1 pointRan a cooling system pressure test on the swish new 318. Then it hydrolocked on starting. So it certainly leaks past the head gasket on a dead cold motor, but is okay when warm. Might do a gasket. Not sure if I care. Found that amusing, did some donuts out front of the workshop. Took the X5 home instead. Way nicer. No idea why I buy all these e36s

1 pointAnother coolant flush today. I did expect to need to, so no great surprise to find more brown gunk coming out. I think I've got (if not all) most of it now. The car does seem to be running better since I've done this, but I suspect that's psychosomatic. Picked up (very nearly) new tyres from Paul - @Smackiee - the rears look HUGE! ? They're a correct fit for the rims. .But 255s on a 318Ci? LOL Still - this is a 'dress up' car. Very common in Singapore where travelling any distance or at any speed is uncommon; many people will buy a high-spec but smaller-engined car and upgrade it. Removed both bodykit sills. They don't look bad but are woefully impractical as they sit so close to the road. Any speed bump and you can hear them fouling. They were fitted with 3 screws front and rear, and generous daubing of black mastik (or similar) so there';s a bit of cleaning and tidying to do. I'll do a review of RealOEM (or similar) and see what engine plastic I'm missing. The 'mechanic' neglected to keep all the bits he removed in one place, and seems to have discarded all fastenings he may have found. ? I was in Hamilton yesterday and visited Kerry at Mosen, picking up screws to secure the cabin filter tray, the cover for that tray, and a couple of other small bits. More will be needed.

1 pointMy opinion on replica seats: If you use them on the road, then you run the risk of the seat failing and you injuring yourself and others on the road. If you use them on the track, then you are just asking to be killed in a crash if not seriously injured. Professional racing/motorsport seats are expensive for a reason, trusted in terms of safety and reliability as opposed to items being built for aesthetic purposes only. Wonder what happens if you are involved in an accident and the seat doesnt support your body properly? Or, wonder what happens when you are driving a corner and the seat fails and throws you against the window or the steering wheel making you unable to control/drive the car? Here is a nice post (and plenty more info on the ol google) https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/warning-counterfeit-sparco-seat-failure-930854/

1 pointMore aimed at the premium end of that market, the Mercedes GLS, full fat Range Rover and the forthcoming Audi Q8 and anything else in the "big is good" sector. Very popular in Russia apparently... All of the pre-release images I have seen upto this one looked pretty good, hope this is some poverty pack edition in the photo as the front is not good, the wheels are too small (emphasizing the slab side) and the colour is awful. Massive grilles is the new "design language" taking the traditional kidneys to the next iteration. To make the front profile more striking, which is certainly one word for it..

1 pointCan someone photoshop it pink??? Then it would look just like Peppa Pig, wearing wraparound sunglasses. Regarding the M-Sport kit... Peppa is too young for lipstick, but it might help.

1 pointNice to see someone else who sees sense with the m50 manifold craze. Bigger is not always better, so many examples of far too much port volume around, B6/BP Mazda engines are one great example

1 pointQuick update, that little bit of track time got me hooked so the M3 has spent a large part of the last 6 months parked up as I work my way towards a drift car, with the odd 6 hours drive here and there :-) , after missing the group trip over the Gentle Annie I was determined to check it out. I did treat it to a front set of Pilot Super Sports and a Sparco bucket, which made a world of difference!

1 pointThey’re a great little car and potentially quite underrated. Mucher better improvement over the previous Z3. I’ve now owned two (kinda missed the first one). Both facelift 3.0si with the N52 195kw motor and 6 speed auto/paddleshift. The si versions are generally better optioned with heated and electric seats, xenon and dynamic drive (sport option). Agree with the drainhole issue for the soft top. I believe there was a small update on the facelift to combat this issue but I always ensure the drain holes are clear. The ride is very firm, and while one had runflats and the other didn’t, I personally didn’t notice much difference between the two. I’ll switch to normal tires when the run-flats wear out. What I enjoy is that you can drive with the top down and because you sit nice and low, well under the roll bars and screen, you are cocooned and don’t feel so exposed. Quite different to a four seater convertible where you feel the roof has just been sliced off and you’re open to the world. The big six also sounds great!

1 pointI always swap to poly bushings in the thrust arms if im keeping the car, but given that you have the warranty its probably not worth it in this case.

0 pointsCars competing in 2kcup are put on the dyno so there’s no point trying to do anything cheeky.
