec M3, unfortunately without the $$$$$s14. Engine wise, I was hoping to get my hands on a S50b32, but might settle on going down the M52 route for a start so I can get the car running sooner. It will be running a 5 stud conversion with group4 escort bilstein coilovers in the rear, with hybrid group4 escort/E36 front coilovers. I have most off these bits, just a few little bits to finish them off. Brakes are from a R33 Gtst skyline, basically the biggest brakes I could get to fit inside a 15" rim, apart from going to APs etc. And today some M3 panels arrived... I'm going down the steel panel route due to gravel destroying fibreglass. Finding the bits will take awhile, but I'm set on doing it. The car is stripped right out, ready to go onto the rotisserie to start stripping the underseal off, and cage build.

1 pointtotal body shop supplies, Victoria St in Petone. Make sure you give them the year of the vehicle as there is most likely revisions (I know there were three revisions for Calypsotrot....)

1 pointKinda on topic... While driving home from work today on SH1 I had two Mazda 3's (and jap equivalent) on different occasions tailgate me between J'ville and Porirua. I was cruising between 100-104 km/h in the left lane and these d$%#head drivers decided to ride my a$$ for a while. Then they pulled out and flew past. I'm not stereotyping Mazda drivers, but just sayin' lol. So I can only conclude that it must be the quad exhausts... or they wanted to see the badge up close just to make sure it was one

1 pointI sold my genuine '89 NZ New 535iS for 6k, done just over 300k's. It could of used a respray but even if i had done it i would of been asking 8-9k max. Also very likely in far better mechanical condition etc.

1 pointThere's a significant problem. NZ traffic law allows people to legally cause an obstruction on the road, even if the Road Code recommends keeping left unless overtaking. I had a situation similar to this today, where I was the one joining a road, requiring (me to filter in. Big - BIG - gap in the queue of traffic I was joining, probably 40m or so. I moved to a position where I would filter in and the next thing I know a white Mazda coupe has accelerated and closed the gap to.... Exactly where I was going to join. The driver sat alongside me. Didn't attempt to get ahead of me - he'd closed a 30m or so gap simply to stop me joining the queue of traffic. I slowed, and filtered in behind them. The "Why?" of this is an unanswered question, although we could perhaps take into account the seriously reclined seat, the baseball cap on backwards and the slouch against the door while holding the wheel with one hand driving position. It's road user attitude that needs to change. And the attitude of policing where anyone exceeding the speed limit is an instant criminal, but dodgy driving (under the speed limit) is fine.
